@DigitalImpulse
Chill the hell out, I'm being completely serious.
It's a sad joke now. :\ The genre was a slick idea, but too many bad "Steampunk-invisioned" versions of other IPs and bad celebrity interpretations (Bieber, WILD WILD WEST movie; to name a few)mucked it up.

Batman should never be a shooter, anyway. End of story.

@JakeAuditore What are you talking about? Batman is a huge proponent of firearms.

Maybe proponent of firearms his adversaries have when he kicks the living shit out of them. As far as Batman is concerned his hands are his guns.

@Courtney If you don't mind kind of old games, Arcanum is a really good RPG where the basic plot premise is steampunk meets J. R. R. Tolkien fantasy. The gameplay/presentation is a lot like Fallout 1 and 2, except clearly updated some since it is more recent than them.

I absolutely love Arcanum, I rank it as one of my favorite PC RPGs of all time thanks to its uniqueness. And I consider the implosion of the old Troika team to be a real tragedy.

THQ didn't make those games. My guess is that this was proposed two years ago which borders around the time that Arkham Asylum came out. So this probably had some licensing issues. MOST licensed products stick to one studio at a time. And I think Warner Brothers is doing a good job with the Batman license. I'm not sure if I want them to keep making them or let it go out on the tremendous note that is Arkham City.

Steampunk Batman sounds interesting to me. Well, other then it being a shooter at least. Also... Dear Day 1, new MechAssault please. Before the original Xbox live was shutdown i actually managed to find a MechAssault 2 game. It was only two other guys but it was fun!

I just don't want an Uncharted-esque 3rd-person shooter. That's not Batman. Batman's Arkham Asylum/City.

I think that DC games based on the Elseworlds comics would be great. There was so many variations to the DC universe through Elseworlds. Whole not all would make great games I know a number would.

Bummer. I really like Gotham By Gaslight, primarily because Mignola is a god among men.

I'm glad THQ didn't make this. They don't usually make the best games, which is why their stock is now less than 70 cents a share.

I'm so glad this didn't happen. Steampunk has become so over hyped and overused, its lost its vanity.

I'm gonna go out on a limb here and say the controls listed in those diagram mock-ups were just placeholder text lifted from some other game. And by "go out on a limb," I mean "assume with certainty." Same deal with the Options menu (and its Gore setting).

Too bad, Gotham by Gaslight was a pretty cool Elseworlds setting. Oh well.
