What is it with Square Enix and transforming weaponry? Gun swords and bow swords and now a spear sword? What's next, a gun that shoots swords? Actually, that doesn't sound half bad, but we digress.
Not to be mistaken with GameStop's PowerUp Rewards member-exclusive transforming Genji Bow, the above weapon will be available to those who pre-order Final Fantasy XIII-2 from select European retailers, Square Enix reveals. It's the Muramasa, a combination dual-blade and spear weapon for Noel that increases chain bonuses in battle.

Well in the first place, aren't these Kupo transforming? pushing fantasy to the limit, I'm fine with that...

I love Final Fantasy but for some reason, when I see these "transforming" weapons, I just want to bash them. They just seem so uninspired. Though, I guess if anything, they're inspired by the series' characters' often spikey hairstyles.

Now all we need is for Mr. Expert Dual Bladesman/Spear Thrower to comment and tell us all exactly what is wrong with this and how it could never work.

LOL, let me try...
*ahem*HACK HACK*ahem*
Well, as we can all clearly see, the spring-loaded mechanism used for the so-called 'transformation' cannot fit nor be strong enough to maintain its form during prolonged use. Therefore, instead of a spowrd (a term I've coined specifically for this unexpected development in the hand weaponry field) I propose we turn to a more traditional weapon, such as this:

*quietly walks away*
*whispers*I think spowrds are super duper cool *mumbles*

I'm sad at the exclusivity of all these preorder bonuses, but I know that weapons with names like Genji and Muramasa will be attainable in-game through normal means because that's how it always is with FF games. That said, HOLY CRAP these transforming weapons are so bad-A!

Do we even know what Noels primary role is anyway? I don't particularly care for this if he was, say, a Commando.

Now that FF has finally been infected with this kind of dlc crap, the series is officially dead to me. After FFXIII, I thought there was nowhere to go but up, but FFXIII-2 is gonna have to reel in all 10's or something to get me interested anymore.
