Virtua Fighter's Jacky Bryant will <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2013/05/22/dead-or-alive-5-ultimate-adds-ein-virtua-fighters-jacky-bryant/">join his sister</a> Sarah in <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2013/05/09/dead-or-alive-5-ultimate-confirmed-for-xbox-360-ps3-this-fall/"><em>Dead or Alive 5 Ultimate</em></a> and, in a new trailer and set of screens, the pair team up in a tag match. We get a good glimpse at some of the spiky-haired brawler's move set, alongside <em>Ultimate</em>'s other new cast member, Ein.<br />

<em>Dead or Alive 5 Ultimate</em> is an upcoming retail and digital re-release on Xbox 360 and PS3 of last year's Team Ninja fighter, <em>Dead or Alive 5</em>. Ultimate includes modes and content from the PS Vita port <em><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/game/dead-or-alive-5-plus">Dead or Alive 5 Plus</a></em>, like additional stages - some themed around <em>Ninja Gaiden</em> - and, of course, extra characters.<div class="postgallery"><p><strong>Gallery: <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/photos/dead-or-alive-5-ultimate-5-24-13/">Dead or Alive 5 Ultimate (5/24/13)</a></strong></p><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/photos/dead-or-alive-5-ultimate-5-24-13/#5907530"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.joystiq.com/media/2013/05/doa5ugroupbscreenshot01jackyenter_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/photos/dead-or-alive-5-ultimate-5-24-13/#5907531"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.joystiq.com/media/2013/05/doa5ugroupbscreenshot02jackywin_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/photos/dead-or-alive-5-ultimate-5-24-13/#5907532"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.joystiq.com/media/2013/05/doa5ugroupbscreenshot03jacky-vs-christie_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/photos/dead-or-alive-5-ultimate-5-24-13/#5907533"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.joystiq.com/media/2013/05/doa5ugroupbscreenshot04jacky-vs-christie_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/photos/dead-or-alive-5-ultimate-5-24-13/#5907534"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.joystiq.com/media/2013/05/doa5ugroupbscreenshot05jackysarah-vs-rig_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a></div><p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.blogsmithmedia.com/www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2013/05/25/see-ein-and-jacky-throw-down-in-dead-or-alive-5-ultimate/">See Ein and Jacky throw down in Dead or Alive 5 Ultimate</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Sat, 25 May 2013 01:00:00 EST. As promised, <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/game/dust-an-elysian-tail"><em>Dust: An Elysian Tail</em></a> has found its way to Steam today. Until May 31, you can grab <em>Dust</em> for <a href="http://store.steampowered.com/app/236090/">$13.50</a>, ten percent off its usual $15 asking price.<br />
<br />
The action-adventure RPG from Humble Heart made its debut on Xbox Live Arcade back in August as part of the <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2012/06/19/xbla-summer-of-arcade-2012-detailed-tony-hawk-kick-flips-it-of/">Summer of Arcade</a> promotion. Despite how vast <em>Dust: An Elysian Tail</em> is, it's actually <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/game/dust-an-elysian-tail">missing a third of its intended story</a>, which was cut due to the months of extra time it would've taken to finalize the larger vision. Even with the omitted content, <em>Dust: An Elysian Tail</em> turned out to be <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2012/08/20/dust-an-elysian-tail-review-dusting-off-a-classic-formula/">a fine game</a>.<p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.blogsmithmedia.com/www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2013/05/24/psa-dust-an-elysian-tail-explores-steam-today/">PSA: Dust: An Elysian Tail explores Steam today</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Fri, 24 May 2013 23:10:00 EST. A listing for something called "Bootcamp" has surfaced over on the Korean ratings board GRB. Its description specifically calls out <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/game/halo-3"><em>Halo 3</em></a> and classifies "Bootcamp" as a PC/Online game.<br />
<br />
In a comment to <a href="http://www.gamefront.com/halo-bootcamp-outed-on-korean-ratings-board-ms-confirms/">GameFront</a>, Microsoft dismissed any association with <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/tag/xbox-one">Xbox One</a>, which would suggest <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2013/05/21/microsoft-steven-spielberg-working-on-halo-the-television-seri/">the new TV series</a> in the works is ruled out. Microsoft also denied any connection with the Reclaimer saga started with <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/game/halo-4"><em>Halo 4</em></a> in the same statement.<br />
<br />
Speculation is this could be a PC port of <em>Halo 3</em>, though Microsoft doesn't seem to be addressing that question either. We've reached out for comment.<p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.blogsmithmedia.com/www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2013/05/24/bootcamp-spotted-on-korean-ratings-board-halo-3-mentioned/">Halo 'Bootcamp' project spotted on Korean ratings board</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Fri, 24 May 2013 21:10:00 EST. With <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2012/07/18/fight-night-team-developing-ea-sports-ufc/">EA Canada focused</a> on EA's <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/game/ea-sports-ufc">upcoming UFC game</a>, the Fight Night franchise has been put on hold at EA Sports.<br />
<br />
"Right now, a great portion of the core of the Fight Night team are actually the team that are building UFC," EA Sports executive vice president Andrew Wilson told <a href="http://www.ign.com/articles/2013/05/23/ea-sports-ufc-halts-fight-night-development">IGN</a>. "Do I see a future for Fight Night? You know, sure. But right now, UFC is where our fighting focus is."<br />
<br />
2011's <em><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/game/fight-night-champion">Fight Night Champion</a></em> was the latest game in EA's boxing franchise, introducing a new "Full-Spectrum" punch control system and a Hollywood-inspired campaign following fictitious convict boxer's struggle to overcome adversity and many, many punches to the face. The series was born from the ashes of EA's previous boxing series, Knockout Kings, in 2004.<p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.blogsmithmedia.com/www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2013/05/24/fight-night-franchise-on-hold-as-ea-canada-focuses-on-ufc/">Fight Night franchise on hold as EA Canada focuses on UFC</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Fri, 24 May 2013 19:40:00 EST. Frugal survivalists can enlist in Lara Croft's prequel adventure, <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/game/tomb-raider-2013"><em>Tomb Raider</em></a>, for $13.60 today. The deal is over on PC digital distribution outlet <a href="http://www.greenmangaming.com/s/us/en/pc/games/action/tomb-raider/">Green Man Gaming</a>, which has the Crystal Dynamics reboot currently listed at $17 - simply add coupon code "<strong>GMG20-LLASD-D8WBQ</strong>" (without quotes, boldness is entirely up to you) in the checkout screen and you'll get the extra-reduced price.<br />
<br />
In <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2013/03/04/tomb-raider-review/">our review</a> of <em>Tomb Raider</em>, we cited the joy of exploration and story's revelatory crescendo as catalysts for our love of Lara's coming-of-age tale. "The arc is drawn perfectly, with the edges of the old <em>Tomb Raider</em> starting to poke through as the story comes to a close, teasing what's yet to come." Several DLC packs have been issued, adding new maps and modes to the multiplayer side of the game. Crystal Dynamics has said it has <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2013/03/20/tomb-raider-single-player-dlc-isnt-in-crystal-dynamics-current/">no plans to offer single-player DLC</a>.<p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.blogsmithmedia.com/www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2013/05/24/tomb-raider-on-sale-for-14-at-green-man-gaming/">Tomb Raider on sale for $14 at Green Man Gaming</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Fri, 24 May 2013 16:30:00 EST. Rumor has it that Microsoft's <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/tag/xbox-one">Xbox One</a> console will feature remote play through <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2011/05/10/microsoft-buys-skype-plans-to-add-support-to-kinect-and-xbox-li/">Skype</a>, allowing someone to remotely take over gameplay on the local console directly from a Skype call. Either player may break the remote play session at any time.<br />
<br />
Supposedly the feature is in testing phase right now, though <a href="http://www.polygon.com/2013/5/24/4361974/the-xbox-one-can-talk-to-you-will-feature-remote-play">Polygon</a>'s source notes that certain details are still up in the air - like how long that individual can remotely play or whether they need to own the same game or not. Your patience has paid off. Today, Capcom has issued the full <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/tag/capcom-arcade-cabinet/"><em>Capcom Arcade Cabinet</em></a> collection - a cheaper bundle of all 17 games previously issued in piecemeal packs and as individual downloads. The all-in-one pack is available starting today for 2,000 MS Points ($30), a saving of $15 over purchasing all five game packs.<br />
<br />
<em>Capcom Arcade Cabinet</em> highlights games from the publisher's catalog spanning the years between 1984 and 1988. The full list of 17 games within the <em>Capcom Arcade Cabinet</em> are <em>Black Tiger, Avengers, 1943, The Battle of Midway, Ghosts n Goblins, Gun Smoke, Section Z, Side Arms, Legendary Wings, Trojan, Commando, The Speed Rumbler, Exed Exes (Savage Bees), 1942, SonSon </em>and<em> Pirate Ship Higemaru</em>. There are also two secret games: <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2013/04/16/capcom-arcade-cabinet-secret-games-are-1943-kai-and-vulgus/"><em>1943 Kai</em> and <em>Vulgus</em></a>.<p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.blogsmithmedia.com/www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2013/05/24/psa-capcom-arcade-cabinet-all-in-one-available-now/">PSA: Capcom Arcade Cabinet all-in-one available now</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Fri, 24 May 2013 12:00:00 EST. <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/tag/class-of-heroes-2"><em>Class of Heroes 2</em></a>, MonkeyPaw's PSP game from 2009, is finally coming to North America on June 4. PSN users can snag the fully localized JRPG dungeon crawler - which is playable on both PSP and PS Vita - for $25 from the PSN store.<br />
<br />
The effort to localize <em>Class of Heroes 2</em> began in 2012 with <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2012/03/28/monkeypaw-and-gaijinworks-kickstart-a-class-of-heroes-2-localiza/">a Kickstarter campaign</a> seeking $500,000 in funding. Ultimately, only $96,951 was raised, though MonkeyPaw CEO John Greiner wasn't too down in <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2012/05/25/monkeypaw-on-the-educational-upside-of-class-of-heroes-2-kicksta/">a follow-up interview with Joystiq</a>.<br />
<br />
Greiner said that even though the Kickstarter campaign failed, "we were able to educate people about the game and its features. That will help immensely when we release the digital version."<p><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2013/05/24/class-of-heroes-2-in-session-on-psn-june-4/" rel="bookmark">Continue reading <em>Class of Heroes 2 available on PSN June 4</em></a></p><p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.blogsmithmedia.com/www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2013/05/24/class-of-heroes-2-in-session-on-psn-june-4/">Class of Heroes 2 available on PSN June 4</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Fri, 24 May 2013 04:00:00 EST. <em>Phoenix Wright: Ace Attorney Trilogy HD</em> has been pegged for a May 30 launch on iOS. The game was initially <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2012/08/29/phoenix-wright-ace-attorney-trilogy-hd-coming-to-ios-this-fall/">announced</a> for last fall, <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2013/04/25/objection-phoenix-wright-trilogy-hd-delayed-again-for-ios-due/">pushed back to July</a> and has now been bumped up to the end of this month.<br />
<br />
<em>Phoenix Wright: Ace Attorney Trilogy HD</em> is a bundle of the first three DS games, <em>Ace Attorney</em>, <em>Justice for All</em> and <em>Trials and Tribulations, all </em>"remastered and enhanced for retina displays," <a href="http://www.capcom-unity.com/xantista/blog/2013/05/23/phoenix-wright-ace-attorney-trilogy-hd-coming-to-ios-may-30th">Capcom says</a>. The app itself is a free download for iOS 5.0 and greater devices, with the first two chapters of the first game serving as a demo. Each game may be purchased separately - the first is $6 and the other two are $7 each - or in a collection for $17.<p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.blogsmithmedia.com/www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2013/05/23/phoenix-wright-trilogy-hd-enters-ios-courtroom-may-30/">Phoenix Wright Trilogy HD enters iOS courtroom May 30</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Thu, 23 May 2013 23:00:00 EST. <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/game/payday-2"><em>Payday 2</em></a>, the Overkill-developed crook sim, is set to launch in August. The news comes at the end of the trailer above, which teases a new web series set to start in two weeks.<br />
<br />
We have yet to see any actual <em>Payday 2</em> gameplay beyond <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2013/03/13/payday-2-trailer-and-the-importance-of-cutting-eyeholes-in-your/">a brief teaser</a> issued in March, but feel free to case our gallery of in-game shots below. <em>Payday 2</em> - which adds classes and a contracts database on top of its predecessor's core robbery mechanics - is planning its heist on Steam, PS3 and Xbox 360. Pre-orders are <a href="http://store.steampowered.com/news/10675/">open on Steam</a> right now and all who sign up early will get an in-game loot pack. <span><div class="postgallery"><p><strong>Gallery: <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/photos/payday-2/">Payday 2</a></strong></p><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/photos/payday-2/#5903721"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.joystiq.com/media/2013/05/payday2-docksferrymanclean_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/photos/payday-2/#5903722"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.joystiq.com/media/2013/05/payday2-docksredlight_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/photos/payday-2/#5903723"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.joystiq.com/media/2013/05/payday2-docksunstoppable_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/photos/payday-2/#5903724"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.joystiq.com/media/2013/05/payday2-jewelrystoreheistclean_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/photos/payday-2/#5903725"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.joystiq.com/media/2013/05/payday2-jewelrystoreshootout_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a></div></span><p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.blogsmithmedia.com/www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2013/05/23/payday-2-planning-an-august-heist-web-series-starts-in-two-week/">Payday 2 planning an August heist, web series starts in two weeks</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Thu, 23 May 2013 17:30:00 EST. Microsoft has announced <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/tag/kinect-for-windows">Kinect for Windows</a> will receive the updated Kinect sensor shown at the <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/tag/xbox-reveal">Xbox reveal event</a> for the <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/xbox-one">Xbox One</a>. The rub: it won't arrive until some time in 2014.<br />
<br />
We already knew Kinect for Windows would be updated with <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2013/05/22/next-gen-kinect-coming-to-pc/">the new sensor</a> and a new software development kit (SDK). The improved Kinect sports a 1080p RGB camera, capable of 30 FPS in full color, and can even see in the dark through infrared. The new Kinect also has a greater field of depth which Microsoft promises will cut down on the required distance from the device. It can also <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2013/05/21/xbox-ones-kinect-discerns-heartbeat-and-who-has-the-controller/">read your heartbeat</a> but we try not to think about that too much because it's <em>scary</em>.<p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.blogsmithmedia.com/www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2013/05/23/next-gen-kinect-for-windows-gesticulating-in-2014/">Next-gen Kinect for Windows gesticulating in 2014</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Thu, 23 May 2013 16:00:00 EST. The NFL will receive $400 million from Microsoft over the next five years, according to an <a href="http://www.nfl.com/news/story/0ap1000000205083/article/nfl-microsoft-strike-deal-to-enhance-fans-tv-viewing-of-games">Associated Press</a> source. The partnership was <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2013/05/21/xbox-one-features-nfl-live-broadcasts-smartglass-fantasy-footba/">announced</a> during <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/tag/xbox-reveal">Microsoft's Xbox One unveiling</a> yesterday and will see NFL content coming to Microsoft's next-generation console.<br />
<br />
As for the NFL side, fans will see Microsoft branding on-field during live games starting this upcoming season. Coaches and other team officials will be provided <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2012/06/18/microsoft-announces-surface-tablet-at-los-angeles-event/">Microsoft Surface tablets</a>, with the possibility of further technological innovations coming from Microsoft throughout the longevity of the deal.<br />
<br />
The Xbox One will have interactive features integrated during broadcasts, including <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/tag/smartglass">SmartGlass</a>, <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2013/05/21/xbox-one-allows-group-skype-video-calls/">group Skype calling</a> and fantasy stats available during <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2013/05/21/xbox-one-features-nfl-live-broadcasts-smartglass-fantasy-footba/">live NFL games</a>. Recently, Amazon announced a limited edition version of <em>Madden NFL 25</em> bundled with <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2013/05/17/limited-amazon-exclusive-madden-25-special-edition-includes-free/">a free DirecTV NFL Sunday Ticket subscription</a>.<p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.blogsmithmedia.com/www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2013/05/22/report-microsofts-nfl-deal-valued-at-400-million-over-five-ye/">Report: Microsoft's NFL deal valued at $400 million over five years</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Wed, 22 May 2013 20:30:00 EST. With the next generation of the <em>Call of Duty</em> engine, Activision studios will be able to produce curved objects with realism never before seen in the series. In layman's terms, that means the dogs will look really good - just look at Ghost Dog compared to MW3 Dog. <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/game/metro-last-light"><em>Metro: Last Light</em></a> developer 4A Games is planning to release four different content packs throughout the summer, all bundled together today in a season pass available on Xbox Live, PSN and Steam for 1200 MS Points ($15).<br />
<br />
The Faction and Chronicle packs are the first listed, each aimed at continuing the single-player story of <em>Metro: Last Light. </em>Faction is due first, in June. The Tower pack will be aimed at <em>Metro</em> veterans, offering "a unique solo challenge." Finally, the Developer pack aims to offer some additional tools aiding in exploration. All season pass purchases will also unlock an exclusive semi-automatic shotgun rifle, while each piece of DLC will be available for individual purchase.<br />
<br />
<em>Metro: Last Light</em> launched on May 14, with <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2013/05/13/metro-last-light-review/">our review</a> placing it in the company of another story-driven shooter, <em>Half-Life</em>. The game was originally set to be published by THQ, but after <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/tag/thq-bankruptcy/">the studio's fall</a> Deep Silver came in and <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2013/01/23/deep-silver-confirms-acquisition-of-saints-row-metro-and-voliti/">acquired the game</a>.<p><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2013/05/22/metro-last-light-puts-season-pass-in-the-spotlight-first-dlc-i/" rel="bookmark">Continue reading <em>Metro: Last Light gets season pass, first DLC in June</em></a></p><p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.blogsmithmedia.com/www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2013/05/22/metro-last-light-puts-season-pass-in-the-spotlight-first-dlc-i/">Metro: Last Light gets season pass, first DLC in June</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Wed, 22 May 2013 15:00:00 EST. While no such thing is planned for the <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/tag/xbox-one">Xbox One</a> launch window later this year, Microsoft Studios VP Phil Spencer isn't ruling out the possibility of video game shows like <em><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/tag/1-vs-100/">1 vs 100</a> </em>for the Xbox One.<br />
<br />
Microsoft learned "a ton" from <em>1 vs 100</em> about bringing "hundreds of thousands of people together in a virtual game environment and have them play with each other and give away real prizes," Spencer told <a href="http://www.oxm.co.uk/54528/microsoft-1-vs-100-style-interactive-gameshows-will-return-on-xbox-one/">OXM</a>. "I think that's a category that lends itself to our kind of community and interactivity," but he added no such thing would likely make launch. "We'll see how our timelines go."<br />
<br />
<em>1 vs 100</em> was <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2011/01/02/best-of-the-rest-bens-picks-of-2010/">a</a> <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2011/01/01/best-of-the-rest-daves-picks-of-2010/">big</a> <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2011/01/01/best-of-the-rest-alexanders-picks-of-2010/">hit</a> with the Joystiq staff when it launched in 2010. <em>1 vs 100 </em>was a weekly free game show played through Xbox Live at a specific time, where contestants could win real prizes. Microsoft pulled the plug in July of that year, though ex-host Chris Cashman was kind enough to produce <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2010/07/18/chris-cashman-speaks-on-the-end-of-1-vs-100/">a goodbye video</a> of sorts.<p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.blogsmithmedia.com/www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2013/05/22/1-vs-100-style-game-shows-possible-on-xbox-one/">1 vs 100-style game shows possible on Xbox One</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Wed, 22 May 2013 14:30:00 EST. Don't expect any cross-platform play between Xbox 360 and <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/tag/xbox-one">Xbox One</a>. That's what Microsoft Xbox UK marketing manager Harvey Eagle confirmed to <a href="http://www.videogamer.com/news/microsoft_rules_out_xbox_one_xbox_360_cross-platform_play.html">Videogamer</a>. <br />
<br />
"Because of the different architecture of the systems it's not possible. Your Xbox Live account on 360 will carry over to Xbox One. That same account will work on both platforms. The multiplayer won't," Eagle told Videogamer. The Xbox 360 is built on PowerPC architecture, while the Xbox One utilizes an x86 chipset - so no purchased games will <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2013/05/21/xbox-one-not-backwards-compatible-with-360-discs-xbla-purchases/">transfer</a> to the new system.<br />
<br />
The Xbox One was announced by Microsoft yesterday during its Redmond campus <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/tag/xbox-reveal">Xbox reveal</a> event. The Xbox One is due to launch later this year. Xbox Live profiles and corresponding Achievements on Xbox 360 will <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2013/05/21/xbox-one-not-backwards-compatible-with-360-discs-xbla-purchases/">carry over to Xbox One</a>, which also <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2013/05/21/xbox-one-supports-1000-friends/">bumps up the friends limit to 1,000</a>.<p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.blogsmithmedia.com/www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2013/05/22/microsoft-no-cross-platform-play-between-xbox-one-and-xbox-360/">Microsoft: No cross-platform play between Xbox One and Xbox 360</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Wed, 22 May 2013 12:00:00 EST. <p>At one point, <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/tag/slant-six-games/">Slant Six Games</a> was apparently working on a <em>Medal of Honor</em> game for PS Vita. Some concept art for the game showed up over on an artist's portfolio site, spotted by the <a href="https://twitter.com/supererogatory/status/336573518064001025">@supererogatory</a> Twitter account.<br />
<br />
<a href="http://www.joystiq.com/game/medal-of-honor-warfighter"><em>Medal of Honor: Warfighter</em></a> was the latest entry in the Medal of Honor series, developed by EA's Danger Close studio. Following that game's poor reception, EA's Peter Moore announced the franchise is now "<a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2013/01/30/ea-medal-of-honor-is-out-of-rotation-following-poor-warfighte/">out of the rotation</a>."</p>

<p>Slant Six Games' last release was the <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2012/03/20/resident-evil-operation-raccoon-city-review/">lackluster</a> <em>Resident Evil: Operation Raccoon City</em> for Capcom - a spin-off that takes place during the outbreak of Raccoon City, first seen in <em>Resident Evil 2</em>. In April, Slant Six Games issued <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2013/04/10/slant-six-games-rolls-out-temporary-layoffs-again/">temporary layoffs</a>, a stopgap measure to help keep interim operating costs down in-between contract work. Slant Six issued similar layoffs in <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2010/04/09/slant-six-enacts-temporary-layoffs-star-wars-battlefront-onli/">2010</a> and <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2012/06/12/slant-six-hit-with-layoffs-post-raccoon-city/">after shipping <em>RE: Operation Raccoon City</em> last year</a>.</p><p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.blogsmithmedia.com/www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2013/05/22/rumor-slant-six-worked-on-medal-of-honor-ps-vita-game/">Rumor: Slant Six worked on Medal of Honor PS Vita game</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Wed, 22 May 2013 01:00:00 EST. Microsoft's <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/tag/xbox-reveal">Xbox reveal event</a> went down today, where the company unveiled its next Xbox, called the <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/tag/xbox-one">Xbox One</a>.<br />
<br />
It's a cloud-based machine sporting <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2013/05/21/next-gen-kinect-sensor-unveiled-for-xbox-one/">an improved Kinect camera</a>, along with <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2013/05/21/xbox-one-controller-has-new-d-pad-integrated-battery-compartmen/">a redesigned controller</a> with a new d-pad and integrated battery compartment. The console itself has a Blu-ray drive, 500GB of internal storage and an eight-core x86 CPU paired with 8GB of system memory. In many ways, it's <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2013/05/21/xbox-one-and-playstation-4-specs-compared/">similar</a> to the make-up of the PS4.<div class="postgallery"><p><strong>Gallery: <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/photos/xbox-one-console/">Xbox One Console</a></strong></p><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/photos/xbox-one-console/#5898959"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.joystiq.com/media/2013/05/xboxone-reveal-5_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/photos/xbox-one-console/#5898960"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.joystiq.com/media/2013/05/xboxone-reveal-6_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/photos/xbox-one-console/#5898961"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.joystiq.com/media/2013/05/xboxone-reveal-7_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/photos/xbox-one-console/#5898962"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.joystiq.com/media/2013/05/xboxone-reveal-8_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/photos/xbox-one-console/#5898963"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.joystiq.com/media/2013/05/xboxone-reveal-9_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a></div><p><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2013/05/21/xbox-one-everything-from-microsofts-xbox-reveal-event/" rel="bookmark">Continue reading <em>Xbox One: Everything from Microsoft's Xbox reveal event</em></a></p><p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.blogsmithmedia.com/www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2013/05/21/xbox-one-everything-from-microsofts-xbox-reveal-event/">Xbox One: Everything from Microsoft's Xbox reveal event</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Tue, 21 May 2013 17:25:00 EST. Our pals Alexander and Ludwig are in Redmond right now for the <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/tag/xbox-reveal/">Xbox reveal event</a>. They've totally stood next to the Xbox One and, having taken the less selfish path of lording it over the rest of the staff, decided to snap a few pictures for all you lovely folks. Check out Microsoft's next-generation console, the Xbox One, in our gallery below!<div class="postgallery"><p><strong>Gallery: <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/photos/xbox-one-console/">Xbox One Console</a></strong></p><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/photos/xbox-one-console/#5898959"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.joystiq.com/media/2013/05/xboxone-reveal-5_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/photos/xbox-one-console/#5898960"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.joystiq.com/media/2013/05/xboxone-reveal-6_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/photos/xbox-one-console/#5898961"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.joystiq.com/media/2013/05/xboxone-reveal-7_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/photos/xbox-one-console/#5898962"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.joystiq.com/media/2013/05/xboxone-reveal-8_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/photos/xbox-one-console/#5898963"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.joystiq.com/media/2013/05/xboxone-reveal-9_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a></div><p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.blogsmithmedia.com/www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2013/05/21/first-shots-of-xbox-one/">First shots of Xbox One</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Tue, 21 May 2013 14:19:00 EST. Andrew Wilson, EA Sports boss, took to the stage at Microsoft's Xbox One event and confirmed that EA and Microsoft have entered into a "special relationship." This will see four EA Sports games on Xbox One:<em> FIFA 14</em>, <em>Madden NFL 25</em>, <em>NBA Live 14</em> and <em>UFC</em>. All four will launch within the next 12 months, Wilson said.<br />
<br />
EA Sports Ignite, a new engine created at EA, will power each game, attempting to emulate human intelligence and true player motion within each games. There are "four times more calculations per second" to achieve this. <strong>Special content for</strong><em> FIFA 14 Ultimate Team</em> will "only be on Xbox," Wilson concluded before showing off an EA Sports sizzle reel.<br />
<br />
<strong>Update</strong>: EA has clarified <a href="https://twitter.com/EA/status/336959734768865281">via Twitter</a> that <em>FIFA 14 Ultimate Team</em> will be available on both PlayStation 4 and Xbox One, though there will be content exclusive to the Xbox One version. The text of this post has been updated to reflect that.<p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.blogsmithmedia.com/www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2013/05/21/ea-microsoft-enter-into-special-relationship-fifa-14-madden/">EA, Microsoft enter into 'special relationship,' FIFA 14, Madden NFL 25, NBA Live 14, UFC on Xbox One [Update]</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Tue, 21 May 2013 13:28:00 EST. Xbox One, Microsoft's upcoming next-generation console, will allow multiple apps to run simultaneously through Snap mode. Microsoft's Yusuf Mehdi demonstrated the functionality while watching Star Trek, allowing him to instantly access Internet Explorer through the Xbox One to research trailers for the sequel film, look up movie times and even purchase tickets.<br />
<br />
The ESPN app also showed off some Snap stuff, letting Xbox One users watch live sports on ESPN, then using Snap to research stats on key players by speaking to Kinect. Xbox One will even let fantasy sports fans update their teams and interact with their leagues through Snap mode.<p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.blogsmithmedia.com/www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2013/05/21/xbox-one-snap-mode-lets-apps-run-simultaneously/">Xbox One 'Snap' mode lets apps run simultaneously</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Tue, 21 May 2013 13:12:00 EST. Two more factions, Indonesia and Morocco, have been revealed for upcoming <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/game/civilization-v"><em>Civilization 5</em></a> expansion, <em>Brave New World</em>. Leading Indonesia is Gaja Mada, famous for his military insight as prime minister of the <a href="http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Majapahit_Empire">Majapahit Empire</a>; Ahmad al-Mansur leads the Moroccans, sultan of the <a href="http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Saadi_dynasty">Saadi dynasty</a> in the 1500s.<br />
<br />
<em>Brave New World</em>, the second expansion to <em>Civilization 5</em>, is due in July and will add nine new civilizations, several new wonders and modified mechanics from the base game. The first expansion, <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2012/06/18/civilization-5-gods-and-kings-review/"><em>Gods and Kings</em></a>, arrived last summer, adding new espionage and religious mechanics.<div class="postgallery"><p><strong>Gallery: <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/photos/civilization-5-brave-new-world-indonesia-and-morocco/">Civilization 5: Brave New World (Indonesia and Morocco)</a></strong></p><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/photos/civilization-5-brave-new-world-indonesia-and-morocco/#5893518"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.joystiq.com/media/2013/05/2kgmktcivvbnwhero-artahmadal-mansurmorocco_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/photos/civilization-5-brave-new-world-indonesia-and-morocco/#5893519"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.joystiq.com/media/2013/05/2kgmktcivvbnwhero-artgajamadaindonesia_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/photos/civilization-5-brave-new-world-indonesia-and-morocco/#5893520"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.joystiq.com/media/2013/05/2kgmktcivvbnwscreenshotcivilwar1_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/photos/civilization-5-brave-new-world-indonesia-and-morocco/#5893521"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.joystiq.com/media/2013/05/2kgmktcivvbnwscreenshotcivilwar3_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/photos/civilization-5-brave-new-world-indonesia-and-morocco/#5893522"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.joystiq.com/media/2013/05/2kgmktcivvbnwscreenshotindonesia2_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a></div><p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.blogsmithmedia.com/www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2013/05/21/civilization-5s-brave-new-world-expansion-adds-indonesia-mor/">Civilization 5's 'Brave New World' expansion adds Indonesia, Morocco</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Tue, 21 May 2013 02:30:00 EST. Activision is crowdsourcing its next personalization pack for <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/game/call-of-duty-black-ops-2"><em>Call of Duty: Black Ops 2</em></a>. Starting on Thursday, May 23, fans will be asked to vote for one of four new packs, each with their own custom weapon camo skin, three reticles and a calling card icon.<br />
<br />
<a href="http://oneofswords.com/2013/05/you-choose-the-new-personalization-packs-in-call-of-duty-black-ops-ii/">One of Swords</a> has preview images of all four personalization options. Voting ends May 28; the winning pack will go on sale the following day, May 29.<br />
<br />
Personalizations are optional "<a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2013/03/12/black-ops-2-adds-customization-micro-items-on-xbox-this-week/">micro items</a>" you can purchase in <em>Black Ops 2</em> on Xbox 360. While Activision has said the functionality will come to other platforms, it has yet to announce any additional details.<p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.blogsmithmedia.com/www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2013/05/20/call-of-duty-black-ops-2-community-votes-for-next-personalizati/">Call of Duty: Black Ops 2 community votes for next personalization</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Mon, 20 May 2013 23:00:00 EST. A leaked pre-order image <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2013/05/19/arkham-origins-stars-deathstroke-in-some-playable-capacity/">tipped us off yesterday</a> and the press release past the break confirms it: Deathstroke is a playable character in <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/game/batman-arkham-origins"><em>Batman Arkham Origins</em></a>. He'll be unlocked in the game's challenge mode, and all who plunk down cash early will enjoy some exclusive maps and character skins associated with him.<br />
<br />
Deathstroke is seemingly a leading man in the video game world now, with <em>Batman: Arkham Origins</em> his second role of the year after <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/game/injustice-gods-among-us"><em>Injustice: Gods Among Us</em></a> in April. His real name is Slade Wilson, a mercenary and assassin created by teenage cartoonist Gary Wilson in 1980.<p><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2013/05/20/batman-arkham-origins-challenge-mode-has-a-deathstroke/" rel="bookmark">Continue reading <em>Batman: Arkham Origins challenge mode has a Deathstroke</em></a></p><p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.blogsmithmedia.com/www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2013/05/20/batman-arkham-origins-challenge-mode-has-a-deathstroke/">Batman: Arkham Origins challenge mode has a Deathstroke</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Mon, 20 May 2013 19:00:00 EST. North American retailers GameStop and Amazon are offering up their own pre-order incentives for <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/game/watch-dogs"><em>Watch Dogs</em></a>, Ubisoft announced today.<br />
<br />
Those who commit early through GameStop will receive an additional single-player mission, with a perk that unlocks "exclusive investigation opportunities inside of the network" and bonus cash when hacking into bank accounts, plus an exclusive poster designed by Alex Ross. Amazon pre-orders also get an exclusive mission that, upon completion, unlocks a special biometric assault rifle and an outfit.<br />
<br />
<em>Watch Dogs</em> launches on the Xbox 360, PS3, PC and Wii U on November 19. A port is also planned for <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2012/06/04/watch-dogs-announced-for-next-gen-consoles/">next-generation consoles</a>.<div class="postgallery"><p><strong>Gallery: <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/photos/watch-dogs-pre-order-bonuses/">Watch Dogs (Pre-Order Bonuses)</a></strong></p><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/photos/watch-dogs-pre-order-bonuses/#5894282"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.joystiq.com/media/2013/05/watchdogsamazon.compre-order_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/photos/watch-dogs-pre-order-bonuses/#5894283"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.joystiq.com/media/2013/05/watchdogsgamestoppre-order_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a></div><p><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2013/05/20/watch-dogs-gamestop-amazon-pre-order-goods-have-eyes-on-you/" rel="bookmark">Continue reading <em>Watch Dogs GameStop, Amazon pre-order goods have eyes on you</em></a></p><p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.blogsmithmedia.com/www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2013/05/20/watch-dogs-gamestop-amazon-pre-order-goods-have-eyes-on-you/">Watch Dogs GameStop, Amazon pre-order goods have eyes on you</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Mon, 20 May 2013 16:00:00 EST. <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/game/resident-evil-revelations"><em>Resident Evil: Revelations</em></a> launches this week and Capcom has promised some DLC. It starts on June 4 with the Resistance and Enhancement sets for 160 MS Points ($2), each including six different weapon upgrades. Then, on June 11, Capcom will issue two additional characters for use in Raid mode: Rachel Ooze and Lady Hunk. Each character costs 240 MS Points ($3).<br />
<br />
<em>Resident Evil: Revelations</em> is a remake of the 3DS game bearing the same name launched by Capcom in early 2012. Bridging the story between <em>Resident Evil 4</em> and <em>Resident Evil 5</em>, <em>Revelations</em> follows series regulars Jill and Chris, and takes place aboard a derelict cruise liner called the SS Queen Zenobia. Next week marks the Steam debut of Humble Heart's XBLA darling, <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/game/dust-an-elysian-tail"><em>Dust: An Elysian Tail</em></a>. Dean Dodrill, animator and creator of Dust, took to <a href="https://twitter.com/NoogyTweet/status/335460463863271424">Twitter</a> to announce the May 24 launch date; though there is currently no Steam product page.<br />
<br />
 <em>Dust: An Elysian Tail</em> is a 2D action platformer in the vein of <em>Metroid</em> and <em>Castlevania</em>, featuring beautiful hand-drawn sprites throughout. Aside from being visually appealing, it's also a delight - a game <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2012/08/20/dust-an-elysian-tail-review-dusting-off-a-classic-formula/">our review</a> said "doesn't do much to innovate the platform-adventure sub-genre, but it does manage to look and play beautifully throughout, and sometimes that's enough."<p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.blogsmithmedia.com/www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2013/05/18/dust-an-elysian-tail-scampers-onto-steam-may-24/">Dust: An Elysian Tail scampers onto Steam May 24</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Sat, 18 May 2013 01:00:00 EST. <br />
The first community-created updated for <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/game/team-fortress-2"><em>Team Fortress 2</em></a> has rolled out: 'Robotic Boogaloo.' Continuing the <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2012/12/21/team-fortress-2-greets-the-season-with-the-mecha-update/">robot</a> <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2012/10/11/mann-vs-machine-update-adds-new-difficulty-settings-and-matchmak/">theme</a> of previous <em>Team Fortress 2</em> updates, Robotic Boogaloo adds 57 new artisanal hats, helmets, bonnets, turbans, crowns, toppers and other headgear - all created by the community.<br />
<br />
Robotic Boogaloo isn't all hats but, naturally, it's <em>mostly hats</em>. Each new <em>Team Fortress 2</em> item can be found within RoboCrates - rare drops after June 3 - that can be opened with a key from the Mann Co. store, each costing $2.50. The revenue from these items will then be shared amongst <a href="http://www.teamfortress.com/roboticboogaloo/credits/">all creators</a> responsible for Robotic Boogaloo content.<p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.blogsmithmedia.com/www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2013/05/17/team-fortress-2-robotic-boogaloo-update-tangos-with-steam/">Team Fortress 2 'Robotic Boogaloo' update tangos with Steam</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Fri, 17 May 2013 23:59:00 EST. Microsoft Interactive Entertainment Business Chief of Staff <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/tag/aaron-greenberg/">Aaron Greenberg</a> recently stopped by <a href="http://majornelson.com/cast/2013/05/17/show-476-video-gaming-industry-numbers-and-star-trek-into-darkness/">the Major Nelson podcast</a> to discuss <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2013/04/24/xbox-reveal-may-21/">next week's Xbox reveal event</a> and how Microsoft will show its "vision for the future of games."<br />
<br />
"We're really going to tell one story across two events. So we're going to start on the 21st and really that's about revealing the next Xbox platform, really our vision for the future of games, the future of entertainment. We definitely have a lot of surprises planned." Greenberg then specifically called out <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/game/call-of-duty-ghosts"><em>Call of Duty: Ghosts</em></a>, which will have its next-generation engine demoed during the Microsoft event.<br />
<br />
"People are going to get a great inside look at really the making of the new platform and the team that's brought it to life," Greenberg added. "I mean, to be honest it's really about the team, the people here. That's why we're inviting people to campus, we're going to bring them behind the scenes a little bit. We've never done this before and so it's really exciting to be able to do that. But I think it's a lot of laying the foundation - probably the best way to describe it - and then just a couple of weeks later we go to E3."<br />
<br />
Greenberg concluded that more will be shown at E3 and after, leading into this holiday season. "E3 is all about the games. At E3, I mean, if you're a gamer, it's going to be tons of exclusives, world premieres and obviously even beyond that we have a lot to share between then and this holiday."<br />
<br />
The Xbox event takes place on May 21 at Microsoft's Redmond campus, located in Washington state. <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/game/killzone-mercenary"><em>Killzone: Mercenary</em></a>, the upcoming PS Vita installment in Sony's shooter series from Guerrilla Cambridge, has had its release bumped up a week. Previously pegged for a September 17 launch in North America, <em>Killzone: Mercenary</em> is now due on September 10.<br />
<br />
In addition to moving up the date, Sony has revealed some pre-order incentives for <em>Killzone: Mercenary </em>over on the <a href="http://blog.us.playstation.com/2013/05/17/grab-killzone-mercenary-a-week-early-pre-order-bonuses-detailed/">PlayStation Blog</a>. The first perk is a 48-hour double XP boost, which spans all in-game contracts, bonuses and payouts. Joining that is additional in-game cash at the outset and a pre-order exclusive machine gun, the M224-A1.<p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.blogsmithmedia.com/www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2013/05/17/killzone-mercenary-deployment-moved-up-to-september-10-pre-ord/">Killzone: Mercenary deployment moved up to September 10, pre-order goods revealed</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Fri, 17 May 2013 17:45:00 EST. Confirmed <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/tag/lulzsec">Lulzsec</a> members Ryan Cleary, Jake Davis, Mustafa al-Bassam and Ryan Ackroyd have been sentenced for their part in the great hack of 2011, which saw Lulzsec targeting notable companies such as Sony, EA and Nintendo.<br />
<br />
The four were <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2012/06/25/lulzsec-pair-plead-guilty-to-hacking-two-more-deny-charges/">initially charged</a> nearly a year ago. Davis, as leader, was sentenced with two years jailtime, while Cleary was sentenced to 32 months for producing malicious software, Ackroyd for 30 months for his role as press secretary of the group and Al Bassam, who posted the stolen data online, was given a 20-month suspended sentence.<br />
<br />
"The harm they caused was foreseeable, extensive and intended," Andrew Hadik, lawyer for the Crown Prosecution Service told BBC. "Indeed, they boasted of how clever they were with a complete disregard for the impact their actions had on real people's lives. This case should serve as a warning to other cybercriminals that they are not invincible."<br />
<br />
Lulzsec carried out many high-profile hacks in 2011, starting with <a href="http://www.engadget.com/2011/06/02/sony-pictures-hacked-by-lulz-security-1-000-000-passwords-claim/">the Sony Pictures hack</a> that eventually led to <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/tag/psn-outage-2011/">a lengthy PSN outage</a>. Lulzsec also attacked <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2011/06/06/nintendo-servers-attacked-no-customer-info-stolen/">Nintendo</a>, <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2011/06/14/lulzsec-attacks-escapist-magazine-eve-online-and-minecraft/"><em>EVE Online</em>, <em>Minecraft</em>, The Escapist</a> and <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2011/06/27/lulzsec-releases-battlefield-heroes-data/"><em>Battlefield Heroes</em></a> before <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2011/06/26/lulzsec-doffs-its-gray-hat-your-games-are-safe-for-now/">calling it quits</a>.<p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.blogsmithmedia.com/www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2013/05/17/four-lulzsec-hackers-convicted-in-britain/">Four Lulzsec hackers convicted in Britain</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Fri, 17 May 2013 16:45:00 EST. Kevin Flynn, who's worked for the last two years as a senior product manager for EA's UK arm, has left to join Activision's UK side as a senior brand manager on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/tag/call-of-duty">Call of Duty</a>. Flynn's previous efforts for EA include <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2011/10/31/battlefield-3-secures-top-of-uk-charts/">launching <em>Battlefield 3</em></a> and its subsequent <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/tag/Battlefield-Premium/">Premium DLC campaigns</a> in the region.<br />

Flynn enlisted with the Call of Duty<em> </em>squad this month, which we imagine must be <em>the busiest</em> time to sign on for an Activision paycheck. With <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/game/call-of-duty-ghosts"><em>Call of Duty: Ghosts</em></a> launching on November 5 and next week's <a href="http://www.linkedin.com/pub/kevin-flynn/35/402/254">next-generation engine</a> reveal during the <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2013/04/24/xbox-reveal-may-21/">Xbox event on May 21</a>, we just hope Mr. Flynn is finding adequate time for his lunch break every day. A hungry worker is not a happy worker!<p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.blogsmithmedia.com/www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2013/05/17/ea-product-manager-kevin-flynn-defects-joins-call-of-duty-team/">EA product manager Kevin Flynn defects, joins Call of Duty team</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Fri, 17 May 2013 16:15:00 EST. <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/game/the-last-of-us"><em>The Last of Us</em></a> launches on June 14, simultaneously on Blu-ray and as a download through PSN. Those who choose the latter route on PS3 will find the game playable once the download has reached 50 percent, Naughty Dog creative director Neil Druckmann has told <a href="http://www.gameinformer.com/b/news/archive/2013/05/16/the-last-of-us-will-release-be-released-digitally-same-day-as-retail.aspx">Game Informer</a>.<br />
<br />
It's our first taste of PS4-esque functionality, just on the PS3 - as you'll recall, one of the major features touted by Sony is the ability to <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2013/02/20/ps4-allows-playing-games-as-theyre-downloading/">play games as they're downloaded</a>. This is accomplished on the PS4 through the use of hardware dedicated to background downloading and processing.<br />
<br />
 <strong>Update:</strong> This is in regards to the PS3. We've added more clear language to that effect.<p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.blogsmithmedia.com/www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2013/05/17/last-of-us-digital-version-playable-when-halfway-downloaded/">Last of Us digital version playable when halfway downloaded [update]</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Fri, 17 May 2013 13:45:00 EST. Nvidia canceled its <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2013/05/14/nvidia-shield-launches-in-june-for-350-pre-orders-open-may-20/">forced wait time</a> to pre-order an Nvidia Shield, allowing anyone to commit to the $350 Android handheld as of now. The Nvidia Shield is available for pre-order directly through Nvidia or through select retailers: GameStop, Micro Center, Canada Computers and New Egg. <br />
<br />
The Nvidia Shield - previously known as <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/tag/project-shield">Project Shield</a> - is a handheld gaming console powered by Android. It has a five-inch retinal multi-touch screen capable of 720p, 16GB of internal storage and can stream your PC games, granted you have a GTX 650 GPU or better in your PC.<p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.blogsmithmedia.com/www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2013/05/17/nvidia-shield-pre-orders-open-early-as-in-right-now/">Nvidia Shield pre-orders open early (as in, right now)</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Fri, 17 May 2013 09:30:00 EST. Roll7, a development studio located in London, is working on a 2D pixelated infini-skater for the PS Vita called <em>OlliOlli</em>. Due in November, <em>OlliOlli</em> combines infinite runner style of play with the trick-heavy chains made famous in the <a href="http://joystiq.search.aol.com/search?q=tony+hawk%27s+pro+skater&amp;invocationType=wl-joystiq"><em>Tony Hawk's Pro Skater</em></a> series.<br />
<br />
<em>OlliOlli</em> is built on a trick system of over 100 moves, with customizable characters and daily challenges on top of the usual leaderboards. You can see an early build of <em>OlliOlli</em> running in the video above, posted to YouTube by developer Roll7.<br />
<br />
<em>OlliOlli</em> will be exclusive to the PlayStation Vita, thanks to funding for the project that was provided by Sony. <em>OlliOlli</em> will be playable at Sony's E3 booth, so we'll be sure to get our hands on it next month between June 11-13 when the 19th annual Electronic Entertainment Expo kicks off at the Los Angeles Convention Center.<p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.blogsmithmedia.com/www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2013/05/16/olliolli-2d-infini-skater-kickflips-to-ps-vita-in-november/">OlliOlli, 2D infini-skater, kickflips to PS Vita in November</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Thu, 16 May 2013 23:30:00 EST. John Hight, who serves as Production Director on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/game/diablo-3"><em>Diablo 3</em></a>, says the most exciting thing about the PS4, in Blizzard's eyes, is the controller. "This is not a mouse, this is something different for us," Blizzard Senior System Designer Jason Bender says of the <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/tag/dualshock-4">DualShock 4</a>. "Working on a console version of <em>Diablo 3</em>, for us that means the controller is king," Lead Console Designer Josh Mosqueira adds.<br />
<br />
The use of both analog sticks comes from a perceived player expectation on Blizzard's part - players will just expect to be able to do that with a console controller, Mosqueira says. The console versions of Diablo 3 on PS3 and PS4 will feature <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2013/02/25/diablo-3-on-ps3-and-ps4-will-allow-offline-play/">an evasion roll technique</a> not available on PC.<br />
<br />
The trackpad is demonstrated in the video above, sorting through a player's inventory in the new radial-style interface. "We really built our inventory screens and the UI system from the ground up," says Mosqueira. Another new ability is quick equip - at any time, players can press up on the dpad to cycle through the last few acquired items and equip any of them.<p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.blogsmithmedia.com/www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2013/05/16/take-a-peek-at-diablo-3s-new-menu-system-controls-for-ps3-ps4/">Take a peek at Diablo 3's new menu system, controls for PS3/PS4</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Thu, 16 May 2013 23:00:00 EST. After June 30, Google+ Games will be no more. Google has announced it's pulling the plug on all games through its service, so if you have credits in any games or wish to continue playing, you'll need to pursue that through each individual developer.<br />
<br />
Google announced it's pulling the plug shortly after revealing its new <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2013/05/15/google-play-launches-game-services-for-mobile-social-cloud-gam/">games services suite for Google Play</a>, which is live right now. Google <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2011/08/11/google-begins-gradual-rollout-of-games-in-google-plus/">started rolling out games</a> to its social networking service in the summer of 2011, starting with <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/tag/angry-birds"><em>Angry Birds</em></a>, <a href="http://joystiq.com/game/dragon-age-legends"><em>Dragon Age Legends</em></a> and sudoku.<p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.blogsmithmedia.com/www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2013/05/16/google-games-no-more-after-june-30/">Google+ Games no more after June 30</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Thu, 16 May 2013 19:00:00 EST.
