Aug 30th 2010 1:55PM (Joystiq)I agree Microsoft crunched numbers before starting the replacement program but i do give them some credit for not bullshitting us and not telling us to eff off and just making it the whole process easy for everyone to get the xbox fixed. yes it was unfortunate and microsoft is to blame, but they did make the end user experience that much easier.
I also do believe the people that wont pay the extra 10 is a minuscule amount when compared to the million+ people that will start subscribing come December. im sure they crunched the nuymbers that the people they lose with the rate hike is acceptable when compared to the new memebers that will $60 without thinking twice about it.
But defenitely, if you choose to be heard with your wallet, by all means go for it.

Aug 30th 2010 12:47PM (Joystiq)yup. when people buy an Xbox this holiday season, they're not going to know they people used to pay $50 for XBL. So they'll pay $60 without thinking twice.
We, the actual long time gamers, get screw over but what are we gonna do besides piss and moan while we pay up? its not like were gonna stop playing online, right?
Screw it, just charge me already and let me play.
At least they are letting us pay 40 for a year, right?

Aug 30th 2010 12:41PM (Joystiq)Yes, a great track record. Microsoft spent over a Biliion Dollars on the Xbox RROD trade in program. They've created an incredible Xbox LIVE system for its online user base, something Sony still hasnt figured out. Also, before Major Nelson came along, how many coporations had a direct link to they community they served? None.
Sure, they make some stupid decisions like over charging us for HDD space, but they still keep us happy in the long run.

Aug 30th 2010 12:31PM (Joystiq)Although Microsoft does have a great track record with its gamers/client base, I sometimes forget its in the business of making money any way they can.

Aug 20th 2010 7:12PM (Joystiq)i think this happened to me as well. Even though the clerk would scan the coupon, it wouldn't lower the price. but they just called over some manager and told him its been happenning all day. He just came over and manually changed the price. No muss, No fuss. Sucks your experience didnt go this smoothly, man.
