'Splosion Man coming to Retro City Rampage
16
Not even the metaphorical constraints of intellectual property are enough to contain Twisted Pixel's 'Splosion Man, apparently, as indie developer VBlank Entertainment has revealed that both Mr. And Ms. 'Splosion Man will join the cast of its upcoming pixel-art chiptune meta-homage Retro City Rampage.
VBlank told MineCon 2011 attendees that 'Splosion Man is "the first of Retro City Rampage's official indie (or previously indie) crossovers," a statement that indicates future crossover announcements while simultaneously poking at Twisted Pixel's recent change in corporate structure. Check out the trailer above for a glimpse at RCR's isometric take on 'splode-based platforming.

hah, awesome. i truly hope that Microsoft has finally learned from mistakes of the past and doesn't run Twisted Pixel into the ground by making every single creative employee decide to seek employment elsewhere. they are one of my favorite small game developers this gen, and to be honest, Microsoft needs a lot more 1st party studios like them.

@Liquidfingers Seeing as how all of TP's games were funded and produced under Micrsoft's guidance, it's highly unlikely that they're going to be "Run into the ground." If anything, things can only get better, as TP's going to have even larger budgets and time to work develop titles.

When is this coming out? I've been pumped for this ever since Nintendo Power first had a story on it over two years ago.

When in gods name is this game actually coming out?
Or are we just going to do a Duke Nukem by continually adding content that will be so out of date when it finally releases that it will be less than pointless...?

@(Unverified) How can a retro game go out of date? That's the point.

I'd be nice if this game just came out. Thanks Microshit for forcing a delay for a year. Fu*king hacks.

""Isometric" in games usually refers to ¾ isometric perspective, used in games like Final Fantasy Tactics and Landstalker. This video does not feature it.
