Dungeon Defenders scares up free Halloween DLC on PC
10
Dungeons are pretty spooky places to being with, what with the shackles and the chains and the spiders and everything, but are Trendy Entertainment and Reverb Publishing content with letting Dungeon Defenders' inherent dungeon-dwelling spookiness carry it through the brief-yet-important Halloween season? Hell no!
Well, "Hell no!" if you regularly defend dungeons on your PC, at any rate. PSN and XBLA defenders will have to make due, but Steam users can download Dungeon Defenders' Halloween Costume and Mission packs for free, right this very instant. In aggregate, the packs include eight new costumes, a "devilishly hard" Halloween mission, eight new seasonal weapons, and a redecorated tavern for Halloween merry-making.
We don't want PSN or XBLA defenders feeling left out, so we recommend imagining how different your life would be had you purchased the game on Steam, instead of your console of choice. Terrifying!

Amazing that there's no charge for this.
If anyone's interested, Amazon has this game for 20% off:
http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B005VFHOOE/ref=as_li_ss_tl?ie=UTF8&tag=httpbetterand-20
It's the PC download version, comes with an exclusive Nagi pet, and this will also register on steam.
Really fun game, and great blend of so many different genres!

Friend got me the game and it's pretty obvious this is the companies first game, it does a pretty awful job at explaining certain things and the last wave jump in difficulty is absolutely atrocious, first level it gives me after finishing the tutorial I did pretty great in, none of the waves were that much of a problem and it was almost easy. Final wave right after that had about 200 enemies, suddenly the same things I've been killing had 400 health, and I was overrun in literal seconds, it's horribly balanced honestly.

@Sift need to change your tactics. I haven't had any issues and can't get enough of the game. Unfortunately I bought it for PS3, so I guess I don't get the DLC. The PS3 community kinda blows too.

You should probably give the game more of a chance. Of course if you didn't enjoy 200 enemies I probably shouldn't tell you the final wave on the Halloween challenge on hard has somewhere around 8000 enemies.
So far I have been able (with a good team and teamwork) been able to beat most of the game on hard (some of the lower levels on Insane). Again I stress Teamwork, One person bogarting all the mana and defense points usually doesn't win you a round, especially if they have no idea what they are doing.
Yeah there are some punishing waves but I have found that I enjoy the "skin of your teeth, are we going to make it .... YESSS we freaking did it!" levels more than the "*set up towers*... don't bother moving we win" levels. Hell some of the most enjoyable rounds have been rounds that we've lost but we had one hell of a time losing.

Yeah, you really need to re-approach the game with a different mindset; it's all about resource management. I'm not even good at strategy games and my defenses can generally take down every enemy on the screen for the first few levels (well, until the big baddie shows up).
I do agree, however, that it's sometimes clear that the team doesn't have a lot of experience. The PS3 version SORELY needs a patch for how botched the trophies are. They literally don't even work. Still, all's forgiven if they manage to patch things up because the game is fun as hell.
