I played the demo today and everything clicks, even modern Sonic plays well. Oh god I'm so anxious, this might just be their comeback!

No, you're not. Even though it is nowhere near as good of a game, Sonic 4 seems to suffer from MGS 2 syndrome. People liked it when it came out(except the price), but now they just put it down at every turn.
Apparently though, I seem to be the only one that was immensely disappointed by the demo for Generations. Obviously, by my name on here, I'm a Sonic fan, but it was just painful for me playing that demo. It was made all the worse by the fact that I was already disappointed by the first release of the demo, got optimistic once I heard it was drastically improved and then felt worse when the "improvements" didn't change my opinion.

Obviously nobody is going to read all that. Sorry.

Right there with you. I've been a huge critic of Sonic games for a while now, but Generations has had me intrigued. I was actually kind of frustrated with the original 2D demo. I felt like it was nearly impossible to see Sonic once you got moving so fast, there was just too much going on in the background. The new demo didn't really change that.
I was incredibly surprised then when I realized I was actually having a lot of fun playing the 3D portions. A couple of years ago, I imagined a few things that could be done to 'fix' 3D Sonic, and apparently someone at Sonic Team was on the same page. So far, it's actually a lot of fun.

Same here. I was hyped for classic Sonic, but I thought it was just ok. Modern Sonic was surprisingly good.

"the gameplay never backed down from its seemingly cocaine-fueled commitment to balls-to-the-wall, madcap craziness."

If it wasn't for the "All-Ages" crowd that SEGA is probably aiming for, I would buy SONIC GENERATIONS just for a tagline like that alone, haha.

@QuintonFlynn I agree, they did a fantastic job with the demo. If the full version of the game is simply more of THAT, then they have a sale from me! The early reviews seem to paint a picture of a solid 8.5/10 with few of the complaints that I would expect from a Sonic game, so maybe - just maybe - Sega has actually done it.

Sonic Colors last year, now Generations. From everything I can see, Sonic seems to be making his way back to great console games. Nice!

Got it preordered on steam, really hoping I don't get a nasty surprise and find out they cut out some features or it's a bad port.

Sonic and sega allstars racing ran great but, well, they ripped out the whole multiplayer. It was much cheaper than the console versions, but so is sonic generations so now I'm kinda worried.

No there is only 2006. Sonic R was fine not great but fine, Heroes was a good game though not like Adventure/2, Sonic the Fighters is an arcade game so it wasn't meant to be amongst the "main series" of Sonic games, Black Knight and Secret rings were good games though not polished enough and Unleashed was great even with the Werehog that was annoying.

@trutenprower Werehog was the only part of Unleashed I could put up with after Sonic started getting powerups. The speed stages just quickly devolved into "Hold speed boost button until out of rings and jump occasionally" and "press random button combination to not die". The feeling of control that was present in Sonic Adventure 1 and 2 has been lost for a while. The only consolation of playing as the Werehog was that at least I could pretent that I was playing as Knuckles.

Oh, and while I'm on the subject of opinions, Sonic Heroes sucked for a multitude of reasons. I am the 99%.

I ordered the very first Sonic on Genesis before it came out, from a mail-order place I got from a magazine. That was in the days when games just came out, I don't remember having definite dates for anything, and you certainly couldn't just run down to the store on Tuesday and expect the new games to be there. That was so long ago, when you didn't have a reason to expect a new Sonic game to be less than you hoped for.

The game looks fun, but honestly, I wish they would just dump the gimmicks. Why not just make a game exactly like this but with one single, regular Sonic? Why muck it up with all this other stuff?

@TurbineTech MW are my initials, it doesn't stand for Modern Warfare. Lol.

As for you other guys...

Yes, actually, I have played the demo. But here again, the demo is very, very short. From what I played, it was fun. But how many times has that happened in a Sonic game? Case and point: Sonic Adventure 2 Battle. Don't get me wrong, I love the game to death, but every level other than the Sonic/Shadow levels was complete shat.

Sega doesn't seem to understand that Sonic doesn't need gimmicks to be good. Every single Sonic game (at least retail) from thew last few years has had some stupid gimmick that weighed it down. If they just went back to the core gameplay from the Genesis games or, hell, even Sonic Adventure (with the other characters removed), it would be fine.

You could preorder games back then. At least at Toys R Us you could. They had special "$5.00" tickets that you took to the register.

You guys remember that, where you took the ticket to the register, and then you went to the special games depository where you slipped them the ticket and they slipped the game back out to you? I loved that.

I don't get this complaint. I think the friends are what made Sonic games fun. In Sonic 3 we'd always fight for Tails. In S&K I don't know anyone who played Sonic. Then we get to adventures where, for me, Sonic was again the most boring part of the game.

I agree to its just strange not having a Sonic game without Tails, Knuckles or heck even Amy. I think though that when Heroes came out they went overboard with the amount of friends that appeared.
