Paul McCartney, legendary recording artist of the band Wings, is apparently working on music for a video game -- and, no, it doesn't appear to be Beatles Rock Band 2. In an interview with Germany's Die Zeit, McCartney was asked if he'd consider writing music for a video game. He responded that he's already working on it.
McCartney said he finds the video game market fascinating and was excited by the opportunity to work on a game project. He noted that growing up, he only had radio and records, but now music is everywhere. He feels that by writing music for a game that it may be the first time his music will be heard by the next generation.
There's also the business of music. McCartney said, "A new computer game is selling these days so much better than a new CD. And you reach a different audience." Might we suggest Paul of Duty, a music shooter. It worked out well for Aerosmith.

Do an open world Sgt. Pepper adventure game. Luckily since he dumped Heather Mills he is allowed to smoke herb again. I can just see him in his mansion playing Skyrim with a bong by his side. "This is fab."

Pffttt... the most logical way to introduce Paul McCartney would've been "legendary recording artist of the band ....The Smokin' Mojo Filters"

''Computer game''?
Well, that narrows it down quite a lot.

In my eyes, Paul McCartney was always more of a composer and lyricist than a rock star. "Hey Jude," "Magical Mystery Tour," "You Never Give Me Your Money," "Let It Be," "Blackbird," "Eleanor Rigby," and "English Tea" are musical masterworks that also happen to have good lyrics.

Of the band wings? Ok, now I think I've heard of this McCartney guy. Had a couple hits if I remember, never really amounted to much...

Paul McCartney’s take on videogame music should be interesting. I’m excited for find out more about his involvement with the project, such as if he’ll be composing the actual score that plays during gameplay, or if it’s something more simple, such as creating a single theme song for the game.
His sentiment on video games serving as a sort of “gateway” to rest of his music is also provocative. While I’m sure The Beatles, as well as his solo work, will continue to remain within the pop culture nexus, video games are a great way to expose new art in other mediums to people who otherwise would not look for them.
I remember discovering some of my favorite electronic artists, such as Underworld, Leftfield and the Chemical Brothers through the legendary 1995 wipE'out" The Music soundtrack. I also started listening to Amon Tobin after hearing his amazing work with Splinter Cell 3: Chaos Theory.
Effectively, these games made me fall in love with the artist I continue to obsess over to this very day. There is a definite connection between my purchase of one of those games or soundtracks, and my purchase of a festival ticket to see one of these bands many years later.

I'm fine with that, but I think they dropped the ball on not doing Beatles Rock Band 2 ... unless they are waiting for the next gen consoles. At least give us the DLC for the remaining albums.
