I know that it is mainly hardcore gamers on here who mock these games, but I will stand up and admit that I (and a houseful of friends and their kids) had a blast playing this on New Year's Eve. Anybody that plays it sober and by themselves needs their head examined, but as a party game it was a lot of fun.

Apparently my Bollywood dancing was quite something to behold.

@Scummer

My wife wanted Just Dance, so I bought her JD2, and she hated it. Her gaming goes as far as The Sims. Now I bought her Dance Central 2, and she absolutely loves it. She even said she doesn't get why so many of her friends play JD when something like DC is available.

@ItsameMatt03 Because Just Dance came first, same reason Rock Band was never able to outsell Guitar Hero

Well in her defence I bought just dance 2 and hated it but just dance 3 for kinect is more fun than a barrel of monkeys we absolutely love it BTW we also liked dance central 1 and 2. I think our thing was the Wii remotes kinda pointed out that the only thing that matters was the controller waggling vs kinect where it is body tracking to a point.

Got my wife JD3 for Christmas, she loves it even though I think the Wii tracking is quite poor. She seems more concerned with getting a workout vs. high scores though so I guess it's all good.

I think the reason why Just Dance is marginally more successful than Dance Central (aside from the need for the addition of a Kinect for DC) is that it plays a little more like a video game, if you know what I mean. People don't like being told (quite accurately too) that they're bad at something, especially when it comes to video games. Just Dance lets you indulge in a fantasy, and as someone who can't move with any sense of rhythm or what-have-you, and has no intention of actually getting better at dancing, Just Dance seems like the correct route for me.

Also, if you're just "tricking" the tracking system, you're really just tricking yourself aren't you?

@MatthewBlackwell No, its just a more established brand. Naming it after the popular Lady Gaga song proved to be a very good idea, that is the reason its a more recognizable brand than Dance Central, which is unfortunately another generic title starting with the word "Dance". And it came first.
