Super Meat Boy surpasses 1 million sales

The little infuriating platformer that could, Super Meat Boy, has surpassed a million sales. The announcement was made late yesterday by Team Meat on Twitter. Super Meat Boy passed the milestone last month, maintaining a healthy sales clip since jumping past 600,000 customers last April.
Super Meat Boy made our top ten games of 2010, deftly leaping into a not-so-deadly fifth place.

Super Meat Boy, winner of the 2010 hotstew GOTY award! :D
This is how indie games should be done.

Just 1 million? With all the Steam sales and promotion I thought Super Meat Boy would be way past 1 million by now.
I have 2 copies myself. Xbox Live and PC.

I enjoyed Super Meat Boy quite a bit, but I was rather disappointed with The Binding of Isaac. Namely it's presentation, package and performance. A crappy flash game package for an idea worth giving the Super Meat Boy level of detail.
Still fun but a disappointment nevertheless and makes me wonder how viable these devs are in the long run; especially in light of their sheer stupidity and arrogance. (SQL... He's been doing it forever)

Are you aware of what I'm talking about? Is there a better way to describe it? I would hardly call that negative. It's basically a fact. It's one thing to do something wrong but it's another to totally ignore that error when brought to light and insist you're right when you're obviously wrong.
That's what they did in that situation. Did they ever eat their humble pie? I only followed the day of and I don't know what happened after.
Sorry, but I don't care to stare at devs with unicorn eyes while blubbering how wonderful they are despite their shortcomings.

I've only heard bad things from my friends and the writers I trust so I've skipped out on that. Glad to hear I'm doing the right thing by not buying it.

I got it in the latest humble bundle. Played through the first world in order to get ready for the steam winter achievement... I was not ready at all... those levels were insane.
I looked up the video in youtube to see how to get it done. After watching it I thought: there's no way I'm gonna do that... and to my surprise the most upvoted comment said the same thing. I laughed, shed a single tear for I was not alone, and turned off the pc.

@Dante G I felt dirty, but I used the Super Meat Boy trainer to get it. After getting Golden God on Xbox and unlocking The Kid originally, I knew the pain I was in for after 3 levels, but 5?! I wasn't going for that madness. But yeah, you definitely were not alone on this one.
The funny thing is Team Meat originally submitted a different achievement to Steam where you only had to beat ONE level, but Steam enjoyed the difficulty of that achievement so much they kept it. and thus everyone was trolled this Christmas thanks to VALVe

Well at least it made me play the game. If it weren't for the holiday event the game would have stayed uninstalled for a looong time.
I think I installed like 10 games I already had bought, but hadn't downloaded, during the last couple of weeks.
I must also say that out of the ones I hadn't played, Rock of Ages, Dungeons of Dreadmor and Jamestown were the standouts IMO.

I got this through some cheap bundle and didn't enjoy what I played. I guess I count as one of those million though.

I'll never buy this game. Devs bitching about sales is a quick way to not get my money.

Super Meat Boy is cheap Flash-trash. But because the guys who made it spent most of the development time talking about developing the game and being a 'real cool pair of dudes' they got a following. Their words were waited on by their army of loyal fans. I was one of them.
Then I played the game, realised it was a garbage pattern memorisation game and not a platformer at all. The risk/reward mechanism is broken (which they explain at length on the website... which doesn't mean they know what they're talking about btw), and the game looks like it was literally made in Flash and not cleaned up. Looks cheap and nasty.
People who played it and liked it are in the minority, but Team Meat have a following and the media behind them because they made themselves into Net Celebrities. Just a shame their games are a bit crap.

I find the huge egos of the devs a complete turnoff. In every interview and blog post about team meat I've read, the two of them always come off as arrogant, unprofessional idiots.

I've found it's better to disregard the dev interviews in a way similar to Jonathan Blow. Play their great games, and don't read the interviews that make them look like dicks. It enhances my game enjoyment when I'm not thinking about the idiot devs.

I got it twice. I'm surprised it's only got 1 million in sales, since in my eyes it's the best 2D platformer since the SNES days.

Can anyone confirm or deny that the picture is of Travis Stever from Coheed and Cambria? It just looks so much like him, that I can't help but think that it is him!
