Kingdoms of Amalur: Reckoning sets modest PC specs
27
The average hero lives their life day-to-day, most of the time only holding enough coin to fund their next expedition into a haunted mine or dark forest. The true hero is a frugal hero, not one seeking financial gain or notoriety.
A post in the official forums for Kingdoms of Amalur: Reckoning reveals some PC specs sure to surprise and delight those heroes who have stayed the course -- broke heroes, basically. If you haven't updated your equipment in some time, fret not. The only thing that may steer you off the course of adventure in 38 Studios' upcoming game is the graphics card: the minimum needed is a NVIDIA GeForce 8800 GT 512MB or ATI Radeon HD3650 512MB or better; the recommended is a NVIDIA GeForce GTX260 1GB RAM or ATI Radeon HD4850 1GB RAM or better.
Head past the break for the full list of minimum and recommended specs.

My current (way too outdated) setup can't play this, my CPU is a 2.0ghz pentium dual core, Yet It runs Skyrim like a champ.

This is one of the few games I'm totally undecided on, so I'll have to wait for reviews on this one.

Wrong.
its not a "port" of console version. PC and Console versions of this game have been developed side by side.
Also, supports modding as Devs plan to release a toolset (considering the lead designer is the guy who gave us Morrowind, no surprise there)

@Traptz yeah originally planned as an MMO...many many years ago...for the last 3 or so years it's been a single player game. The developers obviously want a piece of the console market and realized that making a PC only product is a mess of pirating and low sales.
It's smart of them, but they shouldn't pretend it's anything more than a console product ported to PC.

@Kitanishi Thank you for being the only person in the entire world besides me who actually knows what the word "port" means. I'm glad I'm not alone. lol.

Nothing original here, move along. I generally like EA's games, however, this one seems to fall more than a little flat, from what I just saw out of 30+ minutes of demo footage.

@Jeremy2112 not everyone needs originality, sometimes it just takes well executed fun. I've never been much into RPGs due to the combat and this one definitely has some pretty great fluid combat from what I've seen. Pre-ordered, paid off, and awaiting Feb 7th so I can play.

I on the other hand generally loathe EA products, but this one is tempting me. Looks spiffy.

Why do you need one to replace another? Are you running out of hard drive space?

Why do you say this:
"The only thing that may steer you off the course of adventure in 38 Studios' upcoming game is the graphics card: the minimum needed is a NVIDIA GeForce 8800 GT 512MB or ATI Radeon HD3650 512MB or better; the recommended is a NVIDIA GeForce GTX260 1GB RAM or ATI Radeon HD4850 1GB RAM or better."
I upgraded my video card recently, and eBayed the used Geforce 9600 GT 512 MB (which has about the same specs as the minimum 8800 GT). The winning bud was $20 plus shipping, so why is the video card requirement an issue again?

Per Wikipedia
GeForce 8800 GT
Pixel Fillrate 9.6 GP/s
Texture Fillrate 33.6 GT/s
Bandwidth 57.6 GB/s
Bus type GDDR3
Bus width 256 bit

Yes the 8800GT is a bit better, but since both spank the crap out of a the other minimum card below with these puny specifications, you would be fine with a 9600 GT.
Radeon HD 3650
Pixel Fillrate 2.9 GP/s
Texture Fillrate 5.8 GT/s
Bandwidth 13 GB/s
Bus type GDDR3
Bus width 128 bit
Processing Power 174 GFLOPs
