SCE VP: Move should have done better in Europe (but it didn't)
19
Sony Computer Entertainment UK VP Fergal Gara said the Move could have, should have done better in Europe, noting that the system's software lineup is crucial to its success. Gara named only one title, Sports Champions, that sold the best "by far" with a few hundred thousand units. We assume he expressed SCE's disappointment with the Move's success in the tone of, "I should have lost 20 pounds by now, even though I never work out and I eat bacon with every meal."
Gara is focusing on future titles to support Move, and by "titles" he means Sorcery (a game announced at E3 2010), and "other things that we know are bubbling under." SCE is stepping up its marketing and internal development for Move, Gara said, hoping to revitalize Move in 2012.

I don't know I liked Sports Champions but it seemed to get old quick, I just finished Resistance 3 with the sharp shooter and it was awesome. Now I have Killzone 3 to tackle yet. I don't know why it's not selling better, I got the Move, PS EYE, Nav Controller, Sharp Shooter, Resistance 3 and Killzone 3 in one bundle for $99. at Best buy.

definately would have done better had games not hindered it from the get go. Socom4 was a huge dissapointment and they gave better control to those who used the sharpshooter over vanilla which is dumb. Then it took months for R3 to fix it to be usable.
I enjoy playing KZ3 and R3 and Mag is ok. But they should have done better with Socom4 and pushed for it more in U3.

The Move has been DOA almost save for some patched title support and Sports Champions.
I'm still trying to get some time to play "No More Heroes", but you'd think this type of controller would have some fantastic games by now for it, esp. that it performs better than wii-motes. More sword-fighting, please!

The problem with MOVE is there aren't enough games, good or otherwise, that are specifically for the MOVE. they consistently want to pitch it as the motion alternative to games I want to play with a controller and thats not how you do it. The Kinect is a Kinect, not an option (outside of a handful of games).

Well for an owner of botht the kinect and a PS Move, I , personally think they both suck ass.
Now, if you were to ask me which is the lesser of both evils, I would go with the Move.
Kinect has a strange appeal at first, it makes you feel all sci-fi at first, but a couple of weeks later it feels like a creepy camera that stares at you everytime you turn your Xbox on.
Who's the asshole who said that they were sick of regular controllers at the game devs meeting?

I bought a move for one title.
That title is sorcery, its been a year and do we even have a release date for it yet? For almost a year I thought it was cancelled, kicking myself from spending $130 on move :/
I expect more titles like sorcery. Not first person shooters with added move support.

i think move is ideal for fps - i hope we see more 3rd party support for it this year. i'm stoked that bioshock infinite is supporting it - that alone has swayed me from the pc version to the ps3.
if infinity ward had included move compatibility in mw3 i probably would have bought the ps3 version rather than xbox (who knows why they didn't considering they alreayd had a wii version - porting the controls would have been relatively easy).

Sony made the classic mistake of releasing some hardware and then not giving it any kind of support.

It's all about the software. Sports Champion was fun, and showed the accuracy of the Move controller, which is its real USP over the others. Same with Tumble.
Other Move games I have played just did not give me that feeling of direct 1:1 control. Just brought me back to Wii remote waggling games. I played the demo of the new EA tennis game and it just did not feel accurate. Strangely felt more like playing tennis using the analog sticks on the Dualshock.
Sony need to make a killer Move only game, advertise it to hell and get word of mouth going - they need to have a must have title. There isn't one today..

Wait, it should have done better? So the product was good, and the marketing was good, but . . . the consumers were broken?
It should have done exactly how it did. Either hype it better, make a better product, make better software, or, better yet, do all three.
I'm amazed at how a massive electronics company like Sony can't figure out how to develop and release an electronics product.
