The DX11 patch has already been released. The official patch will be released once Microsoft decides to release it. >.>

This is a pretty boring week. Especially considering Christmas is coming.

Trine one is pretty awesome.
My only complaint was the lack of online co-op.

Trine 2 is pretty exciting for me.

@Wizardsofwaverly So in the future I'll refrain from commenting on the week's releases on a post about the week's releases. Got it.

@Roto13 I'm guessing they're saving things for the week of Christmas. You know, when kids get those too cool AmEx gift cards that act like little credit cards. At least that's what I'm hoping.

I'm glad it's a boring week. My wallet is still hurting from October and November, and I haven't even picked up everything I want from November yet.

I think this might be the week where I set aside Gears and Saint's Row and finally break down and crack open Skyrim. Goodbye outside world!

You might want to wait until Bethesda releases their final patch... And for the month following that where the fans fix all the problems with the game.

Depends on what version he has, the 360 version has worked relatively fine for me so far.

Or just play offline. I've been playing offline on the 360 with it installed for 146+ hours and had minimal problems. Enjoy!

You can say that again! My last save last night showed 187 hours. My Oblivion last save was at 325 hours. Considering I've barely scratched the surface of Skyrim, I'm sure to surpass it. This game is enormous and impressive.

Meanwhile Halo: CEA and SR3 still sit unopened. :/

I see Final Fantasy Six is in there for PS one classics, hmmm...... now, no one go crazy but..... I have never played any Final Fantasy game before *ducks at thrown shoe* and I have heard that this is one of the best of the series. Should this be my first one?

It's my personal favorite. I've only played the SNES version so I don't know if there's a difference in optimization or localization or what ever it is J-nerds get worked up about when it comes to these games. But yeah, I'd recommend starting with either this or IX, which is also on PSN.

@SovereignSky might as well start somewhere. If you like it, try FF7, and if you like that, try out FFT (FFT is verrrrry different from those other two, but its got a huge fan following, and is one of my personal FF favorites)

@SovereignSky VI is a great game and a fine place to start, but I wouldn't get this one. The load times, while better than the load times in PS1 Chrono Trigger, are pretty annoying. If you have a Wii, get the Virtual Console version (called Final Fantasy III) or if you have a GBA or DS Lite, try and track down Final Fantasy VI Advance. The PS1 version is not one I would reccommend to anybody, and Final Fantasy VI is my favourite game ever.

@SovereignSky Also, before it comes up, no, running from a hard drive doesn't make this version load any faster, because the load times are hard coded. :P

To be frank, I believe one of the biggest draws of the RPG’s, especially turn based, menu combat RPG’s, is the graphics. Without nostalgia, I don’t think anyone can sit through an NES or PS1/N64 JRPG these days. But then again maybe that’s me, it’s just that these are such story driven affairs that I need something pretty to look at so I don’t get bored while grinding the attack command again and again.

What are the load times in Chrono Cross on PSN like? I haven't tried it yet for the reasons above, but maybe my nostalgia for Chrono Trigger will carry me through.....

@Vic Fontaine Load times in the PS1 version of Chrono Trigger are so bad I actually didn't like Chrono Trigger my first time through because it was the PS1 version. Look them up on Youtube. They're so bad you might think you're watching a troll or parody video. Never, ever play the PS1 version of Chrono Trigger. Virtual Console or DS version is the way to go. (The DS version even has all of the bonus features from the PS1 version and more, it just doesn't have the load times.)

Karkand!

And I wanna check out the Goldeneye demo. I have a feeling it might be a fun nostalgic romp for 4-player split-screen multiplayer! Anyone play it? I'm thinking of picking up a copy for Christmas vacation, if the demo seems fun, and I hear good things.

@aroGADGET I hated it. I knew it would be different, but I didn't realize that it wouldn't even admit it was different. It's like saying you want a PB&J, and I give you a bologna sandwich and assure you it tastes just the same. "Well, they really aren't that different," you say, "and they are both a sandwich."

Then the mustard hits when you remember that PB&J has no mustard. Then you snap out of it and say "Why the hell am I playing this?!"

Then you go play something else.

This is the time where games have stopped coming out so we can actually play what we have bought over the past 2-3 months. I finally can start on Dead Island once I finish games that recently came out and started procrastinating on Skyrim and Halo CE Anniversary...as long Gamefly & XBLA deals are horrible I will get through my backlog....

I am so, so glad that there's nothing coming out for the next few weeks because I have a super massive backlog of games that I really need to catch up on. In fact, I'm wanting to wrap up the last two Yakuza games as well as White Knight Chronicles Origins and WKC II before January. There's just going to be so much JRPG goodness come next year that I want to get through as many of my current collection as possible before they arrive.

2012 is gonna be awesome . . . . . . At least until December 21st.
