Without seeing the video yet, that is my guess, too.
Modern Army RPG. It doesn't even have to be Afghanistan (or just occur in one country).

That picture is the LAST thing I would expect to see attached to the Bioware name!
I hope that this new studio is made up of talented devs worthy of the Bioware name rather than a load of average Joes/Janes and the Bioware name slapped on to sell copies.

Those few seconds were a little disappointing. I don't care if Bioware does something that isn't an RPG, but I do want them to make something that stands out, like their other games.
Maybe it's part of the trailer that will establish some backstory, and the actual game doesn't involve this. Will wait and see.

ok tanks and stuff... but here is my guess. no, it is not a FPS. look at the cheesy physiks and how the stuff looks (especially the cars). reminds me of a zoom into a detail of war from a far bigger scaling map. therefore: this is going to be some tactic thing, kind of RTS. or maybe a mixture of both or something.

I was sceptical when I saw Mass Effect first and that turned out great. But the setting does worry me, I do like me some aliens and dwarves.

While I prefer science fiction and dark fantasy settings, I'm not opposed to modern settings as long as they bring something new to the genre. Bioware's strengths are story, characterization and player choice, and if done right, I think they could make a very good game in a modern setting. Still, with the rate at which Bioware's been selling out lately, I am afraid this will be yet another Modern Warfare clone. I guess we'll find out on the 10th.

oh good lord Bioware, what is happening to you? was Mass Effect 2 your swan song? will Mass Effect 3 be a massive disappointment that a lot of people will just claim is a work of genius even though it's just another run-of-the-mill shooter with very lite RPG-elements? 1st strike was getting bought out by EA, 2nd strike was Dragon Age II, please don't let this be your third. i know i don't have any information on this game beyond this trailer, but god damn that was disappointing.

There's a variety of options, hell it could even be a spy game for all we know but despite the fact I LOVE bioware, I will admit I border on fanoy teritory nothing can bring me to watch the abomination that's the VGA. I just wish we had a real awards ceremony that got some airplay. I mean there's the GDC but it gets no coverage. But I guess people just want to see stars who are basically sneering down their noses at the fans while they walk away with gift bags full of thousands of dollars of free stuff. The Entertainment Industry just makes me so sad and cynical.
