The hefty hunk of expansions for Polyphony Digital's Gran Turismo 5 has been dated, priced and torn asunder. That is to say, you can buy each of the constituent parts of the update -- the tracks, the cars, the racing gear and the paint jobs -- separately, or as one big, $11.99 piece of DLC. Or, you could buy some of the piecemeal parts, and then the whole package, if you were a crazy person with tons of money to waste.
You'll be able to get your rich, crazy hands on the new content starting October 18. Meanwhile, the Functionality Update 2.0 that adds mid-race saving and other free features to the game, launches today.

I'm not a car guy, but I really had fun with the Nascar racing. I couldn't stop laughing when I accidentally picked a Pirus and kept causing pile ups when being lapped.

I gotta get back to this game soon. Was planning to do a Lexus LFA vs Dodge Viper on Nordschleife with a buddy online.

They did a very good job with this update. It's rare that you see a developer support a game this long with even insignificant updates, much less for free (as with Spec 2.0, not the DLC). Good to see that Kaz is still on the side of developers who genuinely want to make their game better, not just pick apart the consumer's wallet.

Does anyone know offhand how much hard drive space this game takes now? I had to uninstall it a while back and would like to check this stuff out but only have 12GB free on my fat 60.

That doesn't make any sense. This update has been in the works for months. It's really silly to assume that they knew about the Forza 4 launch and planned around that. PD has also gone on record to say repeatedly that they don't care what the other devs are doing.

Totally coincidental. Like how Gears 3 DLC is dropping Nov 1. It's all coincidental.

If they were trying to lure me away from Forza, mission failed.

their not trying to do that......seriously.
their just supporting their game and adding stuff that the fans have been asking for such as the mid race.
so please go pick up your forza 4, we'll all be much happier that way.

Sweet, I was just thinking I could use more Mazdas and Nissans, especially of the skyline and roadster variety. Thanks Polyphony Digital, you totally get it.

Wait, Forza isn't on the PS3. Mission in your head?

while this obviously was a sort of power play, such as the GOW3 dlc u mentioned, do they think this actually gives their competitor a loss in sales?
idk, about everyone else, but dlc is all well and good, but a brand new, shiny disc can't be beat.
on subject now though, can't wait for the new karts, plus that indoor track looks sweet.

It's true, this game didn't have nearly enough Skylines in it before.

If you already have GT5, you should log in ASAP and get your Red Bull X1 gift car. Pretty high end vehicle for free! Not sure how long it will last though.
