As a long time CS player (beta 4) I am super excited to see what they are doing with GO.

@sammo21 Same here (beta 5). I hope they retain the spirit of the older cs but flesh out their new ideas. We already have source.

@ansalon929

That is the point. New maps, new weapons, a few changes here and there.

This is not a sequel or a change to the formula at all. It is meant to please Counter-Strike fans, while still being a new welcoming to new players.

@xiLeShadow So are all the maps made by Valve/Hidden? 1 of the fun parts of the pc version was always getting new maps developed by the community. It would be awesome if they would put a level editor in the game although i find it unlikely

@sonyforlife

Why would it be unlikely? Valve's Hammer level editor allows you to create custom maps for all other Source games (HL2, L4D 1&2, TF2, CSS...) . The community is what helps keep people playing - I'd stake my job and salary on custom-built levels.

Nice!

I've had terrible insomnia lately. I'll use this tonight to help me go to sleep.

I thought I'd be interested in this, (I've never played CS), but I hate corner peeking, which looked like a pretty popular thing to do in that video...

I played CS since beta, going from a "ringer" in Cal-O stuff to a west coast CAL-im team. Great times.

However, the shooter has evolved and for me watching that video I'm just nonplussed. It's like the transition from 1.6 to CS Source, but now CS Source to CSGO. Meh.

Props to the commentators. They actually made watching competitive Gaming entertaining for me. Very articulate, and they had the right mix of education, humor, and banter. As a person who participated in sport most of their life and as a person who watches the NFL and MMA like it's a religion. I have been on the fence about watching people play a video game. I'll never refer to it as a "sport" but I was entertained.

As far as Go goes, I don't think I'll be getting into it. Never cared for the arcadiness of Counter Strike. Just something off about a modern shooter FPS with modern weapons and no need for iron sights, that I can't get in to. But I enjoyed watching it. Credit that to the guys calling the action.

I haven't watched any CS stuff in a while, so it was entertaining to see experienced players take on the new iteration without a ton of prep time.

The commentators were brutal though, both with the play-by-play and switching feeds. I don't know how many times they swapped from the attacking team just as things got interesting to watch a flash-banged screen for several seconds. :/

Seeing the first footage made me want to to go play some Source, surprisingly so, but as the initial surprise of a new CS wears off I'm left wondering how much I'd be willing to play a new CS that seems to mostly consist of map remakes. I would want the remakes to be there, it wouldn't be CS without them, but an influx of new maps to a game that's more than a decade old would be nice.

This sucks. Worse graphics than CS: S, one new weapon, same maps, etc.

Why would anyone want this?
