Ninja Gaiden 3 leaps to retail in March 2012

We've got good news and we've got bad news, folks. Let's start with the good: Ninja Gaiden 3 will arrive on Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3 next March, with a Wii U version to follow at some point after that. Team Ninja head Yosuke Hayashi told as much to a crowd of journalists in San Francisco this afternoon, according to our reporter on the ground.

Now, friends, the bad news: despite a new easy mode, and the notorious absence of a known masochist at the helm, we're still quite confident that Ninja Gaiden 3 is gonna be super duper hard. Like, way hard. Maybe you haven't played the other two? 'Cause they're both pretty hard games, guys.

Man, I feel like I haven't seen/read much about this game... I guess I shouldn't complain about a ninja game's furtiveness.

I thought I was ready for Demon's Souls after Ninja Gaiden Black and Ninja Gaiden 2, VVVVVV and Super Meat Boy, Bayonetta and Devil May Cry 3, hell even Battletoads... But Demon's Souls reduced me to a quivering baby, halfway between selling the game and snapping my controller in half.

@Sabrage Were you playing the easiest mode in those games, or something? Demon's Souls isn't hard. Master Ninja Mode in a NG game makes Demon's Souls/Dark Souls damn easy.

Demon's Souls was cake compared to Ninja Gaiden Sigma's "Normal" mode. I can't think of another game I beat, while being frustrated the whole time.

@WeRequireMOARMinerals Where applicable, I play my games on "Normal." I don't use walkthroughs for any game.

It's by Hayashi, and I've already seen plenty of his new ideas. The game is going to blow.

I don't think this will turn out very well. I hope it's great, and I'll probably buy it, but this game scares me.

I remember playing the very first boss in the first game and getting my ass kicked for a good hour before I found the correct technique. After that it was the same with all bosses. Look for the pattern in which they attack and find the strongest moves to use when they are vulnerable.

Ninja Gaiden Sigma was very challenging, Ninja Gaiden Sigma 2 was a walk in the park and way too easy. Its hard difficulty was like the first game's normal. I'll probably sit this one out or get it cheap.

um...that is the DOPEST CHAIN I've ever f*cking seen! You kids' version of Ninja Gaiden started on Xbox I'm sure.

@NOVAtr1be it can be made for about $1. its just perler beads. used to make a ton of them.

The game is going to be hard HOW though? Seriously, I could load up a bunch of homing rockets in a side-scrolling shooter that only stop after a minute and claim my game is "hard".

This guy hasn't proven crap though. SoB breaks up the momentum for a completely ridiculous reason (that might make it harder), removing variety of weapons so you only have swords might make it harder, and the fact that (apparently) you NEED to build up and use your "Ninpo" just to move on to the next part of the game just sounds tediously annoying, not hard.

Damn, March 2012 is getting more packed w/ games!

bring back the 2D ninja gaiden

The best Ninja Gaiden was the first one on xbox that's it.

I platinumed NGS2 just to be ready for this.... bring it on!

Hard because the camera is so shit, and instead of worrying about controlling your avatar most of the time you're just trying to get your cam positioned right.

The first xbox NG was fine in difficulty, gamers need to grow a pair and enjoy the badass ninja action. Hate that whole casual gamers bullcrap that's taking the video game industry

I never got into these games. Loved the ones on NES but found the later versions a little too difficult and repetitive for me. Didn't like the gameplay enough to continue. Not saying it was bad, just not my type. Looked fantastic though.
