Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 3's Hardened Edition, unboxed

Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 3 is finally out and available in stores, and if you're considering picking up the Hardened Edition (available in most places for $99.99, a mere $40 more than the standard edition), boy do we have a gallery for you to browse through. Below, you can see exactly what's in that box, including a collectible case, a "Limited Edition Field Journal" featuring sketches and materials associated with the game and its story, and the special card and manual that comes with the free year of Call of Duty Elite (and "Founder" status).

Sure, it doesn't have quite as many dragons as Skyrim's Collectors Edition, but that Call of Duty Elite membership will come in handy (not to mention it'll save you the $49.99 that you'd usually pay per year for the service's premium features). Enjoy.

Yep, got my Hardened Edition copy from XP this morning! EXCELLENT game!

Also love the subtle placement of pictures in the Field Journal. It was kinda like being a kid and looking through your grandfathers old war relics w/ pics of his war buddies.

Every single time I've seen you post its been about cod on a Battlefield article, and every time someone calls you out you get defensive and start arguing things that have nothing to do with what you said. And before you get offended by my post and call me a stalker, don't. Unlike you, some people are able to read things and then recall that information

It's even part of the marketing for the game.

I don't know why he should, they try to sell you $60 game for $100 the map pack knocks off $15 if its worth it and the 1 year of elite is the worst scam ever for trying to sell you something other places do completely for free and most things you can do in game.

Getting elite for this price is a steal considering it makes all dlc free to elite members and you get maps sooner

It doesn't make DLC's free..you're paying for the DLC's and getting Elite.

Everything in the Elite package should already be free..every other game that has this stuff doesn't charge for it.

It's just a gimmick.

I didn't say that they didn't over charge for crap but the 40 dollars extra than the normal edition of the game is worth it because there will be 60 dollars worth of map packs, saving 20 bucks, and yes if your in elite you get them free. Yes elite should just be part of the game but activision is a greedy ass company. You also get free avatar clothing (which I don't care about) but it is an added value. 100 bucks for a game I play for hundreds of hours is worth it to me, Far more worth a game I pay 60 bucks for and beat in 6 hours and never play again. If you don't Like Call of Duty there is a simple solution to that, don't read and comment on articles about it.

@Slomoshun gimmick like all the season passes? Gears of War,La Noire,Mortal Kombat do it while BF is just porting old maps from a game they closed the servers to on xbox live.

Correct me if this open to interpretation:

"First, subscribers will get a year's worth of downloadable content for Modern Warfare 3. That is over 20 pieces of new content, he says, spooled out over monthly content drops. That content will include new maps, new game modes and more, with a total cost of over $60 if purchased separately."

This tells me you are paying for your content EARLY via the Elite membership. You do not pay for the content on top of the yearly membership.

I love the singular photo of that thin instruction manual don't get me wrong I'm picking this up in 30 minutes but seriously it drives me nuts that publishers cut costs by making instruction manuals 2 pages long and clipping holes in game cases.

Cool stuff for CoD fans.

P.S. Also, anyone who goes out of their way to look through a total stranger's post history to troll.....TOTAL loser.
