Halo 4 beta invites are all fake (so far)

Abe Vigoda's not dead, that bridge in Brooklyn isn't really for sale, and there isn't actually an Easter bunny or a tooth fairy. Oh, and that invite to the Halo 4 beta you just got? It's not real either, says 343 Industries' content editor David Ellis. That doesn't mean there won't be a beta, but there isn't one yet.

Santa Claus, though? Totally real.

@drunkingamebar; You're thinking of Bungie. They had said that Halo 3 would be the last Halo game they'd do, but they were also working on a side project called Halo ODST. It was built using the Halo 3 engine and was not a full blown new game.

But they also ended up developing Halo: Reach, which fits into the story line right before Halo 1. Halo: Reach is officially Bungie's last Halo game.

So, Microsoft created a new developer called 343 Industries to continue making the Halo games. This last summer at E3, they announced that Halo 4 would be the start of a new Halo trilogy. So you can at least expect a Halo 4, 5, and 6.

@drunkingamebar No. Bungie said that Halo 3 would be the last game in that story arc, but never said that Halo 3 would be the last Halo game ever.

Are u serious? U didn't see the e3 trailer? There's another halo coming out. The first three were a story trilogy. There will be another three with a different story. I'm not trying to be rude btw. I'm just making sure ur not being sarcastic.

@x Prime x Pop that Halo Reach disc in and tell me if it doesn't say BUNGIE across your screen. Halo Reach was the last Halo game by Bungie, and long after the launch, when Bungie and Microsoft split, 343 took over the maintenance of Reach. Just sayin.

I find it odd that a fee friends on my list have a status saying "currently playing Halo 4 beta" ....what is that about?

It's a trick. If you set your status to "Busy" it'll show your name. They set their status to Busy then changed their name to "Playing Halo 4 Beta" or something like that.

Phishing attack? Great. Expect another article in a couple of weeks about people claiming that their Xbox account was hacked, again.

i love Halo and everything, but i am a little concerned with Halo 4, especially if it actually comes out this year. personally, i think they should launch it with the new Xbox that might be announced at E3 this year. wouldn't mind if they gave us a Halo 2 10 year anniversary edition next year with XBL support.

@Liquidfingers Halo 2 came out on 11/9/04, so 2014 would be the 10 year anniversary (source: wikipedia). Also, Msoft confirmed at CES this year that the next Xbox won't appear at this E3 (use google to find articles).

I was really hoping that Halo 4 would be a xbox 720 launch title.

I, for one, am glad they're calling it Halo 4 and not "halo evolution" or some other nonsense.
