The Halo Living Monument is active -- whether it's actually functional for you is an entirely different matter. To celebrate the launch of Halo: Combat Evolved Anniversary, the website allows the Halo faithful to upload an image and be part of this grand marketing opportunity.
The monument is a rotating Master Chief with interactive limbs displaying hexagonal portraits of those who have taken the opportunity to upload a photo onto the internet. That seems about it. We guess you could always have a moment of silence, and pray to the monument that next year's Halo 4 ends up succeeding without Bungie at the helm.

They should make a Halo map that's just a giant statue of master chief...

@Timjoy
There's a plethora of forge world maps that only contain giant status.

As someone who honestly disliked Halo 1 and 2 but somehow fell in love with Reach: is the Anniversary Edition something I would like or hate?

If you honestly don't like Halo 1, then you won't like Anniversary, unless simply making the graphics prettier will sway your opinion.
As the person above me said, get the Anniversary map pack. It's AMAZING. I've been loving it all day.

I hope the anniversary maps will get a price cut soon so I can snag it.

@Baagawk $15 for 6 maps + a firefight map is too much? COD charge $15 for 3 reskinned ones. Plus, with Halo maps, each has several variations, so it feels like more than 6. Plus they tweaked weapon balance and a bunch of other things in the title update, they have whole playlists where the pistol is once again king, redid the player speed, the gravity, the recharge rates on shields and health, the way certain guns behave, etc. for all the Anniversary Classic playlists. It's pretty great.
The 343 team have been working their tails off supporting the Halo fans so far. Well worth the $15 investment if you like Reach multi.

Am I the only person who noticed the cool live action video you can watch when you click on the dot over his visor?

Thanks for pointing that out. The video perfectly illustrates why I love Halo over any other FPS franchise that I almost cried

Exactly. The Anniversary playlists really show how dedicated they are and that they really took user feedback into account. It's pretty comforting to know that Halo is in great hands.

After you've uploaded a picture you get to view the video and your picture is displayed during the memorial video - it's pretty clever.

so I know this has nothing to do with the momument that 343 has set. Which for fans is a great addition to the Halo universe.
But, since the announcement of Halo 4 ive heard so many people thrown the idea that Halo is now being milked?
As a game fan I have to say the Halo series one of the most inventive and in depth experiences in gameplay. When gaming was introduced it was not the idea that someone can get online with their buddies and go on massacre. (Not to say it isn't a great addition) But, gaming was meant to be an interactive story. Something that engages the player to depths that they dont expect.
And just that what has Halo done? Since the first installment ten years ago Halo has brought its fans a vast world with almost endless science fictional possibilities. Games have adapted the armor of the chief as Easter Eggs, companies have built the characters vehicles and so much more.
Milking can't be the word... Call of Duty is on its 8th installment in 9 years. These games went from a building of a great story to tell; to simply an updated engine to run a multiplayer world that plays to a tee almost an exact copy of its precurser.
Since the invention of Xbox. Halo has brought Microsoft hand in hand. Halo 3 to date is still known as the God of game releases with almost every pre-order copy bought with in 14 days of its announcement. They compared the release to a Black Friday 90% off sale. It was so big movie theaters attributed its players to the millions of decreasing movie attendances in its opening month.
I was excited for MW2, Craved Black ops, happy about MW3
Out of my mind about Battlefield 3
But the announcement of Halo 4 at E3?
If you attended it like I did. The amazement of fans was moving. Tears everywhere. Amazement as the cryotube appeared on screen. Everyone knew there was a story to tell but the conformation of a major installment dropped jaws.
The last few installments: Halo Wars, ODST, Reach, and Anniversary. Are all back stories. As Mircosoft allowed the sell of Halo titles under books, films, and viral campaigns.
That means in over 10 years only 4 stories will have been introduced to the franchise as major installments, with ODST and Reach simply being Bungie's quick way out of a contract , Wars as a new way to experience preludes, and Anniversary as a favor to all the fans you range from being 6-30 years old the day that Halo: CE was released.
Halo 4 only proves that when a franchise is handled by teams of creators with the idea of telling a story that truly earns its place in gaming history. Milking this franchise will be a hard feat. As true Halo fans will always dig deeper to find the meaning behind one of the most intriguing Humans vs Aliens ideals ever put on paper.
Spartans never die they are just Missing in Action.
