this looks a lot like the XBLA list. the only things here that i haven't tried yet are Back to the Future and the Infamous add-on. going to have to check those out...and i'm really not sure how Hard Corps keeps making their lists. maybe it's just me, but damn that game is ridiculously stupid in almost every way.

@Liquidfingers

It's Contra. It's supposed to be ridiculously difficult, tense fun.

@Liquidfingers Infamous 2 isn't DLC, it's a standalone game. Not that it matters if you already had the game anyway.

Have to disagree on Stacking, as someone who loved Costume Quest to death. It's cute and fun for the first level or two, and then it starts to feel like a grind. The jokes wear off, and you are just running around hoping to happen on that trick that moves you forward. It's neat and different, but ultimately unsatisfying IMO.

@That One Guy

Paid a lot less than that for PvZ on my phone and found it horribly tedious, just like Angry Birds. Played it for an hour on a plane, and could not possibly imagine playing it for more than a minute on a home console.

If you've played InFamous or InFamous 2 and at any point thought, "If only I could play the same game, but without a morality system constantly watching me and judging my every move," then you should get FOB. It's a fun change of pace, the upgrade system is streamlined and more linear, and you can just play it without making any decisions whatsoever. You know, before you go back to kicking and/or saving baskets of puppies in the actual campaign.

It's also got just the right amount of Halloween campiness for me, but that's just a matter of taste :P

my holiday psn buyers guide list would be very different from this list, half the games on joystiq's list i have no interest in.

Dungeon Defenders is great. HOWEVER, I would recommend holding off until it's patched because right now it's a mess with no ETA of a fix. It'll screw up your trophy synching for good because they're not even in the system.

@RickGhastly

I got the PC version from the steam sale last week. The game is very entertaining, but the online is pretty much a mess. When I saw it was on PSN I thought that the PSN version would be more stable. Thanks for the heads up.

Seriously. I bought PvZ for 99 cents, and I can really only imagine playing it on a phone...or PC. $15 for PSN is just crazy, buy PixelJunk Monsters instead.

infamous fob is definitely worth it. I enjoyed it more than either of the full games. Tons of atmosphere, and the story telling was pretty cool. even the user generated stuff was decent

Renegade ops should be on the list too, I think it's on sale at the moment

@(Unverified) I have done 3 full playthroughs of PvZ on the phone, one of the best 3 dollars I have spent.

It's a tower defense game of course it's tedious! Personally, I played it until I beat it. Amazing game.

This is a great gift list! I have a couple of gamers that I wanted to shop for but am semi-clueless to the gaming world! I will definitely have to refer to this list and this Gamers Holiday Gift Guide > http://www.skinnyscoop.com/list/scrappinmichele/gamers-holiday-gift-guide
