Nitronic Rush: a 'survival driving' game by DigiPen students
33
Skyrim? Pssh, forget that noise, November 11 is all about Nitronic Rush now. A "survival driving" game for the PC, Nitronic Rush has been developed by the aptly named Team Nitronic, a group of students at the DigiPen Institute of Technology, the same school responsible for Narbacular Drop. As you can tell from the release trailer above, the game looks flippin' gorgeous (see what we did there?), and we can't wait to see if the gameplay ends up being just as stellar.
Dragons are so old hat, you guys; glowing mystical daredevil highways are the new hotness.

Digipen, the ones not embracing cross platform.

It's a school dude. The students are focused on learning the programming languages and APIs. When they graduate, they'll join developers at various studios, most of which probably embrace cross platform in some sense (be it multiple consoles, or multiple computing platforms, etc). This expectation that a freely available student project should be cross-platform is pretty ridiculous... then again, it's on par with the ridiculous expectations all gamers have of the industry.

Gives this a few weapons, and it screams Redline. That would be the best racing game ever.

Definitely seems like the projects from Digipen have come a long way. Most of the released demos from students have looked like they were held together with string and glue. From just a visuals standpoint this is miles beyond anything a group had released from there. Even Narbacular Drop kinda looked like ass.

I could very well see this competing with Wipeout HD if it was on the PS3. It looks much more fun, and if the soundtrack is similar to the trailer's then the music will be unarguably better.
Sorry guys, but Wipeout HD's techno soundtracks were all the same wubs.

It's almost a homage to San Francisco Rush, the logos have the same break through the R.

Man..I wish a company...say "Nintendo"...had a racing franchise with extreme vehicles that go extremely fast...something akin to F-One.
A franchise like that with this level of music and and new stunt tricks would make for an Extreme experience.
I guess I'll just have to dream...
