Namco Bandai is really ramping up its trailer output ahead of SoulCalibur 5's January 31 arrival in North America. This time, we get a look at the cinematics contained within the game's story mode, and from what we can tell the whole experience can be summed up in three words: Glowing bloom filters.

I'm eager to start building my phalanx of custom ninja warriors in Character Creation mode. I'll call it the "Big Breast Brigade".
And a story...sure. That's a nice addition.

Make it a hub world you can walk around in with seamless camera transitions to battle to earn XP and new items and I'll be impressed.

@Playace Sounds like you'd be better off playing a totally different game.
Soul Calibur's previous foray into the third-person perspective action genre(Legends) was an unmitigated disaster.
What's important is they nail the combat rather than waste time and resources on a pointless hub world.

I would be thrilled about story mode, but I lost track of what the heck's happening since Soul Calibur 2.... 4 being the most confusing and boring story-wise of the pack.

Please bring back multiple realtime interactive endings for each character like in the original Soul Blade. Making Voldo caress the sword as fast as you could 'til it exploded was awesome.

Man I hope the story mode in this game is as fun as the adventure modes in the earlier games, story mode in Soul Calibur 4 was pretty dire.

That sure would be cool if I could understand a word they're saying.
Just reveal the last characters already!

This is 17 years later. Ivy's "costumes" are probably down to her knees by now. :D

Nah, Ivy is immune to aging I am pretty sure. I am still planning on picking this up. A good story mode would be a nice addition.

Considering the disappointing story mode in the last entry, I'm skeptical of this mode.
