EA is bringing back real-world veterans for Medal of Honor: Warfighter, its follow-up to 2010's Medal of Honor reboot, USA Today reports. Rather than use their knowledge to recreate the events of any single campaign -- such as killing Osama Bin Laden -- they're helping shape a game focused on a new threat called PETN.
It's a recent tool of terrorism; a deadly explosive agent called pentaerythritol tetranitrate. "It's a very real world threat that the guys are faced with keeping off our shores and out of our shopping malls and train stops," says Greg Goodrich, who returns as producer at Danger Close.
Warfighter will focus mostly on Preacher and Mother, two SEALs seen in the previous game. The Tier One operators who helped script the campaign are meant to humanize the soldiers, providing us a glimpse of their home lives and the repercussions of their lifestyles.
"It is meant to be entertaining, and we hope people really enjoy that, but in the process there's a lot of misconceptions that will be stripped and there's a lot of clichés that will be destroyed," said Nate, one of the mysterious Tier One operators and co-writers of Medal of Honor: Warfighter. "And there's a lot of humor that will be injected. But at the end of it you hope people get a sense of 'Wow this is not who I thought these guys were.' They are very likable, very approachable, very family-oriented guys."

I think the last Medal of Honor was underrated. Looking forward to this one.

@FlashJS I agree. The campaign was short, but one of the more memorable FPS campaigns I've played in a while.

Anyone else kind of hope that it's in Iraq this time?
They did Afghanistan justice with a bit more of a realistic and grounded story, I'm hoping they can do the same for the stuff in Baghdad.
Maybe even take a couple hints from films like Hurt Locker and Green Zone.

Enjoyed the campaign from the last 1 but wish it was longer.
Hopefully, this 1 will be.
And the multiplayer heavily improved.

I can only hope these elite soldiers have learned how to climb up a ledge without help.

@iceveiled Yes, but in this game when every AI could do it on their own and you couldn't, that seems to be a problem.

I honestly liked the Medal of Honor, it blended the Battlefield and CoD gameplay styles well, except for the awful spawn system.

EA still trying so hard at having that CoD killer and failing each year:
2010: Medal of Honor 10' was pegged as their Black Ops killer and failed
2011: Battlefied 3 was billed as MW3 killer and was a disappointment
2012: MoH Warfighter will try to be EA's answer to Black Ops 2
See the pattern? EA bouncing between MoH and Battlefied annually to try to combat the CoD behemoth. So for 2013, expect Battlefield 4 to try to counter MW4.

So I'm wrong when I think that BF3 is the best shooter I've played since TF2?
And all that time I've spent in it (more than any other shooter since... TF2...) was actually just a complete waste?

@bshido Never said BF3 was a failure, but a disappointment to EA in the sense that it's sales were a fraction of MW3's, despite constant pre-release hype from EA claiming that it would surpass MW3 (in sales) . Got it?
Couldn't care less about CoD, just stating the facts.

@nerdquest BF3 has disappointed? Really, because I still play it regularly whereas MW3's "same game, different year" BS edition is collecting dust on my shelf.
Danger close obviously know they can't compete with any CoD game - they are focused on making a unique shooter about elite special forces operators.
It's fine, we get you're just another mindless CoD sheeple, but don't come in here spouting things that aren't true.

I agree the most memorable moments were the ambush in the mountains and the ending for once I was worried in a ambush I was thinking are we going to make it? F*ck almost out of ammo! what no more ammo! Then the choppers come save us (not spoiling the rest)

I hope they put more emphasis on the characters. The previous campaign started to do it, but then it ended.
Posted: Feb 28th 2012 6:44PM TheDarkWayne said
I'm glad to hear that. There was something about them, all the guys in particular, that just really made them seem more real than most other characters. That probably has to do with them bring based on real guys, but you know what i mean

Blurring the line between entertainment and war propaganda, one game at a time.
Anyone catch that movie with "real Navy Seals" as the cast...
... yea.

@kosmik They were real navy seals. That's why the acting was so bad

Yeah, it definitely is a pretty strange tactic, and I also think you're right. We'd probably be appalled and in a huge uproar if Russia did something like this.

do you people want to know why COD is so popular? its not the killstreaks/perks/weapons/xp/customization. its the min map. the min map is clear and very easy to read so people can pick up the game and not feel lost in MP. this is want EAs FPS have not figured out yet. MOH mim map is so bad that its not worth looking when playing TDM. if EA wants to have great sales it has to be noob friendly. i know the hardcore MOH/BF fans dont want to hear this but its true

For the people who didn't catch it in the media...Act of Valor was made to be a recruitment video. They ended up releasing it in theaters because of sheer interest from the public. Quit whining about propaganda, you have no idea of the garbage that gets fed to public in mideast and asian countries.

Clearest indication you live in a country saturated with propaganda, is when you point out the fact, someone comes along and tells you to "be quiet" or "stop whining", because "other countries are bad".
We're not the baddest bad guys, it's okay.
