I pay about $40 a year for Xbox Live that is filled with ads, they don't host the game servers, and they insist on not letting the devs/publishers give away free content. WTF is wrong with this picture, and how much worse will it get for the next-gen xbox??

I completely agree with you and I don't understand why you were downvoted. I also pay for a gold sub and the points you raised are very reasonable, Microsoft's online business model is greedy and I would hope to see a change for the next gen.

But we won't. (because even frustrated people like yourself and I are ponying up the cash for the service. not to mention the other 40 million subscribers)

lmao, downvoted! How pathetic, douchey fanboys cheering on getting bent over and furiously tapping on Justin Bieber ads. And they will all be downvoting us in 2 years when people are pissed about Xbox Live being $120 a year.

I enjoy the service overall, it just simply has some flaws and I just want to see it changed for the better.
ex. developers shouldn't be forced to charge for content they wish to be free. thats ridiculous.

There is NOTHING that keeps publishers from offering free content. NOTHING. I'm not sure where you are getting this info. EPIC only made that comment years ago because Microsoft published the game.

Submitting your content requires going through certification yes, which costs money, so obviously publishers will want to charge.

That yearly fee is a charge that goes to subsidizing content hosting for publishers. Because quite frankly if consumers don't foot the bill no one will (SEE: PSN for the first 3 years).

Are they bringing the new content to the pc or is it Xbox exclusive?

@(Unverified) It says in the article that they will continue to work on both titles (PC and 360 I presume) in parallel.

I think that means that the new content will come to PC. CD Project Red will not shaft its PC consumers, after all, they owe the PC crowd for making the first Witcher a 1 million+ seller.

Why the lack of ps3 love? Is this published by Microsoft, or did they not plan on releasing it on ps3 from the start?

@doreo These guys are fairly new developers and I'm sure they would love more money from a ps3 version, it. Could be a huge leap for a pc developer to start making content on a playstation, compared to an Xbox which is similar to a pc in some regards.

I've read that the PS3 is relatively difficult to program for, so they probably just went with the Xbox360 because it would be a fairly easy port. Maybe if it does really well on the 360, it could make it's way to the PS3... Though considering how late it is in these consoles' life cycles, it may not be worth it for them to spend the time learning the new hardware when the next game they make might not even be on these systems.

They're a relatively small developer that can only really focus on one platform at a time; if they had the resources to release a port onto both console simultaneously, they would do so.

Because it is very easy to port PC games to the 360.

I'd like to see us PC'ers get some of that new content. I'm sure we will, as CD Projekt seems to love their game... and I love it too. :D

"For Temeria!" is not new content. This mission is already in the PC version if you pick the Roche path. The adrenaline meter is also available in the PC version if you fully upgrade the combat skill tree.

They didn't say it was a new mission for the game as a whole. They were discussing how the newer missions from the PC were on the disc for the 360 and available at the start as opposed to being later add ons.

Epic games could learn from them. They are choosing to delay the game so they can pack more content. Epic had a delay forced on them, finished the content, put it on the disc and then charged for an unlock key. Pretty disgusting business practice by Epic and makes me love companies like CD Projekt RED Supergiant games (they wanted their DLC for Bastion to be free on PC and Xbox, they HAD to charge on xbox).

Your memory is fading. Epic used to give free stuff away all the time to players - levels, game modes, maps, skins, vehicles etc.

They were one of the biggest proponents of free DLC before it was DLC.

So CDprojekt are in a similar position now. Will CDP still do that if they become massively succesful developer with more business partnerships? You can only wait and see.

It will. Seems to me that they are trying to get as much new content on the disc so they don't need to charge for it. We'll definitely see it for PC.

"Adrenaline meter that allows players to stylishly insta-kill multiple enemies at the tap of a button."

This is also in the PC version. If you're going to compare the two I'd recommend playing both of them.

The part where he said, "It's very hard to give players something for free on Xbox 360...," is cringe inducing.

I can't believe that Microsoft won't allow developers to support their games for free without having to get money. Good on the CD Projeckt Red for giving their fans the better deal.

I can.
MS has always been able to provide a gaming experience through other another platform, PC. The entire point of the Xbox was to basically bring it all under their control so they can make money off of everything that goes on, something they can't do with PC, where their influence doesn't extend beyond the OS or DirectX, which aren't really going to be cash cows in comparison.

I bought this on PC and tried it but I lost interest. Was going to try again after I finish Skyrim but now I'll wait for this enhanced edition. I hope they add the streamlined inventory on PC cause I found the inventory really frustrating using a gamepad.
