Mortal Kombat goes portable on Vita in 'spring 2012'
40
The folks at Mortal Kombat dev studio Netherrealm have had their hands on a PlayStation Vita dev unit in some form since way back in September 2010, so it stands to reason that the upcoming port of last year's Mortal Kombat to Vita will be packed with bells and whistles. Said port will arrive sometime after the Vita's North American launch this February, with publisher Warner Bros. Interactive pinning a "spring 2012" launch window to the portable fighter.
Studio head Ed Boon promises both "original game content" and "new features" will arrive in MK's Vita iteration, though the announcement PR only teases the inclusion of "several" additions to be "revealed in the coming months." But if Netherrealm follows its usual marketing plan, all of those details will be leaked much, much sooner.
The Vita iteration also include the PS3's exclusive character (God of War's main angry dude, Kratos) as well as all four DLC characters (one Mr. Freddy Krueger, Kenshi, Rain, Skarlet are all pictured on the box above). So it's kinda like that "Komplete Edition," just shrunken down.

Because full blown ports of home console experiences are what the masses are after with their portable gaming needs?
The funniest part is, most everyone with a Vita will be gaming on it in their homes on a WiFi connection sitting right next to their PS3s anyways.
And they say Wii U and its tablet controller doesn't make sense or looks appealing at all.....

I'm not seeing what the problem is.
I hate sitting there in front of a TV to play my games, I'd rather be at my PC. But If I'm going to play a console type game I'd rather have it on a handheld.
Besides, just becuase they're console style games doesn't mean they only work on the console. Uncharted with its short chapters worked very well for me, and I played most of it inbetween stuff at work.

Considering many of the most acclaimed portable titles of all time were very console like games, attempting to capture the home experience on the go, then yes, that would appear to be the case for many people.

Honestly I'm not looking forward to Vita or 3DS, i know 3DS is already out, but it's the first handheld from Nintendo I've had zero desire to own.
I have only played my DSi once away from home, and that was when i downloaded Plants Vs. Zombies and I couldn't stop playing the game. A game that coincidentally is available on my android phone i recently purchased, making the DSi moot for me.
I definitely do not look for home console like experiences on the go. As hyped as you 3 are for this Vita and the PS3 like experience it will bring to you, I still believe you guys are in the extreme minority, and sales will reflect this come Feb. I do expect a strong opening week, maybe even month. However once the early adopters grab theirs, I believe the numbers will drop quickly.

Portability I guess. The 3DS has Street Fighter, BlazBlue, Dead or Alive, etc. along with Tekken and Smash Bros. coming. I guess it just makes sense on handhelds now.

They're the perfect games for on the go. Don't get me wrong, I can't wait to play Uncharted and games like Batman on this thing, but most of the time I play a handheld I have 15 minutes (if that) to play a game unless I'm home. Fighting and racing genres are perfect for this.
I can't say I'm complaining. Those two genres are what I grew up with the most. I just can't get into FPS games like the new generation.

I wonder I'd they have a MK game on tap for the 3DS since they completely skipped out on the DS. I would buy it.
Since this is just a port of a game I already own (on the 360 so no Kratos), I will have to pass on this.

Read my post again. I didn't say I would by a port on the 3DS. This news just reminded my that there was no DS MK game and I wonder if there will be a MK game made for the 3DS. I don't want a port at all if I already own a version of it.
I don't get why it is taboo to mention another console in a post about a different one. Can we not get past that? Probably not. There will always be people who try to call you out and try to make it seem like your biased. Some things never change.
