Having decided that there still aren't enough platforms upon which to play Final Fantasy, Square Enix recently launched its own marketplace on the Japanese Android app store. The splintered-off storefront allows users to purchase downloadable Square Enix titles like Chaos Ring, Crystal Defenders and the iOS remake of Final Fantasy. The store will be updated with each new mobile release from the publisher, like the upcoming Chrono Trigger re-release.
The store will go live in Japan for KDDI users on December 1, while subscribers of DoCoMo and other cell networks will have to wait an unspecified amount of time. Considering how ubiquitous these games already are, we can't imagine they'll be forced to wait too long.

I was wondering when they'd start making Android ports.

I hope we see this over in the US - it'd be cool to get some legit games for my shiny new Kindle Fire.

@WolVenom
I'm sure it will be supported, since it coincide with Xperia PLAY release on Japan.

For the love of god, Square-Enix, incorporate button control customization!

This.
I have a Droid 2 and a Game Gripper accessory, so it's kinda annoying when publishers/developers ignore the options Android users have for input methods. Heck, you could even connect a Wii Remote or DualShock 3 via Bluetooth or USB (for tablets with a full-sized USB port), but they rarely go beyond the less-than-ideal touch controls. I have no interest in "adjusting" to a control scheme that's less accurate and covers the screen!
I don't hate touch screen controls, they can work quite well. Not for virtual game pads, though. For more "traditional" styled games, a touch screen is best served as a supplement to physical controls (DS, 3DS, PS Vita, and Wii U).

Yey! This is great news. Hope this happens in the US too.
I have Xperia Play so I can use the buttons on them for once!
I agree that the touch screen is nothing but a complementary option for these older games.
Unless it a game like the Mushrom Hunt.

@Afrit Experia Play is like having our gamer prayers answered... Phone and real gaming device in one. More models like this should be produced, and more games compatible with such devices should be released. Wouldn't it be the answer to boost more sales in the industry???

I wonder which Android devices can actually run their more GPU-intensive apps like Chaos Rings. Surely any Nvidia-equipped handset. Perhaps the Xperia Play's specs are the minimum.
Also one has to account for all of those different screen resolutions. Will their games appear framed, stretched, letter-boxed, etc on all of the different devices? Or will they actually program dynamic screen resolution?
