It is no surprise when gamer kids get their gaming love from their parents. We are happy to see this happen and in fact encourage it. Especially when it stems from Mario Bros.

A ninja is related to a samurai making Bleach on the right side of the pirate/ninja debate.

This multiplayer success first flew off Japanese store shelves last year, while the US has yet to see the title. The sequel is bound to reach players in Japan this Winter while still no word has be heard if the popular anime series will expand to other shores.

With a serious need for an awesome fighting game with online capabilities on the DS, we hope to see Bleach DS reach US gamers. Until then, if you have the ability to read Japanese and love imports, you can reserve the game and get a DS case sporting one of the most cuddly characters, Kon.

See an image after the break!

The holidays are a time for giving and generosity. While people shouldn't need an excuse to help those in need, drives like this get the best results from the holiday spirit.

Super Mario Legacy is collecting donations to help sick kids get game consoles to occupy the long amounts of time they will spend in the hospital. Each child will receive:

One Wii unit

A copy of Twilight Princess (nothing helps better than slashing baddies)

2000 Wii Points

If they get more money than expected, the site will also provide the children a DS Lite and a copy of Yoshi's Island DS. You can donate today through PayPal and the amounts aren't fixed so you are welcome to donate whatever amount you want.

Even if you can't donate, help spread the word to get more people involved. The more money they raise, the more kids they can make smile! Happy Holidays!

The Hero of Time proudly carries the Master Sword in his left hand (the way it should be -- no offense Twilight Princess) and looks like he us ready for some good 'ol Ganon slaying. Got $110 with nothing better to spend it on? We've got you covered.

They claim that the Wiimote design belongs to them and that they patented it first. According to the patent, Interlink Electronic describes an electronic device with the button/trigger layout similar to the Wiimote, but not the actual use of the device. Amidst all the lawyer-speak, we see no traces of their remote using movement in a 3D environment to operate their "electronic pointing device" like the Wiimote. Their pointing device talks of using the buttons and trigger on the remote to cause movement on screen, acting more like an infra-red mouse than a gaming controller.

Interlink filed the patent in 1997 having it granted eight years later in February of 2005. They want a restraining order against the selling of such devices, a trial by jury, three times the assessed damages to their company plus interest and reimbursement of legal fees.

Sure the layout is similar, right down the the batteries in back, but we don't see this reaching a jury seeing as how Interlink's device calls for no actual physical movement of it. We can see Nintendo having to pay these guys a lot of money just to make them go away and drop all accusations. No doubt, Nintendo fans stand tall behind their favorite company.

What the blurry image above is showing you is yet another mod for the DS Lite. Gamer Grandpasmurf found a tutorial on AcidMods that helped him put blue LED lights underneath transparent buttons that he purchased on NDS-Central. To demonstrate their glowing power, he filmed himself playing Final Fantasy III. They seem to work great and no real damage was done to his DS. Call it the angle of the camera, but we find these a little too bright for our taste.

Not because their IQ's are high, but because their youths are the most inventive group today. They have found the perfect solution to keeping the Wiimote firmly in their hands by using superglue. That's right, superglue.

When asked why, gamer Yugi Tomagotchi replied "I like the Wii controller permanently on my hand. I never have to search for it, and the other kids think it is cool." Hmmm ... whatever works best for you. We are certainly not going to try it. How long could this trend last?

[Note: The above blog is based off an article found on BBSpot -- a satire site. Japanese kids aren't really gluing their Wiimotes to their hands, as funny as that would be.]

We have seen some very impressive shirts in our day and Nerdy Shirts has taken us by surprise. Their Nintendo love comes in many forms, but something about this Nintendo family tree caught our attention. It made us dig for our original GameBoy in hopes of bringing back good 'ol childhood memories like the millions of batteries gone through in the name of playing Tetris. These shirts only cost $20 (way better than those fancy designer freaks) and they have girl sizes too! You gotta admit, Nintendo has had a pretty amazing run in the last few decades. Looks like "leaving luck to the heavens" was a good decision.

Young reader Preston was doing his body good one day by drinking milk. While his bones were thanking him for the generous amount of calcium (as his sweet tooth was for the chocolate), little did he know that Rabbids had invaded his lunchtime beverage. Ubisoft has found yet another way to get into the minds of gamers by placing advertisements on everyday items like this. We wonder how many other companies have used this same technique to grab our attention. In fact, if you, loyal reader, see an ad similar to this for a Wii game, take a pic and send it in!

Everyone wants to make them, their friends, family, celebrities and more. We here at Wii Fanboy even had our own fun with it and created each of us.

Now, Life in the Office is holding their own Mii contest for readers to create (dur) the members of the popular American version of The Office. Those who get their Office Mii posted get that week's episode of The Office on iTunes.

The only downfall to the contest is that they are asking you use the online version of the Mii creator and not the one found on the Wii. So, some limitations apply. Still, there have been a lot of entries and some look scarily close to the stars of the show.

Mario and Luigi hats are coming to the US and you better believe they are going to be seen everywhere. They cost $30 and are 35cm across. They sag to get that adorable plumber effect.

The hats aren't going to be released until April of next year but you can pre-order them if you find these too awesome to pass up.

It takes a special kind of case to protect our baby. While this may be a whopping 40 big ones, the description makes it sound priceless:

The slim DS Lite Case is constructed from ballistic nylon, with a double layer leather flap and a scratch free interior liner. The back of the case has a self-locking zippered pocket to hold your games, spare batteries and ear-buds. On the exterior of the flap, choose between our standard black or our patterned design. On the underside of the flap, choose between black, kiwi and pink leather.

Pretty slick, eh? See more pics after the break. You could have just found a Christmas present for yourself.

Well, we smile mostly for Golden Axe. You can't beat getting potions and spells by kicking a gnome.

If you are looking to hack 'n' slash your way to victory while riding strange dinosaur creatures, look no further. Or, if one day you get the urge to be a cute little dolphin that swims around and does cute things, Nintendo can help for 800 points each.

Hopefully we will see more and more Sega games get carried over to the VC. C'mon Eternal Champions!

Or, in some bizarre circumstance, their hands could get sore from holding the controller. Sounds silly, but who could forget those classic gloves Nintendo handed out to silence complaints of blisters, cuts, burns and lacerations from gamers playing too much Mario Party on the N64? This Skid Proof Glove kinda reminds us of that. Seems like Nintendo is covering their tracks just in case annoyed gamers come knocking down their doors to show them their ouchies after 25 rounds of tennis.

Come to think of it, $8 (USD) ain't that bad to keep your TV safe from accidents. We just really hope that buyers wash their gloves frequently ....

During the Colbert Report last night, Stephen Colbert listed the Wii as the number one threat this holiday season. Why? Because he is horribly addicted to it. To demonstrate his love for the system he proudly rubbed it in Wii-less gamers' faces, stating "Guess what nerds, I gots me one!"

What happened next, no words can express. Not only did he create a Mii for himself, he created one for California Congresswoman Nancy Pelosi and presumed to wipe the smile off her face in Wii Sports boxing.

Yet another reason why we love Stephen Colbert. See the clip after the break.

[Update: Whoops, it's Stephen, not Steven. Sorry Mr. Colbert.]

Continue reading Stephen Colbert shows off his Mii, defeats Pelosi

Stephen Colbert shows off his Mii, defeats Pelosi originally appeared on Joystiq on Tue, 28 Nov 2006 17:00:00 EST.
Get those boxing gloves ready 'cause we've found the best (and sweetest) Wii Sports boxer ever. Ends up, it's a girl and she is a whopping four-years-old. Never have we seen such enthusiastic flailing. No doubt her opponent shed a few tears after seeing her skill and cuteness. Honestly, the only thing that could top her boxing would be a dozen sad-eyed puppies surrounded by balloons.

If you thought you were the champ at Wii Sports bowling, think again. The real pro featured in the video took a shot at 91 pins in training mode and the results are eye catching. While using the right bumper as a ramp kind of seems like cheating, we don't care. Honestly, who in their right mind could ever knock down 91 pins? Only cheaters and Chuck Norris, that's who.

Not really, but one would get that impression after reading the article they had featuring the Wii. Don't get us wrong, we are all for women playing games. We just find ourselves a tad disappointed in how they pitched the system to UK women. We may not know a lot about Brit girls, but surely there is another way to reach them besides an alcoholic beverage called a "Nintendini Cocktail."

Maybe its just our personality, but this isn't exactly something we here at Nintendo Wii Fanboy would connect to. But, if this is what it takes to get more females attention about the Wii, then we support it.

With the huge success of the Sims series, we aren't surprised to see it branching out to the latest consoles. While the Sims have taken on more adult themes, the upcoming Wii version looks like the game had a rough run-in with Animal Crossing. The characters and topics now resemble those found in games directed towards kids and adults who turn away from high graphics and violence.

The trailer shows characters flouncing about doing Animal Crossing-esque gestures with added facial expressions and sounds. While the trailer is void of controller use and character creation, a few screenshots give viewers a glimpse. As usual, our non-existent command of the Japanese language limits what we can gather from the site. Still, this title may be worth keeping up with.

Catch the video after the break!

In honor of Thanksgiving yesterday, these quirky little rabbids sent out a video to show that they have the holiday spirit too. While we could have told you that a turkey doesn't exactly cook well in a clothes dryer, they're a bit new to this whole thing; it was a good attempt on their part. Next year, they'll know better ... maybe.

Catch the video after the break!

[Thanks JC!]

Not too long ago we helped spread the word that Nintendo would be delivering a special gift to Animal Crossing: Wild World players in celebration of the launch of the Wii. If you are one of those lucky players able to log on, you would have found a letter similar to that pictured above. Plus, you already have your super sweet present sitting in a special place. For the rest of you, we won't ruin the surprise. If you are a Zelda fan, this gift will light up your day.

[Thanks notawesome!]

Instead of camping out at Best Buy and sending a friend to camp out at Hastings, I found a way to order my birthday present to myself through RadioShack.com. I checked the site thousands of times before placing my order, re-reading the line that said "Order now to be shipped 11/19!" I was ecstatic.

A few hurried minutes later, credit card clutched in sweaty hand, I got an email confirming my purchase. Now all I had to do was wait and laugh at those camping in the freezing cold. The heavens had smiled upon me.

The next morning, I awoke concrete-ass syndrome free and in the comfort of my own bed. Gleefully I went to check on the status of my order only to see an e-mail in my inbox that made my heart sink:

Dear Valued Customer,

Thank you for shopping with us at www.RadioShack.com. Your business is important to us.

We regret to inform you that we are unable to complete your order.

Due to unforeseen circumstances, the product was inadvertently placed on
the website in a "Pre-sale" status. We have subsequently removed the
product from our online catalog.

We sincerely apologize for this inconvenience.

What?!? What?!? A million curse words echoed through my apartment. Here I am, a mere two days after launch and I find myself Wii-less. No one in the <strike>great</strike> state of OK has one and I refuse to give those thieves on eBay that much money. I am forced to occupy friends' houses and drool at their systems or look at pictures my fellow bloggers have posted. Thanks, Radio Shack. Thanks. Next time you guys are going to try and jump on the launch system wagon, be prepared. If my business, along with everyone else's, was as important as your e-mail says, you would have been on the ball.

Am I angry? A little. Is it completely their fault and should they be condemned to a fiery pit filled with Sony products? Maybe. But in the end, we all make mistakes and it takes too much energy to be mad all the time. While I may be Wii-less, I am also patient. It won't hurt anyone if Link saves Hyrule a few days late.

Radio Shack broke my heart originally appeared on Joystiq on Tue, 21 Nov 2006 20:10:00 EST.
Parallel to the long-awaited launch of the Wii, designer David Stubbs, Aaron Worrall and John Eysman have launched their website, called Wiicade. The first homebrew application we have seen so far for Wii, Wiicade offers gamers a chance to play and possibly create Flash games to be played through the Opera browser.

We poked around the site to discover it an instant success. Since the site launch on Sunday, over 16,000 games were played in under 24 hours. Wiicade costs nothing to you and we hope to see more games inspired by the Wiimote appear. If you, like several other disspointed Nintendo fanboys and girls, didn't get your hands on a Wii, you can still enjoy these games on your PC to hold you over.

[Update: Remember that these games are not yet available for actual play on the Wii because the Opera Browser is not yet live.]

As wanna-be alchemists, we have yet to grasp the idea of turning random objects into ass kicking devices. Trust us, we have tried and failed several times. Something about making a ten ton bowling ball of destruction come out of thin air is very appealing.

The two new videos for Fullmetal Alchemist: Dual Sympathy are an introduction of sorts for lead star Edward and his masculine friend, the appropriately named, Alex Armstrong. One thing we do know is don't test Edward's temper with whirling tornadoes of fire. He really doesn't take it too well.

See the videos after the break!

[Update: Fixed the link and general computard mistakes.]

When you're jammin' on Super Monkey Ball or plain kickin' ass in Excite Truck, don't be surprised when your muscles get angry. There are a few definite do's and don'ts when playing the Wii and Destructoid has broken them down for you:

Don't:

Extend your arms outwards unless absolutely necessary

Let your elbows and shoulders do all the work

Stand (unless you hate being at the edge of the sofa)

Allow little chilluns form a line near you for their turn

Do:

Try to handle the Wiimote with arms relaxed at your sides

Be patient with it -- there is definitely a learning curve!

Attempt to perform the majority of the actions with your wrist

Sit on nearby little chilluns if no sofa is available

They also instruct gamers to hold the Wiimote like a microphone to get better results out of your movements. Obviously some of these do's and don'ts won't literally be exercised, though we're told that the power of written word can be very persuasive.

One of the most recognized comedians in the world took the Wii for a test drive and the results are hilarious. Jack Black, best known for his band Tenacious D and several outlandish movie appearances, approached the Wii with a twinkle in his eye. He was ready to sweat with Wii Sports.

He did let it slip that his newest film, The Pick of Destiny, is better than the Wii, but we'll let that one slide for now Jack.

Oh, agony. Those not fortunate enough to play Zelda: Twilight Princess must settle for spoiler videos. While most are patient enough to wait to see plot points of the game when they play it, the rest of us can't help ourselves. We almost mess our pants at the mere mention of the game so you can imagine what happens when we find videos such as this.

Enjoy the over-taking of Hyrule after the break! Whoops ....

While nothing has been confirmed or denied by Nintendo, it makes for some interesting conversation.

Some signs were spotted at the Nintendo World event in Japan warning older players but there is still no word if the rumors are real. If the grandparents, great-grandparents or anyone esle in the family with a pacemaker wants to get in on the games, family members beware. You could end up with a real life Trauma Center on your hands. No one wants that!

The guys over at Intec are really screwing with us. Do they not understand that we segregate our systems? From what we see, this vertical stand will hold your Wii system, a nunchuk (complete with <strike>rockin'</strike> black grips), two Wiimotes, two SD cards, two GameCube memory cards and ... two PSP Pro Duo sticks?!? Color us confused.

For $30 you can make your Wii wider and more useful for your PSP memory cards than the PSP itself.

[Note: we don't really segregate our systems. We love them all equally.]

Yesterday, a NeoGAFer got their hands on a press release from Atlus with some interesting news for eBay resellers and ninja lovers alike. Their game, Izuna: Legend of the Unemployed Ninja, is making its way to the US February of next year. Here is a snippet from the release:

Finally, a dungeon RPG strong enough for a man... but played as a hot chick! Drop your stylus, you pansy, and get back to the old school, hardcore, monster bashing we all grew up on! See if you have what it takes to conquer the impossible levels and gruesome bosses. After all, does it get any better than the feeling of cold steel at the palm of your hands?

Hmm ... played as a "hot chick," Atlus? Trying to kill two birds with one stone by appealing to both lustful men and women with low self esteem? On top of that, we totally disagree that "ninjas are sooo yesterday!" Ninjas are the past, present and future!
