In its <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2009/11/22/left-4-dead-2-gets-patched-on-pc/">ongoing</a> <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2009/12/01/l4d2-steam-update-fixes-invincible-burning-witch/">support</a> of <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/tag/left-4-dead-2"><em>Left 4 Dead 2</em></a> on the PC, Valve has issued <a href="http://store.steampowered.com/news/3217/">another patch</a> for the game, fixing a number of problems including physics crashes and hit boxes on the Charger, Jockey and Spitter. Some of the exploits PC gamers have stumbled upon have also been eradicated, including incapped survivors improving their weapon accuracy by holding the crouch button -- though we wouldn't call that an exploit so much as a natural evolution in the face of the zombie threat. Good, old-fashioned human ingenuity is what will win us this war, people!<br />
<br />
You can head past the break for the full patch notes. An update for the Xbox 360 will be available "later this month."<p><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2009/12/10/left-4-dead-2-patch-on-pc-now-xbox-360-later-this-month/" rel="bookmark">Continue reading <em>Left 4 Dead 2 patch on PC now, Xbox 360 'later this month'</em></a></p><p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.blogsmithmedia.com/http://www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2009/12/10/left-4-dead-2-patch-on-pc-now-xbox-360-later-this-month/">Left 4 Dead 2 patch on PC now, Xbox 360 'later this month'</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Thu, 10 Dec 2009 14:00:00 EST. You know what? Driving around is <em>boring</em>. Luckily, some Germans are taking steps to amp up the experience by incorporating <em><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/tag/doom">Doom</a> </em>graphics into billboard ads, effectively upping their cool factor exponentially. Check out <a href="http://www.flickr.com/photos/31192713@N03/sets/72157622828179733/">this Flickr set</a> and tell us these billboards are anything but <em>completely awesome</em>. We dare you!<br />
<br />
Hopefully, this is the beginning of a trend that will cross the oceans of the world and spread throughout every major city, causing us to actually <em>care</em> about these outdoor advertising eyesores. In the spirit of international sharing, we've got a couple ideas of our own you can check out past the break.<br />

From March 16, 2012 until September 9, 2012, the US's popular Smithsonian museum will be showcasing something patrons aren't used to seeing in such an environment: video games. Sure, we've seen <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2008/08/15/joystiq-goes-to-i-am-8-bit/">video game art exhibitions</a> before, but the Smithsonian exhibit will attempt to be "the first to examine comprehensively the evolution of video games themselves as an artistic medium." <br />
<br />
The exhibit, <a href="http://www.americanart.si.edu/exhibitions/archive/2012/games/"><em>The Art of Video Games</em></a>, will feature game footage, video interviews with artists and game developers, a history of game consoles and even a few consoles for visitors to play. The museum will also welcome suggestions from attendees and tap <a href="http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Chris_Melissinos">Chris Melissinos</a> as guest curator for the exhibit. Our first suggestion for the Smithsonian: hit up Krix for some of <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2009/02/03/how-to-make-a-portal-gun-replica-hint-its-not-easy/">his</a> <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2009/11/23/bioshock-cosplay-recreates-rapture-at-the-aquarium/">amazing</a> <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2009/02/26/joystiq-interview-harrison-krix-video-game-replica-designer/">props</a>.<br />

</em></div>
<em><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/tag/no-more-heroes">No More Heroes</a>'</em> girl-crazy otaku protagonist, Travis Touchdown, must have found <a href="http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=G__z0pkwaBA">the Cosmic Key</a>, because he's crossed over into the world of Valve games -- specifically <em>Left 4 Dead </em>and <em>Team Fortress 2</em>. <br />
<br />
<a href="http://www.l4dmods.com/index.php?option=com_joomloads&amp;view=package&amp;Itemid=2&amp;packageId=885">The <em>L4D</em> mod</a> uses Travis to meet the game's quota for one leather-clad survivor, putting him, in his usual red jacket and <i>Pure White Lover Bizarre Jelly</i> T-shirt (but no beam katana), in the place of ultra-pessimist Francis. While an <em>L4D2</em> mod could address the lack of stabbing and cutting, it would seem mod creator ash_link <a href="http://dethklan.com/2009/10/left-4-dead-mod-travis-touchdown-released/">isn't a fan</a> of Valve's sequel, so, yeah ... that's probably not happening.<br />
<br />
The <a href="http://mechaware.net/tf2/travis/"><em>Team Fortress 2</em> mod</a> does about the same thing, replacing that game's Scout with a pint-sized, katana-wielding Touchdown. Head past the break to see for yourself. Seriously, <em>go watch the video now</em>.<br />

If amazingly fast and explosive men have been <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2009/12/03/xbox-live-moderators-getting-serious-about-modern-warfare-2s-ja/">the bane of your existence</a> in <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/tag/modern-warfare-2/"><em>Modern Warfare 2</em></a> as of late, then know that Activision's go-to guy, <a href="http://twitter.com/fourzerotwo">Robert "fourzerotwo" Bowling</a>, has got the hot scoops on a patch in the works to address the despised Javelin glitch. Version 1.06 of the game will not only do away with that awful bit of frustration, but will also address two other notable exploits in the multiplayer experience:<br />
<ul>
    <li>Fixes the Javelin glitch (thank the Flying Spaghetti Monster!)</li>
    <li>Fixes unlimited care packages glitch</li>
    <li>Fixes areas where players could exploit geography (e.g. hide inside rocks in Afghan)</li>
</ul>
Bowling says the patch is currently <a href="http://twitter.com/fourzerotwo/status/6359135243">in the hands of Microsoft</a> for certification on Xbox 360 and presumably in Sony's for PS3 certification. We've contacted Bowling for more info and will update the post when we hear back.<br />

There's some classic platforming to be had in both <em>Rayman </em>and <em>Shinobi</em> in this week's Nintendo downloads, and even a way to deal with Jack's overabundance of stress in <em>Stop Stress: A Day of Fury</em>. There's over ten titles in all, so cruise past the break for the full list.<p><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2009/12/07/nintendoware-weekly-rayman-stop-stress-shinobi-street-fighte/" rel="bookmark">Continue reading <em>NintendoWare Weekly: Rayman, Stop Stress, Shinobi, Street Fighter Alpha 2</em></a></p><p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.blogsmithmedia.com/http://www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2009/12/07/nintendoware-weekly-rayman-stop-stress-shinobi-street-fighte/">NintendoWare Weekly: Rayman, Stop Stress, Shinobi, Street Fighter Alpha 2</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Mon, 07 Dec 2009 10:30:00 EST. Now that <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/tag/assassins-creed-2"><em>Assassin's Creed II</em></a> has been out amongst the crowds, slinking its way into <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2009/11/24/ubisoft-assassins-creed-ii-sold-1-6-million-in-first-week/">millions</a> of consoles, gamers are stumbling upon some of its secrets. While you may be stuck tracking down those last few feathers, others are discovering <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2009/11/25/so-theres-this-squid-in-assassins-creed-2/">ancient beasts</a> and, according to <a href="http://www.computerandvideogames.com/article.php?id=228911">CVG</a>, game-breaking glitches.<br />
<br />
Some gamers apparently found themselves stuck controlling Desmond in the Hideout after DNA Sequence 11, a direct result of shutting off their system after the game autosaved. When they later booted the game back up, they were unable to return to the Animus and continue Ezio's 15th century adventure. CVG didn't comment on whether this was affecting Xbox 360 or PS3 gamers, or both.<br />
<br />
We've contacted Ubisoft to see if this is the first it's heard of the issue and also urge you to <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/contact/tips/" assassin="" s="" creed="" glitch="" killed="" my="">contact us</a> if you've encountered it.<br />
<strong><br />
Update:</strong> Ubisoft has acknowledged the "SQ11" glitch. Posting on the company's message boards, community developer "Atmon" <a href="http://forums.ubi.com/eve/forums/a/tpc/f/4721051016/m/4261018808?r=4261018808#4261018808">confirmed</a> that Ubisoft is aware of the issue and is "glad to say that it will be solved through our upcoming patch," but did not suggest a release date for said patch. In a separate thread, Atmon continued to <a href="http://forums.ubi.com/eve/forums/a/tpc/f/5251069024/m/6041042018?r=4561030118#4561030118">dance around</a> the issue of a release date for the patch, explaining that upcoming server maintenance is unrelated to fixing the glitch.<p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.blogsmithmedia.com/http://www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2009/12/04/rumor-assassins-creed-2-glitch-breaks-the-game/">Assassin's Creed 2 glitch breaks the game [update]</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Fri, 04 Dec 2009 19:05:00 EST. It's all in Japanese, but it speaks the universal languages of <em>crazy bosses</em> and <em>near-naked-babe</em> quite well. <br />
<br />
Aside from that, it also shows how much better the game looks compared to its Wii counterpart -- all of those Ps really make a difference. Be sure to check out the last few seconds of the trailer, which show us the Japanese version of the game just may not be <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2009/11/20/xbox-360-release-of-no-more-heroes-may-be-censored-in-japan/">censored</a> after all. When Square Enix <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2009/08/28/square-enix-teases-modern-warfare-2-in-japan/">enlisted to localize</a> <em>Modern Warfare 2</em> for Japan, the publisher went above and beyond the <em>call of duty</em>. The game would be issued a complete Japanese-dialog makeover -- whereas the first <em>Modern Warfare</em> localization was simply subtitled -- in response to a "<span>strong desire from Activision to widen the entrance for beginning FPS players," as Square Enix told </span><a href="http://www.famitsu.com/game/news/1230281_1124.html">Famitsu</a>. However, some gamers are reporting that the extra effort has fallen short, citing numerous translation errors in the localized game. [Insert your Bill Murray joke here.]<br />
<br />
Additionally, Japanese site <a href="http://jin115.com/archives/51604259.html">My Game Flash</a> has rounded up other complaints about the localization, most notably an alteration to the <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2009/10/28/new-modern-warfare-airport-murder-simulator-2-video-game-glorif/">sensationalized</a> "No Russian" mission. Rather than delete the mission (as in the <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2009/11/17/activision-pulled-mw2-no-russian-scene-in-russia-on-advice-of/">censored</a> Russian version), Square Enix had the Japanese version of the mission adjusted to restrict the player from participating in a terrorist assault on an airport. If the player does engage civilian targets, it's <em>game over</em>. <span><br />
</span><br />
Square Enix has posted an update on the <em>Modern Warfare 2</em> <a href="http://www.modernwarfare2.jp/">Japanese site</a> describing the full Japanese language and subtitle tracks and warning of the "No Russian" edits, but has not announced plans to patch the translation errors or change the limitations on the censored mission. The publisher has cited technical limitations, which prevent selectable English and Japanese language tracks. If you consider the daily crossword puzzle a suitable mental exercise routine, then, buddy, you've got it all wrong. That's child's play for baby brains and yours needs a bit more stimulation than that. Thankfully, <a href="http://www.gog.com/en/news/">GoG.com</a> is here to put a few wrinkles in all the right spots, as it's announced Cyan Worlds' beloved <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/tag/myst"><em>Myst</em></a> series is coming to its library of DRM-free titles.<br /><br />You can actually check out <a href="http://www.gog.com/en/gamecard/myst_masterpiece_edition"><em>Myst: Masterpiece Edition</em></a> right now for $5.99, but you'll have to wait a bit for <em>Riven: The Sequel to Myst </em>and <em>The Manhole: Masterpiece Edition</em> -- the latter of which is admittedly not part of <em>Myst</em> canon, but comes from the <em>Myst</em> creators and should interest fans nonetheless. Both will also be priced at $5.99 and can be yours "soon."<p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.blogsmithmedia.com/http://www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2009/12/04/gog-com-gets-cyan-worlds-myst-games/">GOG.com gets Cyan Worlds' Myst games</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Fri, 04 Dec 2009 06:30:00 EST. The city of Montreal can add another gaming studio to its ranks, as <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/tag/thq">THQ</a> has announced plans for its biggest studio yet: THQ Montreal. The new development house will focus on "creating core games for THQ" and assisting with titles developed by the company's other studios worldwide. THQ Montreal is expected to create some 400 new jobs in the Quebec province, with THQ's Paradigm Entertainment head, Dave Gatchel, overseeing operations when the studio opens in mid-2010.<br /> <br /> THQ VP Steve DeCosta says it's not just the tax breaks that make Montreal such an appealing place to set up shop, but also the talent pool in the region -- sentiments <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2009/11/20/talent-not-just-tax-breaks-drawing-devs-to-canada/">shared</a> by neighboring Ontario minister Sandra Pupatello.<p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.blogsmithmedia.com/http://www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2009/12/03/thq-to-open-new-montreal-studio/">THQ to open new Montreal studio</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Thu, 03 Dec 2009 21:15:00 EST. We're talking about the new <a href="http://investor.ea.com/releasedetail.cfm?ReleaseID=428055">EA Sports DebitSmart Visa</a> prepaid card. It works like a lot of other prepaid debit cards: you give EA money, it puts that money on the card. However, EA is trying to sweeten the deal (paying money to use money is a deal?) through the inclusion of EA Sports Reward Points, fractions of payments made with the card that are converted to points which consumers can then use toward EA Sports purchases via <a href="http://cts.businesswire.com/ct/CT?id=smartlink&amp;url=http%3A%2F%2Fwww.EASPORTSrewards.com&amp;esheet=6113064&amp;lan=en_US&amp;anchor=www.EASPORTSrewards.com&amp;index=1&amp;md5=7102c8588977ef719cc683341be8d002">EA's site</a>. <br /><br />EA marketing VP Todd Sitrin calls the program "a perfect marriage of encouraging responsible spending while providing a unique reward program." History teaches us <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2009/03/06/capcom-visa-cards-full-of-hidden-charges-just-like-guile/">otherwise</a>, so if you'll excuse us, we'll just be sitting in the corner, waiting for the other shoe to drop.<p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.blogsmithmedia.com/http://www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2009/12/03/its-in-the-debt-introducing-the-ea-sports-prepaid-debit-card/">It's in the debt: Introducing the EA Sports prepaid debit card</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Thu, 03 Dec 2009 20:15:00 EST. In a new financial earnings and projection <a href="http://ir.take2games.com/releasedetail.cfm?ReleaseID=428172">report</a>, Take-Two has dished out news of <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/tag/max-payne-3"><em>Max Payne 3's</em></a> release. The game's been pushed back -- we like to imagine in incredibly slow and dramatic fashion -- to the company's fiscal Q4 2010. In <em>real</em> time, that translates to a three-month period spanning August-October, 2010. The game was previously pegged for an unlikely Winter 2009 release. <br /> <br /> Based on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2009/06/23/first-max-payne-3-screens-look-strangely-familiar/">what we've seen</a> of <em>Max Payne 3</em> so far, we'd say that bumping back its release is a good move. Max is in serious need of some <a href="http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=VGOO8ZhWFR4">Jazzercise</a> and a decent dry cleaner, so this extra time will hopefully get him into better shape to handle the countless waves of bad guys he'll be indiscriminately shooting in the face.<p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.blogsmithmedia.com/http://www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2009/12/03/max-payne-3-delayed-to-late-2010/">Max Payne 3 delayed until late 2010</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Thu, 03 Dec 2009 17:13:00 EST. It seems <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2009/12/02/new-medal-of-honor-promises-most-authentic-modern-war-experienc/">the cover star</a> for EA reboot <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/tag/medal-of-honor"><em>Medal of Honor</em></a> bears quite a resemblance to a real-life military man -- and not the fictional lumberjack uncle we like to think resides in every Canadian family. <em>Life</em> did a feature on the armed forces in Afghanistan back in 2002, and one of the individuals (codenamed "Cowboy") <a href="http://www.life.com/image/1373495">highlighted</a> in <a href="http://www.life.com/image/1373470">several</a> <a href="http://www.life.com/image/1373472">photos</a> (via <a href="http://gamesblog.ugo.com/games/meet-the-real-life-hero-behind-medal-of-honor-in-afghanistan">UGO</a>) seems to match the one highlighted on the FPS cover.<br />
<br />
EA did mention working closely with "Tier 1 Operators from the US Special Operations Community," so it seems possible that the main character could be inspired by (if not actually based on) Mr. Cowboy. We've contacted EA to get some intel on this. We'll let you know, if we haven't been taken out for yesterday's ZZ Top joke.<p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.blogsmithmedia.com/http://www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2009/12/03/mock-the-medal-of-honor-box-art-and-this-man-may-kill-you/">Mock the Medal of Honor box art and this man may kill you</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Thu, 03 Dec 2009 17:00:00 EST. You know, the United Kingdom isn't a great place to go if you enjoy drinking. The folks there, they just aren't big drinkers. It's difficult for them to find reasons to partake in the time-traveling powers of alcohol. Enter: <a href="http://entertainment.timesonline.co.uk/tol/arts_and_entertainment/visual_arts/article6936149.ece">Allotment</a>, a new bar in the Glasgow area that offers thirsty patrons live performance art, music and a bit of the in-between.<br /><br />Right about now, you're probably wondering what this has to do with games. Well, this Saturday, the bar will be transformed into a living dedication to retro gaming, with a central theme of "gaming and morality." There'll be roulette and karaoke, some arcade gaming. But, more importantly, coordinators will envision a real-life <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/tag/pong"><em>Pong</em></a> tribute in the space, allowing attendees to participate at any time in the recreation by simply walking up and changing it. <br /><br />If you're looking for more information on Allotment, or tickets to attend, then head on over to the <a href="http://www.nationaltheatrescotland.com/content/default.asp?page=home_Allotment">National Theatre of Scotland</a>. If after reading this, you're in the mood to watch that awesome video of Japanese Matrix ping-pong, well ... you <a href="http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-dcmDscwEcI">aren't the only one</a>.<br /><br />[Via <a href="http://www.gamepolitics.com/2009/12/01/unlikely-inspiration-behind-glasgow-interactive-art-bar">GamePolitics</a>]<p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.blogsmithmedia.com/http://www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2009/12/03/allotment-bar-in-glasgow-pays-homage-to-pong/">Allotment bar in Glasgow pays homage to Pong</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Thu, 03 Dec 2009 04:00:00 EST. We would never call you out on your love for whatever crappy thing it is that you love but, guys, <em>you're using Google wrong</em>. Its recent <a href="http://www.google.com/intl/en_us/press/zeitgeist2009/entertaining.html">Zeitgeist 2009 report</a> shows what the most popular gaming term searches of this year have been and the results are pretty surprising.<br /> <br /> At the top spot is <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/tag/ghostbusters"><em>Ghostbusters</em></a>, which is fine by us -- it was a pretty big deal when it was announced and it sold a lot of copies, so naturally folks were interested. But, as we delve deeper into the top 10, the search terms become a bit more interesting. The next three terms -- "ufc" "saw" and "bakugan" -- really threw us for a loop. <em>Saw</em>? Really? <em>Bakugan</em>? What is that, a gun that uses <a href="http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Baku_%28spirit%29">evil Japanese spirits</a> for ammo? Actually, that sounds pretty cool.<br /> <br /> Further into the list, we see that <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/tag/batman-arkham-asylum"><em>Batman: Arkham Asylum</em></a> managed to put a batarang in the fifth spot, much lower than we'd like, but we can live with that -- however, coming in at the sixth spot is <em>Twilight</em>. Guys! Vampires. Do. Not. Sparkle. Seventh was <em>FIFA 2010</em>, followed by <em>Modern Warfare</em> in eighth. The ninth spot belonged to <em>Transformers 2</em>, which we must admit has one of <a href="http://www.spike.com/event/vga2009/page/vote/category/34768">this year's best performances by a human male</a>, so that seems okay. Finally, <em>Resident Evil 5</em> rounded out the list in last place.<p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.blogsmithmedia.com/http://www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2009/12/02/google-zeitgeist-2009-shows-years-top-game-searches/">Google Zeitgeist 2009 shows year's top game searches</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Wed, 02 Dec 2009 23:59:00 EST. <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/tag/thq">THQ</a> is no stranger to producing accessible, fun-for-the-whole-family entertainment and has just inked a deal to acquire <a href="http://investor.thq.com/phoenix.zhtml?c=96376&amp;p=irol-newsArticle&amp;ID=1360746&amp;highlight=">exclusive rights</a> to Dreamworks game tie-ins worldwide. This agreement will see THQ produce three titles initially:<em> Kung-Fu Panda 2: The Kaboom of Doom</em>; a game based on upcoming <em>Shrek</em> spin-off, <em>Puss in Boots</em>; and a title based on the animated TV series, <em>The Penguins of Madagascar</em>. That last one sounds a lot more interesting than a game based on Morgan Freeman's penguins, though we must admit, a game based on the French version of that would be <a href="http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=fZ_mlwnAmr0"><em>fantastique</em></a>.<br /><br />But, we digress. THQ also gains rights for "<span class="ccbnTxt"><location>Xbox Live Arcade</location>, PlayStation Network and Nintendo Wii Virtual Console" -- we guess THQ has never heard of WiiWare?</span> The first title to release as a part of this deal, <em>The Penguins of Madagascar</em>, will grace store shelves starting next year, while the other games will release alongside their theatrical counterparts in 2011.<p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.blogsmithmedia.com/http://www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2009/12/02/thq-gains-exclusive-rights-to-dreamworks-game-tie-ins/">THQ gains exclusive rights to Dreamworks game tie-ins</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Wed, 02 Dec 2009 22:00:00 EST. Ten-hut, soldiers! During wartime, the government is granted special powers and as such the Army is going to need to commandeer your personal computers. Before we send our best and brightest out into battle, we'll need to <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2009/11/26/battlefield-bad-company-2-pc-beta-starts-early-2010/">train them</a> in advanced maneuvers via upcoming PC games <em><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/tag/battlefield-1943">Battlefield 1943</a> </em>and <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/tag/battlefield-bad-company-2/"><em>Battlefield: Bad Company 2</em></a>.<br /><br />Before you start packing up your 'puters, know the government has issued its guidelines for computer operations (via <a href="http://www.shacknews.com/onearticle.x/61443">Shacknews</a>). Report past the break to see if your computer meets these stringent requirements.<p><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2009/12/02/battlefield-1943-bad-company-2-system-specs-revealed/" rel="bookmark">Continue reading <em>Battlefield 1943, Bad Company 2 system specs revealed</em></a></p><p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.blogsmithmedia.com/http://www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2009/12/02/battlefield-1943-bad-company-2-system-specs-revealed/">Battlefield 1943, Bad Company 2 system specs revealed</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Wed, 02 Dec 2009 20:00:00 EST. <br /> What do you do once you've directed actors for a game that's piled up millions faster than <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2009/11/18/activision-modern-warfare-2-earned-550-million-in-first-five-days/">pretty much everything</a>? Well, if you follow the Keith Arem School of Thought, you move on to directing in film. <a href="http://www.variety.com/article/VR1118012013.html?categoryid=1079&amp;cs=1">Variety</a> reports that Arem's just signed on to direct upcoming action-thriller <em>Frost Road</em> -- the story of a man who awakens from a car crash to find the world is infected with a deadly disease to which he is inexplicably immune.<br /> <br /> Moving on to movie making is not much of a stretch for Arem, who was the talent director responsible for rounding up actors and coordinating their efforts in <em>Modern Warfare 2</em>. He also penned the script for <em>Frost Road</em>, so we're totally expecting the protagonist to have <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/photos/call-of-duty-4-modern-combat/274395/full/">one bitchin' mustache</a>.<p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.blogsmithmedia.com/http://www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2009/12/02/modern-warfare-2-talent-director-keith-arem-moves-to-film/">Modern Warfare 2 talent director Keith Arem moves to film</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Wed, 02 Dec 2009 19:00:00 EST. Digital distribution service Direct2Drive is celebrating the 24 days leading up to Christmas by discounting <a href="http://www.direct2drive.com/holiday/">a select PC title</a> each day from now until December 25. As the math whizzes have no doubt already divined, that's 24 discounted games! Today's game is DICE's parkour-em-up, <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/tag/mirrors-edge"><em>Mirror's Edge</em></a>. At the ridiculously low asking price of $4.95, it'd be a crime for PC gamers to disregard this most excellent (and very much deserving of a sequel, EA!) game from 2008. <br />
<br />
We can <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2009/01/01/joystiqs-top-10-of-2008-mirrors-edge/">personally vouch</a> for its high levels of quality, actually. In terms of fun-to-cents ratio, you're looking at about 16 gazillion <em>wows</em> of entertainment value. Trust us, <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2006/10/11/the-algebra-of-wows-inspired-by-xbox-360-hd-dvd-dancers/">we did the math</a>.<br />

If you've been sitting around on your fat stacks of cash, waiting to pick up an extra <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/tag/dj-hero"><em>DJ Hero</em></a> controller then now is the time, friend. Activision sent along a press release stating that the turntable controllers are now in stock at the <a href="http://www.guitarherostore.com/Game-Controllers/Turntable-Controllers">Guitar Hero Store</a> for $70 a pop, $40 cheaper than the regular, game-packing bundle.<br />
<br />
With a weak showing on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2009/11/13/oct-npd-brutal-legend-sold-216k-dj-hero-sold-123k/">October's NPD charts</a> and <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2009/11/30/hmv-slashes-price-for-dj-hero-psp-go-in-the-uk/">UK retailers slashing prices</a>, we can't say we fully understand Activision's decision to charge so much for the turntables. From our vantage point, it looks like this: if Activision came down on the price a bit, more people would buy a second controller and have their friends try the game. Then, <em>maybe</em> those people would go out and buy their own set-up. Isn't that a novel idea?<p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.blogsmithmedia.com/http://www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2009/12/01/standalone-dj-hero-controllers-now-available-for-70/">Standalone DJ Hero controllers now available for $70</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Tue, 01 Dec 2009 19:30:00 EST. Microsoft just pulled back the curtain on <a href="http://www.xbox.com/en-CA/community/news/2009/1201-xbox360elitespecial.htm">a brand-new bundle</a> exclusively for our brothers and sisters to the north. Aside from a 250GB Xbox 360 Elite console, the bundle also includes a double dose of Bungie goodness: <em>Halo 3 </em>and <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/tag/halo-3-odst"><em>Halo 3: ODST</em></a>. <br />

Starting today, you can get your maple syrup-soaked hands on this for a suggested retail price of $399.99 CAD. If you're a US gamer wondering why we didn't get this piece of gear down here, relax -- let Canada win this one! Look, if for some crazy reason you've <em>still</em> not gotten yourself a <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/tag/dualshock3">DualShock 3</a> and, even <em>crazier</em>, haven't played through <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/tag/uncharted-drakes-fortune"><em>Uncharted: Drake's Fortune</em></a>, then you might want to check out <a href="http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B002Y2WBCM?ie=UTF8&amp;tag=prey0f&amp;linkCode=as2&amp;camp=1789&amp;creative=390957&amp;creativeASIN=B002Y2WBCM">this Amazon bundle</a> -- which is set to release December 15. <br /> <br /> For $60, you'll get a black DualShock 3 controller and experience every earth-shaking explosion in Nathan Drake's first adventure through glorious rumble or -- given the time of year -- gift your procrastinator friend or loved one with one sweet bundle, granted they haven't already acquired a new console in the last year or a new <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/tag/ps3-slim">PS3 Slim</a>. <br /> <br /> There's no word whether Sony will offer other bundles and together the two will only save you $7 right now (Amazon is pricing the game at $27 and the controller at $40), but we still wouldn't suggest playing <em>Uncharted</em> without a DualShock 3. What are you, some chump on the street not getting the fullest from your games? No, you hold yourself to a <em>higher</em> standard. <br /> <br /> [Thanks, Yingerman!]<p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.blogsmithmedia.com/http://www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2009/12/01/amazon-lists-uncharted-dualshock-3-combo-pack/">Amazon lists Uncharted/DualShock 3 combo pack</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Tue, 01 Dec 2009 18:00:00 EST. The PC version of Codies racer <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/tag/dirt-2"><em>DiRT 2</em></a> may be a bit behind the console pack, but it's crossing the finishing line in style. The extra time has allowed the team to throw a couple of more DirectXs in there (they've got it <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2009/10/22/directx-11-powered-dirt-2-heading-to-pcs-in-early-december/">up to 11</a> now!) and fine-tune all of the game's tessellation.<br /> <br /> And if you're still on the sidelines, wondering whether the game is for you (or, more importantly, if your puny rig can handle all of this <em>Xtreme tessellation</em> action), then why not try the game out right now? Codemasters was kind enough to hook up our sister site <a href="http://www.bigdownload.com/games/dirt-2/pc/dirt-2-demo/">Big Download</a> with a PC demo, so feel free to get a little dirty. Just, uh, change your clothes first. Your mom would <em>kill us</em> if you ruined that new Nickelback T-shirt.<p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.blogsmithmedia.com/http://www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2009/12/01/dirt-2-pc-demo-hits-the-track/">DiRT 2 PC demo hits the track</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Tue, 01 Dec 2009 16:30:00 EST. Back at E3, we were <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2009/06/02/impressions-brink-xbox-360-ps3-pc/">briefly shown</a> <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/tag/brink"><em>Brink</em></a>'s S.M.A.R.T. system for navigating around the Bethesda-published FPS' environment. Our play session was mainly focused on the combat and quests of the game at the time. Now, Splash Damage's own Paul Wedgewood has been kind enough to demonstrate how it works in-game, courtesy of the <a href="http://g4tv.com/videos/43012/Exclusive_Brink_Playing_Smart_Freedom_of_Movement_Preview/">G4</a> video past the break. <br />
<br />
Another interesting item brought up in this video is <em>Brink</em>'s new release date: Fall 2010. Last we heard, it was destined for a Spring 2010 release. <em>Not so anymore</em>!<br />

Good news, Japan! D3 Publisher is localizing <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/tag/bioshock-2"><em>Bioshock 2</em></a> for you and, this time around, you won't have to wait that long to get your ADAM-soaked hands on it. Andriasang <a href="http://www.andriasang.com/e/blog/2009/11/27/bioshock_2_japanese_release/">reports</a> D3 Publisher will release the 2K Marin, <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2009/07/10/bioshock-2-given-another-helping-hand-in-arkane-studios/">et al.</a>-developed sequel sometime in early 2010 -- presumably close to the February 9 <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2009/09/18/bioshock-2-washes-up-on-shore-feb-9-2010/">US release date</a>. We just hope the new Japanese ad campaign dials back the <a href="http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=pkyAFwPrD0k"><em>completely frightening</em></a> a bit.<p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.blogsmithmedia.com/http://www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2009/11/30/bioshock-2-coming-to-japan-courtesy-of-d3-publisher/">Bioshock 2 coming to Japan, courtesy of D3 Publisher</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Mon, 30 Nov 2009 18:00:00 EST. If you thought <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2009/11/23/nintendoware-weekly-bit-trip-void-super-mario-kart-a-boy-and/#continued">last week's NintendoWare Weekly update</a> was huge, well ... you'll probably think the same thing about this week's update! That's mostly because Nintendo provides quite the overweight offering this time, with a total of ten new titles available for your post-Thanksgiving download. Loosen that belt and make some room for more by heading past the break for the full list of this week's releases.<p><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2009/11/30/nintendoware-weekly-tales-of-monkey-island-bookworm-the-comba/" rel="bookmark">Continue reading <em>NintendoWare Weekly: Tales of Monkey Island, Bookworm, The Combatribes</em></a></p><p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.blogsmithmedia.com/http://www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2009/11/30/nintendoware-weekly-tales-of-monkey-island-bookworm-the-comba/">NintendoWare Weekly: Tales of Monkey Island, Bookworm, The Combatribes</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Mon, 30 Nov 2009 12:00:00 EST. EA's online store is running <a href="http://eastore.ea.com/DRHM/servlet/ControllerServlet?Action=DisplayCategoryProductListPage&amp;SiteID=ea&amp;Locale=en_US&amp;CallingPageID=CategoryProductListPage&amp;Env=BASE&amp;itemIdx=0&amp;categoryID=8831900&amp;childCategoryID=8831900">an exciting Black Friday sale</a>, with downloadable PC games getting 30 percent off from now until Monday. We're talking about discounts on a bunch of games here, with standouts such as <em>Burnout Paradise The Ultimate Box</em> for a cool $21 and <em>Mass Effect </em>for a very reasonable $14. <br />
<br />
Not everything is on sale, however -- some of the newer titles like <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/tag/left-4-dead-2"><em>Left 4 Dead 2</em></a> and the <em>Dragon Age Collector's Edition </em>don't qualify (though the regular version of the latter is on sale for $35). If you're determined to get good deals on some of these newer games, we have <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2009/11/25/black-friday-video-game-deals-hub/">a feeling</a> you'll be able to find 'em somewhere.<br />

Nintendo's resident name jotter-downer and kiester-kicker recently divulged to BMO Capital Markets attendees that the Wii is outperforming its rivals when it comes to female gamers. According to its estimates (via <a href="http://kotaku.com/5411707/nintendo-boasts-9-million-advantage-among-female-console-gamers">Kotaku</a>), 80 percent of the female console gaming crowd prefers Wii over the alternatives. With an estimated 11.7 million female console gamers in the Americas -- it's important to note this data of Nintendo's doesn't take into account DS owners or PC users -- the figure comes out to roughly nine million ladies waggling their way into the fun zone.<p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.blogsmithmedia.com/http://www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2009/11/26/nintendo-80-percent-of-female-console-gamers-prefer-wii/">Nintendo: 80 percent of female console gamers prefer Wii</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Thu, 26 Nov 2009 03:00:00 EST. Microsoft must like Nintendo's new <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2009/06/14/new-super-mario-bros-wii-future-titles-will-play-themselves/">Super Guide</a> system, because a patent has recently popped up online detailing <a href="http://www.faqs.org/patents/app/20090209337">a similar system</a> for the Xbox 360. The core difference between Microsoft's proposed system and Nintendo's comes from community input; the patent not only touches on a way for users to submit screens and brief guides for those especially tough spots in games, but also says users will be able to include brief audio commentary and add to their screens using a digital pen feature. The system also details functionality for devs and publishers, giving their insights and guides more weight than those from the community.<br />
<br />
It's ambitious, to say the least, and even though we foresee millions of potential <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/tag/halo-3"><em>Halo 3</em></a> teabagging tutorials, we're all for anything that helps us game better.<br />

<a href="http://www.warchild.org/">War Child International</a> is a coalition of organizations that seeks to aid children affected by war. Activision UK and GAME have decided to pitch in and are joining up to host an online event next weekend in <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/tag/modern-warfare-2"><em>Modern Warfare 2</em></a>, asking that UK citizens play a bit of the game on Xbox Live. The more people enlist for action online, the more Activision UK will donate to the charity.<br />
<br />
If you're looking for more information on the event, there's <a href="http://www.facebook.com/GameforGood?v=app%207146470109">a Facebook page</a> and <a href="http://twitter.com/GameforGood">a Twitter account</a> set up to help coordinate. If you've got a busy weekend ahead of you on December 4, try to make time for at least one online match. It's not every day you can make someone else's life better just by playing a video game.<p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.blogsmithmedia.com/http://www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2009/11/25/game-and-activision-uk-team-up-for-modern-warfare-2-charity-even/">GAME and Activision UK team up for Modern Warfare 2 charity event next weekend</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Wed, 25 Nov 2009 19:30:00 EST. If you've got an impressive amount of money buried in your backyard and would love to own a super slick gaming machine, Alienware might be an option you're currently considering. The company has <a href="http://store.steampowered.com/alienware/">announced</a> that its "All Powerful" systems will ship with Valve's Steam platform pre-loaded onto the system, allowing potential gamers to sign up for <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2009/11/13/how-not-to-boycott-modern-warfare-2/"><em>Modern Warfare 2</em> boycotts</a> mere moments after booting the rig up.<br />
<br />
The Steam client will also include a free copy of <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/tag/portal"><em>Portal</em></a>, in case you <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2008/01/01/joystiqs-top-10-games-of-2007/">missed most of 2007</a>.<p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.blogsmithmedia.com/http://www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2009/11/25/alienware-machines-now-come-pre-loaded-with-steam/">Alienware machines now come pre-loaded with Steam</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Wed, 25 Nov 2009 14:40:00 EST. Pugilists looking to beef up their stable of brawlers in <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/tag/fight-night-round-4"><em>Fight Night Round 4</em></a> will be able to do just that when EA offers up three new fighters in a DLC pack for 360 and PS3 on December 3. For the price of 160<span class="album_title"><img border="0" src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.xbox360fanboy.com/media/2007/11/microsoftpointslogosmall.gif" alt="" /></span> ($2) and $1.99, respectively, you'll be able to add boxing greats Evander Holyfield, Sonny Liston and Bernard Hopkins to your virtual lineup of potential pulverizers. In addition to the new DLC, EA will also bring in the cut man to fix a few issues fighters are having with the game -- you can find the full list of fixes after the break -- and will add Old School Rules and Ring Rivalry mode. Here's the fight card:<br />

<span class="text_article_body">Kevin Shortt, master wordsmith at Ubisoft Montreal, has allegedly confirmed to Official PlayStation Magazine UK (via <a href="http://www.computerandvideogames.com/article.php?id=228138">CVG</a>) that <em>Far Cry 3</em> is in development at the Canadian super-studio. Most of you know that we had no problem heaping copious amounts of praise upon <em>Far Cry 2</em>, one of our <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2009/01/01/joystiqs-top-10-of-2008-far-cry-2/">Top 10 games of 2008</a>, so a third installment is most certainly welcome in these parts. Sadly, Shortt didn't say whether Ubisoft has decided to <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2008/08/27/far-cry-3-probably-sticking-with-african-setting/">go with Africa again</a> for the setting, but offered that what he's seen of the game looks "pretty exciting."<br />
<br />
So ... that's pretty exciting, right?<br />

"<a href="http://www.joystiq.com/tag/deus-ex-3"><em>Deus Ex 3</em></a> is going to be the first project which will be a concrete product of joint effort between Square Enix and Eidos," said Stephane D'Astous, general manager of Eidos Montreal. According to comments made to <a href="http://www.edge-online.com/news/ea-montreal-re-focusing-on-hd-quality-products">Edge</a> by EA Montreal general manager Alain Tascan, you can expect more big action titles like <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/tag/army-of-two-the-40th-day"><em>Army of Two: The 40th Day</em></a> from the studio. While previous Wii games, including <em>Skate It</em>, <em>Boogie Superstar</em> and the recently released <em>Need for Speed: Nitro</em>, have enjoyed acceptable levels of success, Tascan believes that targeting HD consoles with "fewer and bigger things" might yield improved results. It's a prudent approach, no doubt stemming from the publisher's <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2009/11/09/losses-layoffs-in-eas-q2-earnings-report/">recent</a> <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2009/11/17/pandemic-closes-physical-doors-brand-lives-on/">layoffs</a>.<br /><br /> Tascan explains that the Wii market is "a little bit unpredictable these days," further encouraging a shift to additional "big, blockbuster-type titles." We probably don't need Tascan to point out that <em>Army of Two</em> is "the most successful original IP EA has had in the last few years," since it's the first to get a big, blockbuster sequel ahead of <em>Dead Space </em>and -- can we dream? -- <em>Mirror's Edge</em>.<p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.blogsmithmedia.com/http://www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2009/11/24/ea-montreal-shifting-focus-to-big-blockbuster-type-titles/">EA Montreal shifting focus to 'big, blockbuster-type titles'</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Tue, 24 Nov 2009 11:45:00 EST. There's a rumor circulating around the wild wild web right now that says Square Enix may not be looking to offer <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/tag/kingdom-hearts-birth-by-sleep"><em>Kingdom of Hearts: Birth by Sleep</em></a> via digital distribution on PSN, possibly adding insult to injury for all <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/tag/psp-go">PSP Go</a> owners out there. The rumor originated from Twitter user <a href="http://twitter.com/Magunus">Magunus</a>, who apparently attended a recent PlayStation event in Japan (we can't figure out which event this is referring to, and there's no mention on <a href="http://blog.jp.square-enix.com/kingdom/">the official Japanese blog</a>) where a clerk confirmed it, citing "copyright issues." <br />
<br />
This strikes us as odd not only because of the tenuous nature by which this has been reported, but because a lot of <a href="http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_Disney_Interactive_Studios_games">Disney Interactive's titles</a> have been made available via digital distribution in the past. We've contacted both Square Enix and Disney Interactive about this and will be sure to let you know what we hear back.<br />

Sometimes an idea is just <em>so good</em>, you can hardly believe you came up with it. That must be how Harrison Krix felt after creating the elaborate and awesome Big Daddy costume you see above -- not since <em><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/tag/bioshock">BioShock</a> </em>released have we been so eager to heap praise on something. Well, Mr. Krix, we hope you <em>suffocate on our affection</em>, because taking your costume to the Georgia Aquarium for <a href="http://volpinprops.blogspot.com/2009/11/aquarium-photoshoot.html">some underwater snapshots</a> has to be the <em>best idea ever</em>. <br />
<br />
If you're scratching your head, wondering just where you've seen these two before, let us help you: right here on our website. Krix's girlfriend (holding another of his creations in the pic above, the <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2009/02/26/joystiq-interview-harrison-krix-video-game-replica-designer/">ADAM syringe</a>) is quite the cosplayer, which initially got Krix into <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2009/02/03/how-to-make-a-portal-gun-replica-hint-its-not-easy/">the game of making things from games</a>. Take notes, gents! <em>That's</em> how you woo the ladies.<br />
