You know what I would love to see, to see the reviews of 3DS/PSVita games be valued as much as those of console games. Specially if in this industry we want to separate them from iOS/Android games.. just a thought.

@Eniko
Did you read Mario Kart 7's and SM3DLand's reviews?
They had pretty much the same effort as a console review if you ask me

Due to the face button placement of the 3DS(A, B, X, Y); wouldn't it be a little tedious to use with the game?

/confused

@foxhound nope, you basically move your thumb a bit to the left and you're on the face buttons.

Ah, just checking - thanks for the quick response! :]
I couldn't tell by the article picture if the 2nd circlepad was parallel to the face buttons or not. Seemed like an ergonomic nightmare at first.

@Hunter141072 I don't care how it looks as long as it improves games.

It certainly decreases portability by a factor of 10,000.

Looking at that image, I get the feeling that Nintendo's solution to the 3DS' battery life problems will be a power pack that goes around it, plugs into the wall, and mounts to a table.

They couldn't just put a pad cover on the face buttons, move the button mappings to the d-pad, and assign functions to the touch screen?

...eh?

Anyway you paint this, it's a messy add-on. But it's think it would be nice to not turn the current 3DS into a butcher block-sized system.

@CaptainProtonX Everyone who has touched this device has said it feels fine.

AND IT'S OPTIONAL

People seem to forget that.

They could have just made the "Aiming" be controlled by moving the 3ds around similar to in the AR shooting games. This addon is just messy, ugly, and bulky.

Thankfully this thing is optional.. Not a big fan of bulking up my nice Zelda 3DS.

I really am trying to stay positive about my 3DS purchase and know that it's still early and it will probably be worth it in the long run BUT... if they start making the best games have to use this I'm gonna RAGE.

This add-on is absolutely hideous and completely takes the portability out of the 3DS imo. It's no longer a pocket device. Maybe a man purse/backpack device but I don't carry those so yah. ;P

@(Unverified) It's always optional. They've said this already.

And as for it being "bulky". It's the size of the Vita, which is apparently a portable device.

Just put it in your fanny pack, then.

@Nergy Thanks for the clarification. As long as the games don't require the control scheme and offer both, I'm fine with it (not that Nintendo gives a rats what I think lol).

And the Vita is THAT big? Dang, that's surprising. I thought it was going to be only a tad bigger then the current 3DS.

@ A Sandwich My dad wears fanny packs but I refuse!!!!

@(Unverified) If you're putting your 3DS in your pocket, you're asking for trouble anyway. I hope you're not overly fond of your shoulder buttons.

@Roto13 Well it's usually in a coat pocket or my camera bag (which barely fits it with all the gear I have and it being pretty small). And I keep the little foam insert in there and put it in a sock so it's pretty well protected. I would never put it in my jeans or something! haha

If the game itself is $50, I'm certain the special edition just screams value.

Seriously, the early adopter burn with this console must be the worst ever. $130 price drop, no good games until recently and now this...

@(Unverified) I know it's silly, but I'm honestly holding back on buying the 3DS until the second model comes out. At that point I know they've redesigned based on complaints and have added a bit to the screen or the buttons. After buying a fat first edition DS and comparing the screen to ANY later model I massively regretted my purchase. It's like the old screen has a huge gray-ish with dim lights to make sure I don't get good contrast.
