So it's only fitting that EA release a demo for <em>MOH: Airborne</em> to prove to everyone that it can hold its own. And that's exactly what they're doing. On August 23rd a <a href="http://www.gamespot.com/xbox360/action/medalofhonorairborne/news.html?sid=6176640"><em>MOH: Airborne </em>demo</a> will be released on the XBLM showcasing the campaign level Operation Husky and allow gamers to decide if the latest installment of the <em>Medal of Honor</em> franchise can hold its own. Prepare to jump fanboys, next week we're going <em>Airborne</em>.<br /><br />[Thanks, SRU Platinum]<p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2007/08/15/moh-airborne-demo-falls-from-the-sky-aug-23rd/">MOH: Airborne demo falls from the sky Aug 23rd</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Wed, 15 Aug 2007 13:00:00 EST. The biggest difference between <em>Airborne</em> and its predecessors is that players begin levels in the air and can parachute down anywhere in the battle. This creates very non-linear gameplay as any angle, objective or tactic can be accomplished any way the player chooses. Gilmore also talks up the game's weapon upgrades and artificial intelligence dubbed "Affordance A.I." which was created to accommodate such non-linear player involvement and acts realistically to attacking and defending from every angle. All of this "innovation" sounds very satisfying and different, but we'll have to check out all the parachuting fun in August before we can label <em>MoH: Airborne</em> teh greatness.<p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2007/07/24/moh-airborne-to-offer-very-non-linear-gameplay/">MoH: Airborne to offer very non-linear gameplay</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Tue, 24 Jul 2007 12:45:00 EST. Forget about <span style="font-style: italic;">Hour of Victory</span> and put <span style="font-style: italic;">Medal of Honor: Airborne</span> on your list if you're eager to get back to some WWII gaming. It'll help bandage the wound left by <span style="font-style: italic;">Call of Duty </span>when they decided to go all <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2007/06/13/joystiq-first-look-call-of-duty-4-modern-warfare/"><span style="font-style: italic;">Modern Warfare</span></a> on us.<br /><br />What sets it apart from the other entries in the <span style="font-style: italic;">Medal of Honor</span> series is the Airborne factor that really changes the way you approach each new campaign. You parachute into each level from a C-47 transport plane, and can choose exactly where you'll land on the map, if you're halfway decent at steering your 'chute. This changes the gameplay over the previous game dramatically, because you can play each map differently every time you drop in.<br /><br /><div class="postgallery"><p><strong>Gallery: <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/photos/medal-of-honor-airborne/">Medal of Honor: Airborne</a></strong></p><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/photos/medal-of-honor-airborne/#310183"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.joystiq.com/media/2007/07/moha_ft_axis_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/photos/medal-of-honor-airborne/#310182"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.joystiq.com/media/2007/07/mohairx360pftfront_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/photos/medal-of-honor-airborne/#310181"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.joystiq.com/media/2007/07/moha_mg_upgrade_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/photos/medal-of-honor-airborne/#310180"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.joystiq.com/media/2007/07/moha_ft_street_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/photos/medal-of-honor-airborne/#310179"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.joystiq.com/media/2007/07/moha_avalanche_glory_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a></div><p><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2007/07/14/joystiq-hands-on-medal-of-honor-airborne/" rel="bookmark">Continue reading <em>Joystiq hands-on: Medal of Honor: Airborne</em></a></p><p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2007/07/14/joystiq-hands-on-medal-of-honor-airborne/">Joystiq hands-on: Medal of Honor: Airborne</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Sat, 14 Jul 2007 17:01:00 EST. In another cheap move by EA (who we believe more and more to be lazy developers who don't even try to optimize their games for each system ... why won't their sports games be at 60fps on the PS3, but will on the 360? We know the system can handle it, so the fault clearly lies within the developer house), PS3 owners get to wait an extra couple of months. <br /><br />Due out by the <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2007/05/15/medal-of-honor-airborne-video-unique-wwii-fps/">end of August initially</a>, <em>MoH:A</em> has been pushed to a November release. A time where they will have to deal with much more important titles as competition. While no clear reason for this delay was explained, we're pretty sure we know why. We highlighted it above. The PS3 is harder to develop for, so the port from 360 to PS3 is giving them troubling results. Instead of optimizing performance for the PS3 itself, they're trying to debug a faulty, most likely less-impressive, port. We could be wrong. Maybe we get extra content. Tell us your thoughts!<br /><br /><br /><br />[via <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2007/07/06/medal-of-honor-airborne-ps3-delayed-until-november/">Joystiq</a>]<p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2007/07/06/medal-of-honor-airborne-delayed-for-ps3/">Medal of Honor: Airborne delayed for PS3</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Fri, 06 Jul 2007 18:00:00 EST. For those that haven't been following the latest in the <em>Medal of Honor</em> franchise, <em>Airborne</em> allows gamers to parachute anywhere onto the map that they desire, providing beacons only as mere suggestion. The fighting is intense, unpredictable, and comparisons to the <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2005/11/16/metareview-call-of-duty-2-xbox-360/"><em>Call of Duty</em></a> franchise result in <em>Airborne</em> winning for its visceral and maddeningly chaotic game play. The new level of AI is being titled "affordance AI" which relates to how well the enemies respond to you and your team's actions. Impressions from the latest coverage also seem to mimic <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2006/09/19/bold-ps3-best-seller-predictions/">earlier predictions</a> of a best-seller status for the new title. Look for more on this soon. Its projected release date is gearing up and still stands for <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2007/04/25/medal-of-honor-explodes-onto-ps3-this-summer/">late August</a>.<p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2007/05/21/medal-of-honor-airborne-box-art-and-hands-on-preview/">Medal of Honor: Airborne box art and hands-on preview</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Mon, 21 May 2007 14:30:00 EST. Specifically, the game will ship August 28th. As many may have guessed from the title, <em>Medal of Honor: Airborne</em> focuses on paratroopers. Levels begin with a combat drop in which players can control their descent, allowing for more free form gameplay. For instance, if you land in a combat hot spot and find yourself instantly overwhelmed, you might try landing in a quieter spot next time. The question is, will the parachute mechanic be enough to lift <em>MOH: Airborne</em> above the bloated WWII genre? After all, it seems like <a href="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.joystiq.com/media/2007/04/clancy-endwar-rm.jpg">WWIII</a> is the <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2007/04/25/call-of-duty-4-modern-warfare-confirmed/">way to go</a> these days.<br /><br />[Via press release]<p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2007/04/25/medal-of-honor-goes-airborne-in-august/">Medal of Honor goes Airborne in August</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Wed, 25 Apr 2007 17:45:00 EST. Rest assured, <em>Vanguard</em> is not a <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2006/12/18/rival-swords-wii-prince-of-persia-has-a-new-name-but-same-game/" target="_blank">poorly disguised rehash</a>; that's not to say it will offer much beyond WWII shooter standards -- unless you're a sucker for motion controls (on Wii, not PS2).<br /><br />It appears that there will be some loose correlation between the <em>Vanguard</em> and <em>Airborne</em> plotlines, as both games focus on characters in the 82nd Airborne Division and share common mission locales, like Sicily. The "<em>Vanguard</em>" name implies players will be engaging in operations at the very front of the frontline (even behind enemy lines). It's unclear when EA decided to nix development of <em>Airborne</em> for Wii and PS2 and go for a wholly different tie-in -- perhaps it was the top-secret plan all along. In any event, it's for the best, as Wii and PS2 versions of <em>Airborne</em> wouldn't hold up against their Xbox 360, PlayStation 3, and PC counterparts. Here's to hoping <em>Vanguard</em> gets the deserved attention it needs, earning its place as co-heir to the <em>Medal of Honor </em>franchise.<p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2006/12/19/medal-of-honor-vanguard-announced-for-wii-ps2/">Medal of Honor Vanguard announced for Wii, PS2</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Tue, 19 Dec 2006 12:25:00 EST.
