Kamiya's all about retro games. He loves the Wii Virtual Console. It's not surprising he likes the 3D Classics on 3DS too.

I would think that it would be a *good* thing that many Square Enix devs liked Skyrim, since it is basically a Westernized game.

That opens them up and influences their future development on future games. Hopefully, they will start thinking and experimenting in new and different ways. I mean, to share such ideas and have people hooked, improves the gaming for all of us, right?

Agreed, just hope they didn't get to addicted to it and start making some games lol. JRPG really need some new and fresh blood. Skyrim can surely show them. Fuse that game with the minds the people behind some JRPGs and you could have a mind blowing game.

Also off subject but I really enjoy Platinum games. Love how at times they are over the top.

In some gaming forums here and there I catch sight of some gamers who believe that western gaming influence is some how destroying the Japanese gaming community ingenuity. I feel this is all but wrong if nothing else the game development community can look at all types of games and create new worlds from it. Eastern games and western games don't have to be strictly set on one path.

The gaming community is going to change. New ideas, new designs, and new worlds are what the gaming community needs. While I like sequels I for one feel we are having to many coming out and at such a constant pace. Let those imaginations run wild developers.

There are things I love about Japanese games and things I love about Western games. Games like Bayonetta, Demon's / Dark Souls, and pretty much every Nintendo game ever made show that you can make games that appeal to a global audience while keeping their Japanese-ness.

That's where I want Japanese studios to go--not making half-assed copies of Western games. (I'm not sure that's happening on a wide scale yet, but I do get worried sometimes.)

@Space Cobra but... FFXIII looks like it did in the first place because they said they wanted to add more action elements to it and appeal the western audiences even more. I'd rather see them stick to what they did prior to "caring" for the West.

Pathetic PR for FFXIII-2.

@moro 1. ..all named SkRYim their...
2. SE to employees: if someone asks about your goty tell it is Skyrim. We should lure western audience. When we make FFXIII-2, we inspired by western RPGs. Something like that.
Employees: It is suspicious that Skyrim is everyone GOTY, moreover it was released December 8 here, Takumi Iguchiya even joked that the reason for Dark Souls pick is that Skyrim had yet to be released when he he was asked (the article was written on December 7).
Sorry for my broken English.

@Rikimaru You've got a point about Skyrim not having been released there. Presumably either some people were interviewed at different times or they imported Skyrim. But your theory about it being a marketing ploy is ridiculous.

Hideki Kamiya is much less a tweeter and more of a crazed genius to me. I'm down for whatever game he wants to make.
