Splitting games into episodes feels like another ploy to nickle and dime chumps who impulsively buy crap from the app store.

@Marshillboy

Im starting to think that comment #1 on Joystiq holds a certain requirement of inevitable fail?

@Unarmed Turkey
Sometimes the first comment is a win, sometimes a fail.

@Marshillboy - So you'd rather just have to pay $15 (going by today's sale prices) up front instead?

I'd much rather pay $2.99 for episode one and then have the option to continue paying per episode if I like it than to pay $15 and find out it's not my thing.

Id prefer to pay $2.99 for one part to learn my fate, if the 1st part impresses me then its down to choice as to whether i will continue to purchase remaining parts, as opposed to paying $15 for something i will never play

I got episode 1of monkey island free on ipad and episodes 4 and 5 free on Wii months ago. Even at $3 each, that makes the complete monkey island $6 which is still too much considering I got the gears tripple pack for $8 from best buy on black Friday.

They're an indie developer in a tough economy with a rough audience.

The episodic nature means they can pump out the titles as they're working on it, and also get a cheap "demo" in your hands before you decide to buy the whole game.

I enjoyed Jurassic Park pretty well. Of course I'm a big Jurassic Park fan so I think I would've played it no matter what. Though if it wasn't about Jurassic Park I would've quit after the first episode for sure.
