I'm an old Space Quest fan, but II was probably my least favorite of them all. Seems like an odd target for this much effort...

@Kevadu

2 and 3 are the only ones made in the old game engines.

They claim that this game requires 600mb of free hard drive space. I'm pretty sure you could fit the entire Space Quest Collection in that amount of space.

@Gibbeynator

Im pretty sure you could fit the whole collection in only 60megs, if not less.

You could fit it on much smaller than that. Try about 20MB. The first game was only like 1MB.

What's really crazy is looking back at some of these games and seeing their file sizes, when they seem they should be much higher. Curse of Monkey Island of instance. Cartoon animated, voiced, 56MB. O_O

Just a nitpick, it requires a meg of video memory. It actually requires a whopping 32 megs of ram to work. Oh and one of those new bleeding edge Pentium 166s.

@Fulgrymm

I seem to remember running the original on a 12mhz 286...

@Rick1975 Mine ran on a Tandy 1000 w/ 4.77MHz 8088. Loved that thing, even though everything was booted via floppies.

I would criticize them for making it PC only but I suppose since its free and all that I really wouldn't have a leg to stand on.

Would love to play it though.

This comes along just as I was starting to dig out my old DOS games again. Downloading now.

Downloading now just in case it gets a good ol' C&D.

They should remake the 4th game and completely do away with the horrible robot of death and misery that makes the very beginning of the game near intolerable.

A WHOLE MEG OF RAM?! That's unheard of! Storm their offices! Make them pay for this outrageous choice.

Don't forget Space Quest: Vohaul Strikes Back, which is a fangame with a fully-original plot (not a remake) which came out a week before the SQ2 remake, and available at http://www.sqvsb.com

You might get stuck in a few places, especially when a password is required. But don't give up. Remember, legends never sleep.
