Starting today and continuing through November 27, Valve will offer daily discounts and deals on many, many titles in honor of the holiday. Such is the plight of the Steam user.
Kicking off the sale today are a myriad of games including recent releases Orcs Must Die!, Portal 2 and, uh, Duke Nukem Forever. There are even a few games under $4, and one is actually a bunch of games together: The Oddboxx. Yet another highlight is the Sam & Max Collection, a bundle of the first three seasons ending with the The Devil's Playhouse, for $12.49.
Valve will be switching up what's on sale every day, so ... be careful.

Awesome. My unemployed friend has been unable to play Portal 2, and this gives me the perfect excuse to gift it to him.

@DAmwake Maybe he got downvoted because he is just stupidly assuming that the person is not actively looking for jobs even though he may be in this rough economic climate and plays games to pass the time.

No, no, no. It's common knowledge that EVERYONE who is unemployed isn't looking for a job. Haven't you heard?
Also, poor people are poor because they're lazy and if your children are starving, it's ALWAYS your fault!

Nice try Steam, I'm not falling for it. I'm waiting for the holiday sale when you sell games for $1

Elder Scrolls III and IV are also on sale, if anyone who only played Skyrim wants to play the rest of the series (Arena and Daggerfall *1 and 2* are both free on Bethesda's website).
I'd wait though because they might have it even cheaper as the deal of the day one of these days, so I'd just wait until the 27th to buy them.

Has Steam done a Thanksgiving sale before? I only remember Winter Holiday and Summer sales.

@Dizazter I think last year was the first, and it was called the Give and Get sale.

Yes. They do these every year.
The big ultra major ones are the Summer and Winter sales.
But there are always Autumn and Spring sales as well. Pretty big as well.

Dammit....I was hoping I could get away with Orcs Must Die (and the Lost Adventures DLC) and today would be a cheap(er) day. In for the bundle; that's just a ridiculous price. I generally wait for daily deals and then scoop up the rest on the last day, but there's no way in hell that's gonna be a DD when it's already 67% off and ridiculously cheap enough as it is. XD
Thanks for the heads up!

If by some odd situation you haven't bought Portal 2 yet. Please do so right now.

If you don't own Duke Nukem Forever - buy it on sale on Steam. The PC version was by far the best. Load times were fast and graphics were better than the console versions. Plus there have been some other updates since release that addressed a number of the "critics" concerns (at least the "technical" concerns).
Ignore the haters - Duke Nukem Forever is worth playing, especially if you're a fan of Duke Nukem 3D.

I bought it a while back (it was actually only $5 when I bought it) and I agree. It's definitely not GotY material, but if you're looking for something fun that you won't take too seriously it's a decent game. Especially if you really liked Duke Nukem 3D.

I'm thinking about picking up the Sam & Max bundle even though I already have the Devil's Playhouse for PS3 (it was free with PS+). Anybody played through Season 1 & 2 and think they're worth it for $12.49?

They're good. Season 1 isn't quite up to par with the rest, but Season 2 is about as good (most episodes are good, one or two not as good) as Season 3.

Now is Season 3 and The Devil's Playhouse the same thing? Because looking on Steam they only have Season 1, 2, and DP. I'm kinda new to Sam & Max so I don't really know how the series progresses. I know there's supposed to be a new one coming out before too long and I'm looking forward to that one.

GODDAMMIT.
I have way too many games. I don't need any more. I'm getting broke; because I think I'm saving money. I do need to get around to playing Mass Effect, though... and all them Oddworld games...
Valve, you are devilishly clever. I hereby give you $20 to do with as you wish.
