Minicraft, the game created by Minecraft man Markus "Notch" Persson in 48 hours last year, has been ported to Android devices. It's not an official port of the game, but has instead been (ahem) crafted by Folstad Consulting. The developer implemented touchscreen controls with optional keyboard controls for compatible devices.
If you missed Minicraft the first time around, it's essentially a miniaturized, 2D version of Minecraft. Though it lacks many features found in the bigger Minecraft, it does let you slay enemies, harvest resources and craft items. If you need some crafting on the go, you can download Minicraft for free from the Android Market.

Speaking of Android, please take adverts out of the notification bar Joystiq, that's a tad too intrusive for me.

@DarkTwisted It's most likely a different app and not Joystiq. Try downloading AirPush Detector from the market and it should show you which app is giving you those AirPush (notification bar) ads.

Thought it wasn't called "Minicraft" anymore because too many people were confusing it with "Minecraft"...
Notch renamed it to "MiniTale": https://twitter.com/#!/notch/status/153519292846055424

Did this guy get permissions to do this? The source code was made public as per LD48 rules, but he did not license it for any public usage.

Touché!
Although personally I enjoy building more than mining/adventuring, hence why I would rather play P E.

Uh, 'ported?'
All he did was dump it on the Android Store, as Android Apps are already based in Java primarily (with some Ruby I believe), and the game was already in Java. It would take no more than 20 minutes to opt in the touch screen controls, since there are legions of libraries to use for just that purpose.

It's definitely Joystiq, its the first thing I opened upon starting up my phone. Although it did seem to be a one-of, so I don't mind.
