Because this shall cause the police to investigate and find out that Nintendo does have a Wii and 3DS that can actually print money, and proceed to shut them down.
Obviously.

@wqerty Haters gonna hate. Saying Nintendo is doomed after making so many hardware/software sales is like saying Microsoft is making an operating system that doesn't crash or doesn't require a reboot after a system update.

Awesome. I picked up the Skyward Sword bundle with the gold Wiimote on Friday. Still have to go to Kmart and use my $20 credit from Uncharted 3 to get Mario. I'm just waiting to see if they have it on sale to save even more.

Yeah I got the bundle too. Honestly, Nintendo is like a very abusive GF. They piss me off, don't give me enough, and are full of tricks and lies. But they always bring me back with a new Zelda or Pokemon or Mario game.

Wii's a great deal at the $99 many places were offering it at, and without a doubt, the Triple-A quality of Zelda: Skyward Sword drove many purchases, including from people who'd previously bought and later sold their Wii's.

Nintendo's doomsayers have never been right yet; it doesn't seem likely that they'll be right any time soon :p

Happy to see Skyward Sword getting some love. Yes, Nintendo isn't a humble indie dev and they'll undoubtedly sell more copies than the bible, but that doesn't change the fact that it's nice to see one of the best Zelda titles in a decade do so well.

A Metroidvania-style Castlevania with beautiful 2D artwork and good usage of the stereoscopic feature (Mario 3D made me not want to turn off 3D)? Sign me up for that.

I bought a 3ds at launch and the wait for an original fun game was so hard so far I've played Oot ads, Starfox 64 ads, Cartoon Network Punchtime, Mercenaries and Super Mario 3d Land. Now that original titles are coming out there's no reason to wait lol

Welcome back, big N. Bringing the PAIN this holiday season. 3 new 3DS bundles, for every demographic... main series Wii Zelda release, and Mario Land and Mario Kart 7 to boot.

I hope some people bought stock while it was falling, haha.

Bought my fiance the Zelda 3ds (and she has been loving the heck out of it). Friend of mine bought one. Two more friends are buying 3ds systems next week (one is getting the pink and the other is just waiting for payday and to trade in his DSiXL). That will make it so every close friend I have has one.

Also picked up Skyward Sword LE, but haven't started it yet due to finals but I did just 100% Super Mario 3D Land.

I love Nintendo again, at least. Things were rocky for us for a while, but I'm cool with the N now.

Im hoping they do the smart thing and make it a Wii U launch title. No offense, but software on the Wii(from a non Nintendo company) is at an all time low right now. But if they can market Xenoblade and Last Story as the big hit Launce titles for the Wii U next year, then that would boost sales to greater heights for them.

I find it pretty hard to believe they'll re-release Xenoblade and bump up the graphics for a Wii U launch title. Ive had my copy for a week but Zelda and Kirbys Epic Yarn have stolen my time.

I didn't get this bundle, but I did get a normal 3DS for $99. It was a Texas only promotion though and I didn't have to stay up or go to a doorbuster sale or anything. I just took the ad to a Walmart and they price matched it.

Nintendo will only ever give you Mario and Zelda, and people will continually buy their systems solely for those games. At its core, this is all Nintendo is, and all they will ever hope to achieve because that is where the money is.

Nintendo is the only gaming company that consistently pushes innovation through gameplay. Sometimes they reach beyond the mark, it's true, but would you rather have every generation play like the Xbox, PS2, NGC era, i.e. the most boring generation of time and all eternity?

What a ridiculous thing to say. They have a ton of franchises outside of Mario and Zelda. Sure we haven't seen some of them in a while and sure they don't sell as well, but their is a lot more to Nintendo than their two Mega Franchises.

IF you ignore the fact that it's Mario or Zelda you can see just a fun game. I know many of people who enjoyed SMG but say it's one of the worst games, because it has Mario in it. I've so many people who try to convince me Mario games aren't fun because they're so many of them. All I simple say is,"They never feel the same."

@A Sandwich How is the competition boring? Instead of focusing solely on a hit-or-miss innovation in the way games are played, there are a consistent amount of quality titles made for the way games are meant to played, with a controller in your hand.

There is always innovation in trying new things, and it isn't solely Nintendo taking that route. Microsoft pushes innovation with the Kinect, and I believe the Vita has some new innovations as well.

@(Unverified) Not at their core. There are a few other franchise and titles Nintendo occasionally releases, but they aren't system movers. They won't even bother localizing and releasing fan-favorite tiles because they don't have to when they make money hand-over-fist with Mario and Zelda games, which bank so highly on nostalgia and copy/paste formulas it practically negates the innovation they're known for.

You misunderstand what I'm saying. I just see no benefit to all three home consoles packing the same specs and virtually identical controllers. This gen has seen the biggest variety of quality titles due mainly to innovations in how we play games. Of course Microsoft and Sony have contributed, but not really in terms of gameplay. Their contributions stem mostly from innovations in online play and distribution; acquiring and developing talent from smaller studios. Sure, I have a Kinect and it's okay, but it's finicky at best and not well supported. The Move ... well ... are we really still pretending that it's not a Wiimote knockoff with blue balls?
As for the Vita, I will totally get one. I travel for work and having a console experience in my pocket sounds great for nights alone at the hotel. But the Vita doesn't "innovate" shit. "A touchscreen, but whoa, now it's on the back!" doesn't count, in my opinion.

@A Sandwich It sounds like you acknowledge other companies provide innovation, but you're willing to quickly write it off as it doesn't count simply because Nintendo isn't responsible for it.

The technology of the Wii and 3DS only seems to be in full-effect in Mario and Zelda titles, as third-parties and even other franchises don't really understand how to use these technologies as effective game-play devices. This is true of everyone in the industry, not just Nintendo.

Similar specs and controllers aren't boring, it's familiar. The quality of the games is what really matters. When you have to buy extra hardware peripherals or learn whole new control schemes just to adapt to the what is mostly gimmicky technology, it takes away from the immersion of the game because you have to wade through so much setup and a bunch of tutorials.

I wouldn't so easily undercut innovations in online distribution and online play either. Over the past few years some of the best titles I've played were purchased from the Xbox Live Marketplace, an area that the PSN understands, and Nintendo is so far behind in it's embarrassing.

My point is Nintendo doesn't really care about investing in new IPs, localizing successful games in other regions, or even supporting third-parties because they don't have to. As long as they have Mario and Zelda titles to drive their hardware sales, they won't strive to achieve anything greater, which has echoed true with everything revealed about the Wii U. Even the innovation there is lack-luster, as it basically amounts to shoving an iPad in a controller.

So clearly about 499,999 other people had the same idea to finally get a 3DS on Black Friday with all the crazy deals. I'm not regretting the purchase, especially with all the Cyber Monday deals I've been taking advantage of today (Rayman 3D, SSF4, Pilotwings, and Cave Story 3D for about $55 altogether).

Now maybe Nintendo will learn to price their handhelds appropriately for the future.
