Is it wrong that I want to wait for the GOTY Edition with all of the DLC included?

I'm banking even the GOTY edition will require an Online Pass to activate offline content.

Another "WAVE OF THE FUTURE!" in this industry.

@ManisObsolete Not really. Bordelands, Fallout 3, Arhkam Asylum, Red Dead Redmption, Civilization 5, New Vegas (not yet, but it will come out, I'm sure of that)...

Yes. You're a monster that makes the Joker look like a kindly kindergarten teacher.

On a (why so) serious note: not really. Things like the whole "exclusive DLC for specific retailers" is *way* out of hand. I get the business aspect of it, but receiving all the DLC in a nice tidy package is understandable.

I, on the other hand, will be getting this game in a few days as a belated birthday gift. Can't wait. I have shattered any virtual criminal collarbones in a while.

@ManisObsolete i 100% agree with anyone who choses to wait for goty edition. the retailer specific pre-order bonus circus is out of hand. then there's that online pass for single player content... i prefer to buy my games new anyway, but the online pass here isn't right

But if you're buying it new, the Online Pass should be included? Right?

I mean, that would only make sense. It's not like "logic" is a four-letter word in the video game indus... wait...

I've been trying out the 360 leak and the online pass thing is really going to be a huge bummer for anyone who can't redeem the code.

Catwoman seems to have been locked out of the main campaign too, not just the episodes and challenges, and I actually found some Catwoman-only Riddler trophies that prompt you to purchase the code when you try to grab them.

Other than that the game is amazing and truly open-world, I've spent hours just messing around and forgotten all about my objectives, only the best sandbox games have this effect on me, also I love how fast Batman moves around the environment, climbing a ladder for example takes like half a second.

@ManisObsolete Play both! I rented the Arkham Asylum when it first came out and beat it, then waited for the GOTY edition to come out later and went through it again. Of course having two different sets of achievements was a good motivator for that.

The "GOTY" Edition of Arkham Asylum was nothing special. It just had lousy 3D with paper glasses. Don't wait for Arkham City. You never know how many days one has on earth. I just enjoy the present.

@KungFuChaosNinja DLC wasn't as big a part of Arkham Asylum as it will be for Arkham City. So the GOTY edition for Arkham City will have far more content. Arkham Asylum GOTY did have Joker challenges and 4 more challenges included.

As for enjoying the present. I am! ICO Collection, Rochard, and soon Battlefield 3 and Uncharted 3! Before you say anything about GOTY for UC3, I could care less about it because if it is like the last one it will feature mostly multiplayer content that I don't care about.

In other words I have the time and the patience to wait for the better edition at a far cheaper price.

Considering Best Buy's bonus is the only thing worthwhile (Joker carnival vs Robin and 2 Challenge Maps and achievements, its not really a contest).

Between two retailers, I think you're making it seem bigger than it really is.

IGN gave it a 9.5
gametrailers gave it a 9.3
joystiq 4and a half out of 5

and all three reviews told me this is a must play game that has a blockbuster opening and a blockbuster ending.... this is a day 1 purchase.

Miami Prodigy , You trust IGN? You listed them first as if they had any real credibility after firing writers for voicing their opinion on terrible games? Why do gamers keep mentioning these jokers? All it does is blind casual gamers into thinking they are a legit review site.

But really, this isn't a game I needed review scores for. It's nice that it's scoring well, but I never doubted that RockSteady would deliver again.

If I was in your shoes, I'd probably pick up Arkham Asylum on the cheap and wait for a price drop on this. That's what I'm doing with Demon's Souls/Dark Souls.

In this case, though, I'm not in your shoes, so I'm eagerly awaiting that UPS truck on Tuesday.

Anybody got the skinny on PS3 version versus 360 version? Load times, jaggies, texture pop-in...? I have both as options and need to know which way to go.

It's UE3. It will have pop-ins no matter what console you play it on. Judge how other multiplatform UE3 games looked, especially Arkham Asylum, and make your decision off that.

@EliminatorZigma It said BOOBLESS upside-down for me.

Really, the two versions will be on an approximate par technologically as the UE3 engine works well on both systems. I'd make the controller the dealbreaker - I prefer the 360 controller with my dinky hands, you may not.

@sqvid Everytime Rocksteady has demo'd the game (E3, PAX, IGN offices, etc.) they've gone with the X360 version. It's safe to assume that they feel it's the more visually polished version.

It took me a long time to warm up to Arkham Asylum after hating the demo and quitting before it even really started. It really came into its own though and is really one of the deepest story-driven games out there IMO. Great to hear they've upped it, look forward to playing it sooner rather than later.

Yeah, I want to say the story was by Paul Dini, one of the main guys responsible for The Animated Series. The story itself is a pretty straightforward "Joker tries to kill everyone in Gotham" plot, but it's the dialog and voice acting that really shine. I'm replaying through the GOTY version right now in anticipation of Arkham City I'm still so impressed at how polished the whole experience is.
