"The PC version, which does not currently feature Call of Duty Elite, will presumably receive the DLC later as well."

Hopefully they go back to the pre-MW2 times and give us PC gamers the DLC for FREE!!

Why.on earth..did you buy this game for PC?

No Dedicated Servers for ranked play
No Good Modes
No FOV change and a fixed FPS

Terrible PC game.

I'd go one further and ask why did he buy this game, period?

PC specifically, BF3 is worlds better than this, but even in general, I'm not a fan of supporting a company that forces studios who made their most successful franchise close, and then sell you the same rehashed garbage year after year, and THEN basically force you to buy an annual subscription service if you want to consider playing a game at all seriously, all the while alienating the other ten plus million people who bought their game by making them wait before "allowing" them to give Activision money.

So dumb.

Those things NEVER existed on console..so wtf are you getting at?

Let me introduce you to a thing called COD4, the best COD ever made. Why? Because of the things it offered on PC..

How would you feel if COD stopped giving consoles the ability to remap keys? Or they restricted your screen resolution to 720p? Or made it so you couldn't join a friends game unless you were in his party?

You're basically saying, because consoles don't have it, PC shouldn't either, moronic thinking imo.

Consoles never had the ability to use mod tools like PC's do. A PC FPS game that comes out without the ability to change the FOV, dedicated servers or a locked frame rate shouldn't even be considered a PC game. It's terrible.

PS: Mod tools extend the life of a game and make a mediocre game better. It's a fact and Activision doesn't want their COD's lasting more than a year. The more of you that wake up and realize that this is terrible for gaming the quicker us gamers start getting what we pay for.

Wow, 2 maps certainly make that extra $60 spent worth it, specially when they are separate downloads but REQUIRE each other just to work.

I enjoyed MW3 and all, but I am glad I didn't waste money on what was essentially a paid service other games provide for free. Specially when their idea of "premium DLC" is a bunch of single-map packs.

DLC season pass ISN'T all that is included in the Elite service, and as I've said other games have offered these things, free or not for CoD:Elite, for free.

@xFenixKnightx It's all a matter of preference. I thought Battlefield 3 looked fantastic but I found it unplayable because of all the slowdown. It was the first game that made me realize we are definitely overdue for new consoles.

At this point though MW3 is so consistently laggy it's pretty unplayable too. My friends and I have taken to just playing private matches because otherwise it may as well be dice rolls determining firefights.

If there were some way to get a refund on the Elite subscription, I would. I'm just glad I only paid $30 for it.

If your going to buy the map packs it makes sense to get the full version of elite. If your not than just stick with the free version or just don't get it at all. I don't understand why people are upset about paying for elite. Its cheaper than paying for the maps and if you don't want the maps there is a free version if you want to stay track. And it's 50 bucks... Not like your buying a car or something. If you can't afford 50 bucks you should probably have a different hobby than video games.

While you're kind of right, paying $50 for a season pass is a bit steep for what you are offered. Especially if you don't know the quality of and how much you are actually getting. Gears of War 3's season pass was much more respectable at $30.

@Fuglyjerm so that basically makes Elite a season pass for dlc with stat tracking. Not everyone is hardcore into cod to blindly drops 50 bucks for essentially TWO maps and this premium dlc is going to Xbox elite 1st regular Xbox next if you follow the 1st on 360 contract then elite Ps3 then regular Ps3 then eventually PC. It's a cluster**** now if they decide to do $15 for two maps for regular players that's just a slap to the face. Hell they should have done a season pass and online pass from the start instead of creating this mess that nobody benefits from.

Such a stupid argument. It's not about what you can afford, it's about what it's worth. Would you pay fifty bucks for a cup of coffee? No. Don't be an idiot.

Point 1: You do realize that these are the first two map packs, and not the only map packs for the year, for $50 right?

Point 2: It would be bad business to NOT gouge the non-elite players from every angle. You don't think they know how to make money?

Point 3 (extends Point 1): They will release a MINIMUM of four two map packs like these over the year, and the there are spec op and story mode mission packs they'll be doing and whatever else they're going to do.

Point 4: Its not an online pass, you can play online without paying for elite. Not sure why you mentioned it.

Its not $50 for "essentially" two maps. Its $50 for at least 8 maps (see how many came out for BlOps? 12, outside of zombie maps even, so I'm even being conservative at saying 8), and multiple other kinds of additional DLC, competitions, and services over the year. Its "essentially" a great deal, and you're "essentially" wrong.

I understand what you're saying, but I'm not making a direct comparison. Perceived value, mostly. It just irks me when people say, "Who cares! It's only fifty dollars!" when the argument is actually about value, not the amount of money itself.

Also, for further clarification, I actually think their system is a good one; albeit one I don't find personally compelling. A constant content stream will keep the player base engaged and prevent used game sales without the need to overburden the consumer with unlock codes and other unsavory corporate shafting.

Far be it from me to tell another man how to spend his money, but anybody paying for elite on PS3 has got to be one of the biggest tools in existence. Paying a monthly sub to get the content later than everyone else is unforgivable.

The dlc ends up cheaper with elite, if someone plans on buying it & ps3 might not get it before xbox, but elite people on ps3 get it before non-elite people on ps3. Besides, who are you to decide what people should do with their money. $50 is nothing, that's 2 hours worth of work for me and a lot of others as well.

If you pay for it on XBOX you are paying around $8 a month to play it online. That's crazy business.

I have a used copy and play for free on PS3. There's enough maps in the original rotation

Agreed, you got me there. I just avoid 360 and MW/BF3 altogether.

@CTFW529 I highly doubt that, that'd put your salary at over $90,000 a year. And a dollar is a dollar, whether you are a beggar or a millionaire, it's value in the world economy doesn't magically change.

But depending on how interested you are in the content, its value *does* change. Take Assassin's Creed: Revelations, for example. It's not worth $60 to me, but when it hits $30, I'll be all over it. Gears 3, on the other hand, I bought the LE console package for and it was worth every penny (to me.) If someone thinks they will get their money's worth out of their Elite subscription, who are we to tell them that it's "too expensive?"

As for that guy's salary, it's entirely possible that he makes 90K a year. I'm sure more than one person on here does.

You're right, in the same sense that it's ok for a Trekkie to spend $500 on a Deep Space 9 replica uniform (and man did I wanted that uniform, but come on..........)

There are limits. There's being a fan and supporting what you love, then there's being ripped off. I love Star Trek but I'm not about to pay $500 for a silly costume. Someone may love CoD (why is beyond me but w/e), but that doesn't mean this still isn't a ripoff. Stat tracking isn't that expensive, and the map packs shouldn't be either. What else are you left with, a few videos with "pros" that should be free on youtube?

Sounds like a ripoff to me. I wouldn't care except for the fact that buying it just encourages other developers to start this crap themselves.

That's the thing, for me, since I buy all the dlc for almost all of the games I play, the value of elite is worth it to me just for the maps, let alone everything else that I get with it. Will I re-up for another year? Depends on if they keep giving me the dlc for free.

And yes, I make that much. Last year because of overtime and trips overseas, I cleared just over $130,000. I'm a structural engineer. See, staying in school helps.

@civilciv You're correct. My line of thinking, which I stated as "I think the service is great and worth it," is what allows Activision to keep producing quality content that is appropriately priced. When people stop thinking that, they stop purchasing it. When they stop purchasing it - Activision does something different.

Economics really isn't tough people. Activision isn't a traveling salesman selling you some mystery potion. People buying this stuff know what they're getting into.
