Amy to launch next week with a mysterious price structure

Developer VectorCell may be trying to tell us that things won't be normal in Amy -- its prices and release dates are more complicated than they first appear. Amy will drop in Europe on Jan. 11 for XBLA and PSN, and the US version will launch on Jan. 11 for XBLA. The US PSN edition launches on Jan. 10.

That wasn't so hard -- but we haven't yet gotten to the prices. Amy will cost $12.99 (€9.9, £7.99) on PSN, and 800 MS Points on XBLA. 800 MS Points converts to $10 (€7.82, £6.46), which, for the mathematically challenged, is $3 less than the PSN version. It must cost a lot to come out a day early, or maybe this is just another way for VectorCell to keep us in the dark.

The game is also coming to PC, but VectorCell says it won't be until "several months after the PSN/XBLA version, and we can't announce a date yet because we haven't totally finalized our distribution deals." What a twist!

@R5 they probably figure that after taking it in the ass for $10 a month just to access 2/3 of their game's content (aka multiplayer), Xbox gamers need a lower price or they won't buy it.

Not sure what being mainstream or not has to do with the people that are truly anticipating Amy. Do you really need the mainstream to tell you what games to like and what not to like?

@milespieri What's the problem? It's still got an exclusive price on PSN.

Two target markets, two price points. Price discrimination happens in every industry. This is just another form of it. It may be a little too bold if it results in a backlash from gamers though.

I wonder if consumers would have even noticed if they didn't read this.
Personally I have never compared prices between the two services, but maybe I should start doing that.

Right now Shank is $9.99 on the PS Store, but 1200 msp ($15). That is the only one I've ever noticed, and I usually monitor price changes on PSN/XBLA fairly closely.

Well that's bull**** for lack of a better word.

If there is no PSN+ deal I'll be trying XBL version. I'd probably end up getting that version anyway. As I do with most multi-platform games.

Never heard of this, but it looks interesting. At least I know which of my consoles to download it to if I do buy it.

Maybe the PSN version has a platinum trophy (where Xbox version will certainly only have 200 gamerscore) and they think that justifies the extra $3?

I dunno, just throwing ideas out there because that is a WEIRD pricing structure.

Sounds like they wanted a higher price than $10 but thought $15 wouldn't get any sales. And since selling it at any price between those is a no-go on XBLA, that system gets the $10 price while PSN gets the $13 price they preferred (or maybe they were cool with $12, but bumped it up to $13 to offset the cheaper XBLA price).

Those Uncanny Valley eyeballs creep the Bajabbers out of me.

Wow, I was interested in this game from the little I've read about it but:

A. For some reason I thought it was PSN exclusive, and I sold my PS3 years ago.

B. I thought it was coming out later in 2012

So it's pretty awesome to find out it's coming out in a few days, I can actually play it, and it's only $10 to boot. Fingers crossed that it's good.

the last Article on Amy had no mention of a Xbox Tag or XBLA or anything of the sort then i went back another one further for a October article and no update for it coming to Xbox and here it is coming out a week later saying here it is but it's for Xbox as well and cheaper ?
