Terry Cavanagh's great platformer VVVVVV is heading to a 3DS near you as promised: The game has been set for release on the Nintendo eShop next week. Starting December 29, you'll be able to grab the game (published by Nicalis, the company behind Cave Story and its various iterations) for a price of $7.99 on your 3DS, and take on the game's many frustrating yet ingenious challenges for yourself.
Or, if you've never played the title before, you could go try out the free Flash version, or play it on PC or Mac as you wish. It's a great and well-made experience for sure, but bring all of the patience you have. You'll need it.

What a suprise, the 3DS gets even more ports.

Two reasons why you're an idiot.
1) Every system gets ports. Especially in the begining of it's life. iOS, Windows, PS3, X360, Xbox, PS2, Wii, etc. It's called "making a game accessible regardless of what system you prefer to game on." Not sure why this is a BAD thing to make games accessible.
2) This is at the moment the only 3D inclusive system - Meaning people who want to represent their game in 3D have the option of this (which requires no additional hardware), or a PS3/X360 with a 3DTV and glasses. Considering the 3DS is cheaper for purchase than any of those three items individually, and it's significantly cheaper to develop for... Anyone looking to test the waters of 3D has the perfect solution with the 3DS.
Quit trolling. Go celebrate ecks mas.

"Until Layton vs Wright releases"
Until I get a sequel to something that was once original, it's useless!
Say what you will, I love my 3DS when it isn't out for repairs. I've enjoyed it since day 1. While there has been a slump of games - That's inherent with any console's launch window. They're always either tech demos (Lair, Wii Sports), cheap sequels, or short unpolished titles (Pilotwings Resort). With Monster Hunter, Resident Evil, Pushmo, Kid Icarus, Final Fantasy Theatrythm, Kingdom Hearts, etc coming up and it hasn't even been out for a year - It's in WAY better shape than the original DS was. At this point there was like 8 games TOTAL, and a hope for the future for 007 Rogue Agent, Wario Ware, or Metroid Prime Hunters to release... Which came many many months later.

It's nice to see a game noted for it's stunning representation of a 3D environment getting ported to a platform perfectly suited for it.

Lies. Nicalis games always miss their target date by like two years.

It's a fun game but not $8 fun, even on the 3DS. I'll pass on this one.

@Mmmmz It's a super long game for less than half the price of an XBLA title. So... shut up?

Is this anything like super meat boy?

Yeah. It's a little more puzzle based than Meat Boy, and there's less room for improvisation, but I'd say if you loved Meat Boy you'd at least like VVVVVV. Try the free flash version, it's exactly like the main game (except for the fact it's written in C+).

Love VVVVVV, but $8 seems a bit steep, they should've made it a bit closer to the $5 proximity

How do you try so hard to look legitimate, but still write every p like รพ. That's extra effort to look less realistic. WTF, mate.

So how do you pronounce this game? "V V V V V V"? Or "6 V's"? Or "Veeeeeeeee..."
I love my 3DS, it's probably the best game system (handheld or console) I've ever owned. So glad I bought it after the price drop, but now I missed out on those lovely GBA Ambassador games... :(
