Twisted Metal includes Twisted Metal: Black download code

Over on the PlayStation Blog, David Jaffe reveals that early adopters of Sony's upcoming Twisted Metal reboot will get a bonus game free of charge. Each "Limited Edition" copy of Twisted Metal will be bundled with a download code for Twisted Metal: Black, the 2001 PS2 title, as "a thank you to our hardcore fans," Jaffe notes.

The download voucher will only be included in the first pressing of the game – similar examples of recent memory include Battlefield 3 and Bulletstorm, both of which included bonuses in their first pressings – though Jaffe didn't say how many "Limited Edition" copies would be sent out to retail. Twisted Metal launches in North America on February 14, 2012.

So PS2 titles are now downloadable?

@Stink Snake Some are. If you look on PSN there's now a section called PS2 classics. While the selection right now is slim, they do have some old titles

@Stink Snake , i doubt it would be a strait up ps2 download , it will probally be along the lines of medal of honor frontline which was remastered in hd and came along with trophy support. i'm 95% sure this will be in hd with trophy support , if its not that would be pretty disappointing.

@abercrombieco2 It'll be like all of the other PS2 classics, which are the original versions that have been modified slightly to work on the PS3. It's classic TM Black.

@CrashTunoku did you read that some where or are you guessing that? because medal of honor front lines came with medal of honor and it was hd and with trophy support and that was a ps2 game , just like the other ps2 games that have gotten the hd remaster with added trophy support. David Jaffe doesn't really seem like the type of person that would just put the lazy ps2 classic version over a hd remaster with trophy support.

I so want this game, but with the vita arriving the week after, it's going to have to go on the backburner for some time, ditto for Starhawk.

You might want to substitute that with Assassin's Creed Revelations, or Dead Space 2. I'm pretty sure BF3 didn't deliver.

I remember playing twisted metal on a demo disc splitscreen for so many hours!

Hell yes! I loved Black.

This game is 2.5 months out and I've literally seen 0:00 seconds of actual gameplay, and no gaming sites seem to be previewing it.....

Can't remember the website, maybe it was just on Jaffe's blog, but there are videos not on youtube of Jaffe going very in depth about several multiplayer maps and gameplay aspects all while demonstrating it

I love twisted metal black, I use to play it with friends all the time. First day purchase!

I too loved Twisted Metal Black. Too bad not many people played it. I'll probably pick this one up but not right away.

Thias just made my day. Hopefully the new Twisted Metal is half as good as Black, and that's not an insult.

Love Twisted Metal Black, wonder how long till it hits PSN.

Ten years. It was ten years ago I got a PS2 for Christmas, and TMB was the first game I bought for it a day or two later. I didn't even have the money to buy a memory card for another week or so. Still have my copy within arm's reach here; it's one of the few games that's gone with me every single time I've moved in and out of dorms, apartments, and houses over the last decade, never getting stashed at my parents' house.

Can you tell I'm excited for Feb. 14?

@Boring K My first game on PS2 was MGS 2. It was awesome.

Would have preferred TM2, the gold standard in the TM series thus far. Either way, thanks David and can't wait till valentines day:)

Wow, that's pretty awesome. I'm putting a moratorium on myself against new game purchases to help clear my backlog and save for a 3DS and for the Wii U when it drops, but this sounds like a great deal. Maybe I can drop some hints for my wife; it does come out on V-Day...
