Amazon offering dramatic discounts on digital EA games starting this Sunday

Amazon doesn't care for your silly stack of unplayed, unopened games -- it simply wants to trick you into buying more with a variety of impressive deals, albeit on games that exist only in the digital realm. Starting this coming Sunday (the 15th) and running through the end of the week (the 21st), individual EA titles will be offered day by day at ridiculously discounted prices: Bulletstorm and Dead Space 2 for $7 a pop, for instance.
The daily itemized list is just after the break, should you be preparing for yet another (admittedly minor) assault on your bank account in the effort to catch up on 2011's best games. Might we suggest conquering the concept of time scarcity first?
1/15 – Alice: Madness Returns: $7.49
1/16 – Dragon Age Origins Ultimate Edition + Dragon Age 2 Bundle: $11.99
1/17 – Medal of Honor - $6.99
1/18 – Battlefield: Bad Company 2 - $6.99
1/19 – Dead Space 2 - $6.99
1/20 – Bulletstorm - $6.99
1/21 – Crysis 2 - $9.99

I'll bet I have to use Origin for those don't I?

What Dizazter has said is every bit of the truth.
But I'm honestly not sure if Origin is required. I'd typically say "Probably not", but EA's sidewinded me recently.

The sad thing about this story: Steam offered both Bulletstorm and Dead Space 2 for $5 each during the holidays. Both games are fantastic (Dead Space 2 was so good, I named my first son Isaac... True Story) and these are still good prices - just ashame they didn't go "Steam low" with the prices...

Deliberately named him after Isaac from Dead Space. That's sweet, man.

Amazon has little control over that. Valve doesn't control prices on Steam either.
It is all EA, for their games of course.

Yeah, I sure did. Dead Space 2 dropped Jan 25th and my son was born Feb 25th. Dead Space 2 was the last game I finished before his birth and the name Isaac was just ingrained in my brain. My wife and I were arguing over a "boys" name, so I just dropped that on her, and she loved it too.
Funny thing is, my grandma mentioned it to a friend of her's and her friend thought it was because we're Jewish - we're not Jewish - it's just a great name from a great game :)

In one of the endings (I can't remember which one or if it was in both) of Metal Gear Solid, Snake asks to call whoever you end up saving to call him David.

I love it. Even as just a name, it's always appealed to me.
I plan on naming all of my kids with names that start with the letter "A", as that was a tradition in my family that started with me when I was born, and continued with the birth of my siblings.
Now I'm pondering the best video game characters with "A's". Alan (Wake)? Altair (pushing it, maybe? Still a cool one.)?

Or how about naming him after "Shaun" from Heavy Rain?.......
Wait, no. As a father you probably don't want that.

Before we decided on Isaac, we had a handful of other boys names - I was insistent that I wanted a name that meant something to me - so that when he was older, I could show him where we got the name from.
Some other options was:
Altair, Nathan (as in Nathan Fillion), Marcus (as in Marcus Fenix) and Kratos. My wife HATED the name Kratos and we had friends/family who ended up naming their kids Nathan and Marcus. Then with Altair - well, I still have troubles saying the name with the right accent... so that got nixed. When my wife was pregnant, my parents insisted on calling the baby "Mario" (they know my love of gaming).
Fortunately, "Isaac" was wife approved - now I can sit my son down many years from now and show him the Dead Space franchise and his name inspiration.
I think your idea of starting the name with A (for family tradition) while forming your own tradition (of naming it after a game character) is brilliant and I hope more gamer dads do this - a way for us to pay homage to our favorite characters. Alan is a great name (and Alan Wake is a great game) but if you have no problems with the pronunciation, I say Altair would be wicked.

Thanks for the thoughts, man. It's incredible to see how games can be so closely related to family and the real world. Good luck with your son. Seems to be in good hands. :)

My silly stack of unplayed, unopened games... Oh Joystiq and Q4 2011, you know me too well :( So much to play and so little free time. I had better finish them all before Mass Effect 3 comes out or else it'll be another few months before I get to play them!

I loved the Bad Company (1 & 2) storylines. Fun protagonists that are rare in the recent string of "modern warfare" style games.
Multiplayer was good too, but with Battlefield 3 available, I imagine the amount of people playing Bad Company 2 online will dwindle quite a bit.

Single player wasn't anything special, but I enjoyed the multiplayer. Unfortuantely, the amount of people playing the game online (at least on 360) has decreased significantly. It might be better on PC.
If you haven't played Bulletstorm or Dead Space 2, I would recommend them over Medal of Honor any day of the week.

I actually thought the campaign was kinda cool; easily worth $7. It has some pretty fun set-pieces.

Depends on settings. A single 6970 can run at 60FPS on max at 1080p.

I'm gonna get Alice now for $7.50.
Just an FYI, though, the Dead Space games (1 & 2) are both $5 a pop on Steam right now. Save yourself a little more money. They probably install to Steam after you download from Amazon anyway.

Crysis 2 is an absolute steal for $9.99, I got C2 on launch day for full price and do not regret it one bit. BFBC2 is well worth the $6.99 price tag as well, that game still hold holds up extremely well, and the MP is awesome.

Crysis 2 for 10 bucks? Yes, sir! Done and done.
12 bucks is too much for Dragon Age 2. It's not worth it. But it's not nearly enough for Dragon Age Origins, so I guess it balances out.
