Save on MW3, Xbox Live subscriptions at GameStop starting tomorrow

GameStop has discounted what we can only describe as an intimidating number of recent and popular releases, including Once Upon a Monster, Need for Speed The Run, Lord of the Rings: War in the North, and ... just go browse. It's a lot of stuff.

It'll be more stuff tomorrow. An email from the retailer let us know that starting tomorrow, Modern Warfare 3 will bear a $10 discount, and one-year Xbox Live Gold subscriptions (normally $60) will be discounted to $40. Perhaps you're a member of the tiny niche audience who is interested in these items; if so, these deals should help!

Some of these are already that price as my local GS. Off the top of my head (cause I was looking at the case a few days ago) Harvest Moon for the 3DS has been $19.99 for a while now at my store.

Looking it over I'd say all the ds/3ds games have been those prices where I go.

@EndynOmni DO NOT get HM 3DS. Not that it's a bad game or anything, but ToTT 3DS has what Natsume has said it believes are "memory leak" glitches that end up in game freezing a lot. Dunno if you were considering it or already knew, but the game is darn near useless at this point. The DS version is fine, though.

Wow, thanks! I have this weird relationship with Harvest Moon where I hate the game but I keep buying it. With this information I can keep from buying this version, at least.

@EndynOmni Awesome! Harvest Moon is an excellent series... though my heyday was more in the whole SNES/N64 era. I keep buying the games and playing em though. But I was definitely not psyched about having paid $40 for the 3DS version after finding that out. I felt as burned as when I got the first DS HM with all the glitches.:(

And Gamestop still manages to be more expensive than Amazon.

It's been $40 at Best Buy for the past 3 days and will be till Saturday.

An even better deal is that new Xbox buyers will be able to get 12 months for $20, since Best Buy takes an additional $20 off the subscription for Xbox purchases.

I was about to make a comment but then I saw your screen name: Wizards of Waverly. I volunteer with a resource (slow kids if you want to be politically correct) at the local elementary school so I'm farmiliar with just how ridiculously stupid, mind numbingly painful that show is. It may not be your fault, I think the majority of Disney/Nick "live action" shows are aimed squarely at dumbing down children enough to ensure we have the next generation of frycooks/garbagemen ready to go.

So yeah, the first key to admitting you have a problem is admitting you need help. We'll have you up and conquoring Portal/Pushmo/Picross puzzles eventually....

I was just there yesterday buying a game tower and picked up Left 4 Dead for $10...only the only version they had left was an unopened GOTY edition so they had to give me that lol (still $10). Same as when I went there last week and bought Fable 2 for $5...and the only version they had left was the Limited Collector's Edition, with the white box and everything. I kind of lucked out those last couple times, even if those are old games.

@Churrotastic That's awesome. I always wanted the collecter's edition of Fable 2. Although for Left for Dead... since LFD2 is already out, there might not be too many people playing that game online right now. But if there is, it's a great game!

During black Friday the 3 month cards were 7.99 on best buy and amazon. That's basicly $32 a year

Amazon has had Xbox live discounted to 40 for months now. And you dont have to wait for a card to be mailed to you, you can see the code after you buy.

LIVE subs were 36 bucks yesterday at Buy.com

You're better off just renting MW3 from Redbox if you're still on the fence at this point.

Actually, if you think about it, an attack on Microsoft would be a lot more dangerous than an attack on Sony. For PS3, your card info is an optional thing that only happens when you buy something. For Xbox 360, card info could be taken just for using the online service. I'd say more users on Xbox have their card information at stake than users on PS3.

Yes, I know, but what I'm saying is more people on Xbox have used the online than users on PS3 have bought anything, and most likely Microsoft has more access to card info than Sony. Plus, a lot of good deals are only through using a credit card (like the recent $1 for a month of Xbox Live deal).

I'm thinking about Cartoon Network Punchtime Explosion XL for $20. I don't really know why, I just kind of want it. And I'm worried it will be hard to find in the future...

Honestly, you'd have to be an idiot anyways to pay $60 at Gamestop for Live when there are so many cheaper options. Bringing it down to $40 helps, but still can get cheaper at other places, and consider the fact that Gamestop sucks.

Target and gamestop have been going at it with pretty much the same deals. Previously they both had gears off to 40 and then stopped. Then that went back to 50 along with mw3. I'm not sure about live though. Sucks cause I want to get a new console like the limited editions one and when ever I think of get either there is a deal for Gears of mw3.

I might go for this deal just cause I have a 45$ gift card.

Speaking of GameStop, why do none of them have GTA: Chinatown Wars for Ds? I have tried everywhere I can think of that would sell videogames and no one, especially GameStop, have it!

You'll most likely have to head to the internet for this one. I haven't seen a copy of Chinatown Wars for DS in ages. Occasionally I see the PSP version in bargain bins here and there, but obviously that's no help to you.

bin for $20 like two years ago.

Honestly you aren't missing that much anyway. The story ends on a rather predictable twist. The game itself is, well it's not bad, you certainly could do far worse, but it's really not that good either. Not sure why the game was so hyped to be honest, I was dissapointed in it considering how it got over a 9.0 on IGN and had a really high score on Metacritic. If it hadn't been an M rated game on DS, and hadn't been set in the GTA "universe", I doubt it would have been praised nearly as much.

Xbox Live 12 month is 39.99 on Amazon

Well the only reason I want the game is because my 3Ds is begging for something I can actually play on it. I already have all of the 5 games that interest me for it, and until Resident Evil comes out I fear my 3Ds is being very neglected.

I figured this game would be perfect to get me through till Feb 7. I was looking for a used copy, and I knew its old which is why I'm surprised I can't find one

Joystiq you don't post any of the other sales I send you but you post this? SERIOUSLY WTF!? Gamestop is ONLY doing this to remain halfway competetive with other retailers, EVERYTHING I saw listed can be had cheaper for elsewhere.

Was going to say... Once upon a monster , Lord of the rings ... Xbox live cards... They have been on sale at Best Buy this whole week already.

Gamestop is just trying to keep up with best buy / amazon and you guys seem to always focus in on them only. Is there a reason for this?
