Just based on the small number of reviews on places like Amazon.com, it seems many of the displays are shipping defectively. It comes down to minor issues as finger prints on the glass from the factory, to more advanced manufacturing defects as dead pixels, scratches and dust behind the glass and displays just "blowing" after a day or two of use.

I actually have one of these displays and mind has all of the errors except random death. I will likely have it exchanged, but I want to make sure that Sony fixes the issues on their end prior to doing so.

Mine works just fine even after it seemed like Amazon and UPS did everything in their power to break it before it arrived to my house.

And people are complaining about fingerprints? That's not a defect.

@Jason B Fingerprints on the inside of the display of a device made for viewing things is absolutely a defect.

@Jason B

How can a TV get mass fingerprints? I've had my TV for 6 years now, and may have touched the screen 5 times, ether cleaning it or reaching back to plug ish in.

this thing seems to be a bit of a rip off. I heard you can't even watch tv on it. 24" screen, just for ps3 games, for $500? no thank you.

@Boomzilla:

It does not have a TV tuner, but it can accept 2 HDMI HDCP signals, 1 component or 1 composite video signal. So if you have a cable or satellite box, then the display will work fine.

The biggest issues with the display is that when using it as a monitor, you will not get 120Hz (it is locked at 60Hz), 3D is done at 1080p/24Hz (not 60Hz), and if you properly calibrate the black levels, the screen has major ghosting artifacts and moving objects will flicker and push green when the light level is low (which is most of the time playing games like Skyrim or Arkham Asylum). You can increase the brightness to compensate, but then blacks will be majorly gray.

GameSpot was bundling Uncharted 3 with the PlayStation Monitor last week. Don't know if they still are.

Funny question I know but I'm not into the 3D scene(have a 3DS but thats more so just for the next generation of Nintendo portables), so I didn't read too much into this before. Can this be used as a TV or is it just a display for PS3?

@jph89

It's a display, like a computer monitor. It can't pick up over the air tv signals, and there isn't a port for the cable chord thing (don't know what it's called). It has one component cable port, and two HDMI ports, so it'll work with whatever uses those.

So it has no tuner. The c(h)ord? you're talking about is coaxial cable.
I totally don't see the appeal in this thing, you can get 2 32" lcds for the same price and not worry about anyone seeing your game.

@nevin1 or even better buy a sony bravia that has the 3d technology, you don't need to buy one of these.

Does the sony bravia do dual play? Does sony bravia come with 3d glasses with the option of setting to horizontal only or vertical only? I don't think anyone knows what this tv actually does... but 23 inch is definitely too small, I have a 50 in the living room and 42 in the bedroom... and I wish they were both bigger

Didn't realise it didn't have a TV tuner. Pre order cancelled!

Sony please make sure you use the delay time to put in a Freeview HD tuner if your gonna sell it in the UK.

I really like the idea of full screen multiplayer - the dual play. Full screen co-op or versus would be fun and would get past the problem of the other person glancing at your side of the split screen to see where you are on a map.

Can they not just make that part of the HDMI standard if it isn't already and then sell horizontal and vertical glasses to the new active glasses standard? Or universal ones that allow you to switch the polarity of the lenses so you can switch between 3D or dual play?

There are bigger and better displays out there, and it would a shame to see the dual play idea disappear due to issues with this screen.

Whilst we are on the subject, surely it is time that Kinect and the Playstation Camera picked up on a gamer's glasses so that the POV for 3D gaming can reflect your head movements as per those awesome tech demos...

They're probably delaying it to address the Ghosting/Crosstalk/double image/whatever you want to call it issue that Panasonic fixed with their 3d tvs.
