I assume that if you prestige it still counts as a level 100 for the Seriously 3.0 achievement. I am nearly level 100 myself.

I don't suppose there's any news on what maps might feature? A couple of old favourites and three new ones would be nice. I'd like to see Grindyard again and perhaps Nowhere.

The majority of games which have a "prestige" like system reset the majority of your stats/unlocks when you active them so I'd wait to see what other peoples experiences are before doing it if you're working towards Seriously 3.0.

Apparently we felt Raam's shadow deserved another sucker punch?

It's cool you guys have an opinion, but we're agreeing to disagree. You don't need to keep going on about it like its your duty to let the world know one dlc was sub-par.

Heres my question.

RAAM's Shadow was underdeveloped, yet Modern Warfare 3 is 5 star material....?

Aw, they're releasing the Beta skin (Cole) and Amazon pre-order skin (Savage Kantus) to the masses... I kinda enjoyed playing with those because they were more rare to see. Bummer

I feel you. I was like "Yeah, now I can finally play as the thrashball Cole! ... Aw man, I won't be special for having ordered from Amazon anymore..." And decided I wished the exclusives would stay that way.
And also, I wish it was the Gamestop Pre-order specials that got screwed cause Gamestop SUCKS.

I'm 50/50 on that. I feel special for having Cole Train, but man do those greyed out heads on the character selection screen bug the hell out of me.

I will never hit level 100, unless they have a 25x XP weekend that coincides with someone breaking into my house and smashing my Skyrim disc. :( Harsh reality.

@baby sea tuna They should do a 25x XP event just because getting to lv50 is too much of a grind when there's other games to play

I won't smash your Skyrim disc, but I will be happy to liberate it from you. I will use my level 100 Sneak Skill, I will be right in front of you, and you won't ever see me!

Here are the maps. Escalation from Gears 1 and four new ones.

· Academy – The lineage of the Fenix family can be traced back along a distinguished line of military officers. Officer training at the Oracle Academy was simply the expected path for Marcus, and he had visited the grounds many times in expectation that he would walk the same path as his ancestors. But it was not to be, and Marcus broke with tradition to be with his best friends Dom and Carlos. Like any number of fine Seran traditions, the Academy is now lost to the invasion of the Locust Horde.

· Anvil – The fortress of Anvegad was called Anvil Gate because its impenetrable walls were forged in the fires of war. Huge cannons sat atop battlements that guarded sprawling walls running the line of the UIR borders. Marcus went there to find Hoffman, and they both thought that Anvil Gate would offer protection from the incoming forces of Locust and Lambent. They were wrong, and little remains other than the ruined shell of a once mighty fortress.

· Depths – The excessive opulence of Azura defied all normal reasoning. Adam Fenix however could see the cracks in the veneer of splendor from the moment he arrived at this underwater processing center. All that beauty mattered not at all once he was held captive by the Locust. Out of options, he had to find a way to contact Marcus, and finally reveal the truths he’d been keeping to himself for all these many years .

· Escalation – Haldane Hall has been the home of the Fenix family for countless generations. But the only history that matters to Marcus are his memories of warm summer evenings spent with his mother, Elain, relaxing in the estate’s gardens. Sadly, all the estate’s history and beauty was lost when the Locust destroyed it in an attempt to kidnap his father.

· The Slab – Convicted for insubordination and treason, Marcus was incarcerated in Jacinto Maximum Security Prison. Known as “The Slab”, this prison is not a correctional facility - it’s a place where Sera’s worst offenders are locked up and forgotten. The inmates are brutal, parole is not an option, and the average life expectancy is about two years. But that was before the Locust showed up, and what couldn’t get worse, suddenly did. Now your life expectancy there is around 2 minutes.

Hey, I know you're a gears vet so I was wondering what you think about them bringing back Escalation?

Personally I think it's a poor choice, especially when we already have Blood Drive.

I have no clue why Joystiq is going off on the Shadows of RAAM pack, I thoroughly enjoyed it and the RAAM parts were fresh change of pace that just let me have a bit of fun.

If any of the packs were subpar, it would be the Horde Command Pack. $10 really just gets you a few Horde goodies, some of which were already in the game, like the Silverback rocket, some character skins and weapon skins. The maps were released for free later on, so that pack in itself right now is the only subpar in my honest opinion. But so long as the next two DLC packs are worth their weight, the Season Pass will have been worth it.

RAAM's shadow was absolutely brilliant, I will admit that the RAAM Segments felt a little underdeveloped but they got the idea across that you are a nigh on invincible killing machine.
The rest of it was brilliant.

Horde Command seems a complete rip so far.

I have liked everything so far. The Horde Command Pack was ok, my only complaint is that it was all on disc. If it wasn't on disc, even though you can use the silverback rockets in the campaign, I would have had no problems with that.

Still waiting on buying a Season Pass (spreading my limited time between Gears3 and Arkahm City still). Looks like I should wait a little longer.

Wondering if all these DLC will be discounted at different times in the future....don't really need Horde Command at this point so I could save money buying Ramm's Shadow later on...

If you've waited this long, you should wait. I can guarantee you the maps (the only part worth your money) will be free for everyone to play on versus. Just like they did with the booster map pack.

And now it's time for another Good Idea, Bad Idea.

Good Idea: Prestige in a game where the levels simply unlock skins and serve as bragging rights.

Bad Idea: Prestige in a game where levels unlock weapons and equipment necessary to successful and enjoyable play time, and where going prestige wipes out all of the progress you've made over the past weeks.

Well there are no weapon unlocks attached to rank so there is no reason to not reset your rank once you hit 100.

@Hyperion45 That's why I like games like Gears and Halo who are going with the cosmetic approach than CoD, I like to stand out differently than my teammates and it doesn't give me a competitive edge, making things fairer. Getting into CoD for the first time, in any game, is gonna be an intial pain the ass just becase there are bound to be people who just happen to have better perks and weapons than you.

I hope the maps are for those who have paid for it. Any free DLC is great but when people bought the 'Horde command pack' for the maps, skins, upgrades etc, the maps were thrown as part of a free download anyways and I felt a little cheated in that way.

The real question is will I actually be able to play these maps when they come out? Or will I have to wait for them to be released for free to everyone else like last time? I still haven't played the first DLC maps yet because they weren't released (in a useful form) until after better game were released.
I feel very ripped off from this season pass thing that I bought. But I guess I shouldn't have expected anything different from Epic Games!

I find it very odd to be honest, the first DLC was basically a skin pack, the second was brilliant, the next is just adding a copy of something from CoD ans some new maps which probably won't be exclusive to it?

Hey Alex, the only people that thought Raam's shadow sucked was you. Every other comment on here was from people who thought the DLC was really enjoyable and well-developed. You've already stated in the past review what you thought of the DLC, yet you use a different story to go back and keep jabbing at it. I thought Jessica Condit only worked on the weekends.

i've always admired joystiq for their honest unbiased reviews, but there was something very off with that dlc review almost as if you guys were intentionally looking for faults. gotta agree with slight of ham here and say you were in the minority and one of the few to dislike the dlc, it's shame really because i thought the dlc campaign was fantastic. give it another go guys!

I'm happy to be getting Thrashball Cole again, because for some reason it didn't unlock in the full game even though I got it in the beta.

I'm excited for the new maps and skins, but really not excited for escalation. We already have Blood Drive, which was the same type of thing but it fixed everything that was wrong with Escalation. Oh well.

"already well-versed in rolling shotguns."

I wish people who knew more about the games wrote articles on them. The rifles have more kills than shotguns in Ranked matches...

This DLC looks great btw.
