I, for one, really enjoyed the game. I hope there's a sequel.

I also liked the game quite a bit, and actually find myself going back to the multiplayer every few nights.

The key for me is that I think Relic has built an amazing foundation for this series. The fighting is a lot of fun, and I actually really enjoy the multiplayer despite it's very limited implementation. Improve upon the core with more variety, a more open 'world', a fully threshed out multiplayer with a non tacked-on coop option, and I think you have a huge hit.

I enjoyed it as well. I don't think I've played a bad Relic game, I even loved The Outfit with all of its obvious problems.

I just hope beyond hope that their next project is Homeworld 3!

The plot sucked. The characters sucked. The 'Space Marines!' as the only Orc sound bite sucked.

But I still had quite a lot of fun because the combat was so visceral. I was basically going from chainsaw through the groin to axe through the throat to bolter through the eye socket. And that was enough to carry it.

It looks like they were pretty realistic about this.

The real question is "did it make enough money for a BIGGER, BETTER game set in the same universe to be made?". A sequel is not needed, there's enough fluff in the 40K universe for over 9000 Space Marines.

"scanning"

WHAT 9000!?!

I for one would enjoy a similar kind of Game but playing as the Imperial Guard - preferably as one of Gaunts Ghosts. For example, you could play as different Rank/Speciality each with their own plot/story that would tie in together at the end of the game. From Trooper to Scout to Commissar to Colonel etc. THAT would be awesome.

@PornOfBabylon

I've wanted to see a Gaurd game more in the style of Ghost Recon AW.

Rather then use the Ghosts, i'd prefer a new regiment, kind of like how they created the blood ravens for the dawn of war games. I'd love for them to bring back the Cadians from Dawn of War WA, and have the voice cast reprise their roles.

@PornOfBabylon I was thinking something like that, but it would probably be a lot harder to make an Imperial Guard game fun. I mean, half the combat doctrine of the IG is pretty much "Who cares if these guys die, we got a billion more." The only way I can think of that you could maintain the survivability you'd need to be fun as well as the feel of the IG would be playing as a Storm Trooper squad maybe?

This is one of those really good 7.5-8.0 games. Not a revolution or anything, just good ol' fun.

I also liked The Outfit.

I'd give it closer to a 9. Great visuals, smooth controls, multiplayer that's not as "ehn" as everyone's giving it credit for, an interesting (if short) yarn with decent voice acting and pacing, and combat that just feels wonderful (NEVER has a game made me feel so powerful with an assault rifle.)

I thought the game was fun. I also think the game would have done better had it been an XBLA/PSN title (or on Steam) and priced at 15 or 20 dollars.

Game was a great rent, not sure about buying it.

Hopefully they build on what they have for the next time. Even though the story was pretty shallow, the combat was amazing.

I actually loved this game. Ok the single player was a little one-note (but WHAT a note) and the multiplayer was, I kid you not, one of the deepest and coolest multiplayers I've tried in a long time (bring on the new modes)

Plus, you get to play as Space Marines killed orcs and Chaos. Which stands for a LOT. Bring on the sequel, this is a potential franchise that could really go places.

@vonstalhein Agreed. The multiplayer is highly underrated. Each class, and even each weapon, plays very differently, yet the balance is excellent. (Some have said that the assault class is overpowered, but it's really not - you might get more kills with it, but not a higher k/d.) This has kept me in MP far longer than I expected at first - changing up the loadouts keeps things interesting, because the weapons are all fun to use and require different approaches.

I think this game was awesome, especially considering Relic has never attempted a game like this before...let alone it being on consoles. The action was great, the story was pretty good (especially if you're into 40k), visually it looked great, combat was fun, and the multiplayer is actually pretty fun (for the short time they put into it). I hope it does well enough to garner a sequel so they flesh out and polish the crap out of it. Would love a game full of short stories where you can play stories from different chapters and maybe even play as the Guardsman as a Commissar...executing deserting soldiers :p

Awesome game, glad it did well hopefully there will be sequels and possibly a Greenskins games!

Though my favorite race is the Necrons, I think a game centered around them would be way less interesting than one of the Greenskins and/or Space Marines.

I thought it was a decent, solid shooter. The plot was good enough, if a little predictable (even if the ending was horrible and an obvious sequel setup) and I enjoyed every part of the game except the last boss (seriously, a 5-minute quicktime event?). I thought the characters, particularly the Warboss, were done well enough to advance the plot, if not develop feelings for them on a level with say, Mass Effect. Oh, and the sound design was EXCELLENT...the bolters, chainsword, melta/plasma guns sounded proper and satisfying. One of the best bits of detail was the extra "thunk" sounds you got when your bolter was low on ammo, I wish more games had that.

That said, the single player was entirely too short, you got to use the jetpack entirely too few times, the textures were too low-res, and the overall experience wasn't worth the triple-A price. It was an obvious console port for us PC players and prone to the failings that entails. If you haven't picked this up yet, wait for a Steam sale.

Love the game, still playing it. My only gripe is they didn't keep their word with the Exterminatus release date.

I'm hoping they release more maps, maybe even a bit more single player levels.

Enjoying it now (rental). Fondly reminding me of Dark Siders, not sure why, but both I enjoyed. While playing the missions I'm on now, I keep anticipating seeing a portal to Bastion Stairs around the next corner (WAROnline). I've just begun the missions after the portal/spire. ;)

I shouted WAAAGH after I was swarmed by Choppas and smashed them with the glowing hammer. (fun) I'd appreciate this style of game as the next version of WAROnline... if you consider DCUO (fast action controls), the mega server (instanced server; funneled population that is not unnecessarily spread out), and expand the Keeps from WAROnline to be bigger (7 stories tall) with the objective based PvP... *pizcshiver from excited dreamy game idea.

Innovate a new MMO/PvP console with influence from Dark Souls/DemonSouls. Mainly a campaign (maybe see faded players running about like Dark Souls), but an occasional call to arms to defend a Keep, instanced MP/PvP with as many as hardware will allow. (next console game). Keep defense is a result of Order/Dwarf/Elf or Chaos/Orcs/DarkElves getting pure white/dark world tendency. Good luck!

I would buy another Space Marine game on launch day.
I just would like to see them follow some of the current stories from the Novels.

I really loved it, I can't stop playing it. There were a few things I would have liked to be different though. It seemed strange that you played as a Captain, leader of 100 Space Marines but only had 2 guys with you the whole time. It was really really great for what they tried to do, they pretty much nailed it, I just wish they had been shooting for a wider, more expansive kind of fight. One that's closer to the actual tabletop game. One with battles and set pieces that take place across a huge expansive area rather than just a couple city blocks or whatever. Give them space to include dreadnoughts, tanks and all that stuff along with tons more enemies at the same time.

It's a good, straight forward action shooter, with an incredible amount of polish and a decent story that set up for a cool sequel.
