Me 2 lol.

The "radical reinvention" is that it's set in San Andreas not Los Santos. From what I've gathered it appears to be the whole state. Why show plates that say San Andreas. Why show and interstate highway. Why show a jet. Surely a jet is not feasible in a one small city environment with the GTA style.

I dunno obviously but I'm guess this is going to be a hard drive install only game and require a DECENT amount of space to include all of San Andreas. Watch.

I guess no San Fiero and Los Venturas then. I didn't care for the Los Santos setting. Hopefully they can leave out most of that gangster bullshit.

I'll miss SF but Venturas sucked so bad. I hated that part of the game and will gladly take only LS island if I dont have to spend a significant chunk of the game in LV again.

I, in no way endorse what ItsameMatt03 is saying right now, but you are the one who made the generalization that he meant "black people." I did not personally attack you or your family, but commented solely on what was said, which in any context is inappropriate.

Wait, so your black friend is the spokesperson for all black people now? Who does he think he is, Al Sharpton? You friend just sounds like a pretentious asshole to me.

So if all lower class black people that act like that are n**gers? Then what does that make lower class white living in trailer parks with no education? I'm sure you'd just call them rednecks. A lot of them take that as a compliment.

You missed the point of his post entirely then. He was pointing out that what ItsameMatt03 had some suspicious undertones of racism or was completely stupid because every single GTA game has always been about gangsters. It gets even worse when ItsameMatt03 proceeds to make himself sound even more of a racist with his follow up post.

It's not like Chanka used any derogatory terms or anything. Are you offended when someone says the words 'black people'?

So, thanks. I was running a little low on cynicism.

"Another radical reinvention". Another? I'm waiting for the first radical reinvention. GTAIV has a very detailed city, and better (though still crap) controls, but it's the same core experience as GTAIII.

As you must've noticed in your own post, dear sir, GTA III (3) was not the first in the series, and you even said that it has tight control schemes, so I get that The 3rd GTA was the one that started it, right? So GTA 2 and 1 must've been radically diferent, correct? Then, if you put everything together you get that GTA III was the first radical reinvention of the franchise, and their statement is that this one is ANOTHER, so if they're touting that it must be that they believe the same that i stated above or more.

Ok, now I must run, there are other cases to solve in the world.

Multiple playable characters is a major departure from the old games, this could mean any number of things to the gameplay and gameworld, what if each character is set in a different era like the 80's and 90's? That character is pretty old, maybe the game will chronicle their lives and theyll start out young.

This game has been in development for 4 years compared to 2 for the old ones, there must be a reason for that.

"but it's the same core experience as GTAIII."

I'm sorry, but I don't exactly understand this logic. Of course it's going to be like a GTA game because it is a GTA game. It's like complaining about a Mario game for being a Mario game or a Halo game for being a Halo game.

There are core elements to these games that must be retained in any future installments. So when another GTA game comes out, there are certain expectations that must be achieved: It has to be open-world, it must have some crime element involved, etc, etc. But take those elements out and then there's no point. Why make a GTA game when it's not even going to be like GTA? You might as well just make a new IP at that point.

As I mentioned before in the last GTA thread: There is nothing wrong with working on familiar territory, provided, of course, that the game still is of quality. GTAIV proved that there is still life in the franchise, and I'm confident that Rockstar will put out another fantastic installment.

Or maybe it could be just like GTA4 and the Multiple Character could be from the expansion packs i.e. TL&D's Johnny, TBoGT's Luis.

Just looks like what you would expect from another GTA game. I don't see how it could possibly reinvent the franchise.

@Darki Dreamside I don't either. I guess I'll pick it up eventually when the release the "complete" version and it goes cheap. But honestly I have never finished a single one of the Grand Theft Auto games. I just lose interest long before they are done.

Which makes waiting for the complete version to go cheap kind of silly...

RDR was the best game Rockstar's ever made. It's going to be tough to beat that in terms of polish/quality.

@JakeAuditore Quality, maybe. Polish, though? It had the most weird glitches of any game I've ever played. Some were pretty entertaining though, such as my horse having the body of a snake. YouTube has tons of clips of crazy stuff happening in RDR (cougar man, donkey lady, and gunslinger dog are three pretty awesome ones).

Well if it is one thing Rockstar does is that those devs keep raising the bar, I will have to say hands down Red Dead Redemption has the best ending by far of any game I played this gen.

I can all but bet GTA V will blow our socks away.

I'm calling it now: Holiday 2012 for 360, PS3, PC, and eventually Wii-U.

If Nintendo wants hardcore gamers on the Wii-U, they HAVE to have a GTA.

@MLC By the looks of the trailer, I'd say the game is already quite far into development. I wouldn't be surprised if this game was out within 6 months. I'm not sure what Rockstar's track record is in terms of how soon they announce games and when they're actually released, but it seems like poor practice to unveil a game that is more than a year out if you plan on keeping the hype alive.
