You do not need Unreal Tournament 3 to play Black Dawn. It's a standalone game. The current multiplayer beta that's out (it's really old too) requires it but I don't recommend playing it unless you want to explore some of the remade maps and weapons. A new multiplayer version (that will also be standalone and not require UT3) will be coming out soon as well.

Thanks for the giving the game some attention guys! =)

You know... I loved Westwood... they are part of my childhood because of CnC series. My heart needs some CnC love like this and had no idea it existed. Will definitely check this out.

I was one of the few who was part of the Rengade Community for several years after its release. I thought the game was great fun and could never understand why it didn't take off. It's amazing there are still people out there dedicated to this game. So much so they invested in a project such as this. I haven't loaded up the game for around 7 years I guess.

I'm definitely checking this out. Thanks for the info Joystiq!

@HaVoK308

It was a staple of our LAN parties for several years after it came out. Lots of good times in that game, still one of the best at what it did.

I'm confused... Is that an FPS version of C&C, or do you take control of units you build or something?

How did I not know about this!?!

@liquidsoap89 Sort of. The game is nearly a decade old now (I think next month is 10 years), but basically you're put on a pre made map and you destroy the opposing teams buildings. Each building has a specific purpose, so you're team has to develop strategies and really rely on teamwork in order to defeat the opposing team. With a good team, the game can be a whole lot of fun, but if you try it, it's unlike anything you've ever played. It has some minor similarities to Battlefield, but they are still very different.

Renegade was a sweet game from 2001. I remember the campaign actually being somewhat difficult and the weapons were cool.

@TheRedComet 2002*

And yeah, I agree. Even though i never beat the Single Player from the original game (who would, it was pretty bad), the multiplayer still holds up to this game. There was nothing like it.
