Blizz has been characteristically tight-lipped about the title's launch window, though we were recently informed that an online SKU search for <em>Starcraft II </em>on <a href="http://www.bestbuy.com/site/olspage.jsp;jsessionid=AVUJBC3BLPUOVKC4D3LFAHI?_dyncharset=ISO-8859-1&amp;id=pcat17071&amp;type=page&amp;st=starcraft+ii&amp;sc=Global&amp;cp=1&amp;nrp=15&amp;sp=&amp;qp=&amp;list=n&amp;iht=y&amp;usc=All+Categories&amp;ks=960">Best Buy</a>, <a href="http://www.circuitcity.com/ccd/Search.do?c=1&amp;searchType=user&amp;keyword=starcraft+ii&amp;searchSection=All&amp;go.x=0&amp;go.y=0">Circuit City</a>, and <a href="http://www.gamestop.com/browse/search.aspx?N=0&amp;Ntk=TitleKeyword&amp;Ntx=mode+matchallpartial&amp;Ntt=starcraft%20ii">Gamestop's</a> web sites reveal the same supposed release date of December 3, 2008. With no confirmation from Blizzard, it's far from official -- though we imagine this won't stop dedicated <a href="http://starcraft.wikia.com/wiki/Zergling">zerglings</a> from dropping by the office tomorrow, and requesting off the last month of the year.<br /><br />[Thanks, Chad.]<p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2008/06/22/rumor-retail-chains-showing-december-3-release-date-for-starcra/">Rumor: Retail chains showing December 3 release date for Starcraft II</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Sun, 22 Jun 2008 17:30:00 EST. As our <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/Grand-Theft-Auto-IV/">coverage</a> continues on the <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/Smash-Bros-Brawl/">second</a> mega-release this year, Best Buy has posted its list of midnight store openings for the <span style="font-style: italic;">Grand Theft Auto IV </span>launch. We've placed the list after the break, and the <a href="http://www.bestbuy.com/site//olspage.jsp?id=pcmcat150400050036&amp;type=category">Best Buy site</a> has maps to the locations for those who need it.<br /><br />We don't have explicit details how the Best Buy midnight launch should go -- <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2008/04/22/wal-marts-gta-iv-launch-details/">like we do for Wal-Mart </a>-- but it's best to show up early Monday evening. Plus, the company states that there'll be "<span style="font-weight: bold;"></span><span class="Body"><span style="font-style: italic;">Grand Theft Auto</span>-related giveaways, but quantities will be limited." And just to prove how non-highfalutin of a site we really are, this blogger will be standing in line at the Dedham, Mass., store taking pics and waiting to get his copy just like everyone else.<br /></span><p><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2008/04/23/best-buys-gta-iv-midnight-opening-list/" rel="bookmark">Continue reading <em>Best Buy's GTA IV midnight opening list</em></a></p><p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2008/04/23/best-buys-gta-iv-midnight-opening-list/">Best Buy's GTA IV midnight opening list</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Wed, 23 Apr 2008 13:00:00 EST. Mega-chain Best Buy is sending $50 gift cards to customers who bought HD DVD players or attachments from its US stores <em>prior</em> to Feb. 23 (coincidentally, for our readership, the date <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2008/02/23/microsoft-officially-gives-up-on-hd-dvd/">Microsoft declared the format dead to the company</a>). <a href="http://www.cnn.com/2008/TECH/ptech/03/19/best.buy.ap/index.html">CNN</a> reports most customers won't have to do a thing to receive the card as they'll be identified through the Reward Zone program, service plans or online purchases. If you're a customer who won't be identified in this manner, just grab a receipt (you do keep those, right?) or provide your credit card info to the company for proof of purchase. Gift cards will be sent out by May 1.<br /><br />Circuit City provided a similar deal earlier this month to recent HD DVD adopters by allowing them to return the product if it had been purchased within 90 days. Both Best Buy and Circuit City's <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2008/02/27/best-buy-others-offer-trade-in-program-through-dealtree-com/">online trade-in programs</a> (run by the same company) will allow you to unload your player beginning March 21. Before anyone thinks they're being witty, only HD DVD players can be returned for store credit, you're not getting $50 per movie disc purchased. Although this format war was in no way these retailer's fault, it's very nice to see them taking care of customers left out in the cold.<p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2008/03/19/best-buy-giving-50-gift-cards-to-hd-dvd-adopters/">Best Buy giving $50 gift cards to HD DVD adopters</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Wed, 19 Mar 2008 12:45:00 EST. Although a tip we received was specifically about <a href="http://www.bestbuytradein.com/bb/QuoteCalculator.cfm?level=1&amp;&amp;value=176">Best Buy's trade-in program</a>, it appears the service is actually provided by a company called Dealtree.com, which seeks to offer "fair value" for old electronics. For example, the trade-in price for a Gamecube in good condition is $25; if that seems acceptable all the customer has to do is print out the pre-paid shipping label, send it to the company and in seven business days it'll send a Best Buy gift card for the value of the trade-in.<br /><br />Dealtree.com apparently provides its services to a <a href="http://www.dealtree.com/services.cfm">variety of retailers</a>. It appears trade-in values are universal as a very quick check using the same parameters on the Circuit City version yielded the same trade-in value as with Best Buy. A sterile alternative to eBay or Craigslist for those looking to unload old consoles. <br /><br />[Thanks Michael]<p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2008/02/27/best-buy-others-offer-trade-in-program-through-dealtree-com/">Best Buy, others offer trade-in program through Dealtree.com</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Wed, 27 Feb 2008 22:30:00 EST. The PS3 pricing structure is like a really wily monkey. You may think you have him, you've got your stun club and net all ready and then ... poof! He loses you, leaving behind only a monkey-shaped cloud of dust. In what appears to be its latest juke, the 80 GB version of the PS3 will apparently go closeout (read: no new shipments) at Best Buy stores, according to an internal memo sent to <a href="http://www.ps3fanboy.com/2008/01/24/best-buy-discontinuing-80gb-ps3/">PS3 Fanboy</a>.<br /><br />What does this mean for the PS3 exactly? We've checked with our team of experts and are now able to report that <em>we have absolutely no clue</em>. It's worth noting that in Japan, the 20 and 60 GB SKUs of the system <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2008/01/10/sony-japan-discontinues-20gb-and-60gb-ps3/">were dropped</a> to focus all efforts on the 40GB model, but we don't know if that's what's happening here. The only facts now seem to be that something is up, and <a href="http://www.gamepro.com/news.cfm?article_id=157928">Sony's saying</a> it's business as usual. We'll let you know when we hear more.<p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2008/01/24/best-buy-closing-out-80gb-ps3/">Best Buy closing out 80GB PS3</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Thu, 24 Jan 2008 11:20:00 EST. Best Buy is having a sale on all of their video games priced at $19.99, allowing those looking to stock up on titles to snag two games for the sum of $30. And, looking over the list of titles that qualify, there's quite a bit of fun to be had. <br />
<br />
Notable games in the sale include Nintendo's training titles <em><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2008/01/09/brain-training-big-in-uk-in-2007/">Brain Age</a>, <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2007/08/29/ds-fanboy-review-brain-age-2/">Brain Age 2</a> </em>and<em> <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2007/07/11/nintendo-flashes-us-with-vision-training/">Flash Focus</a></em>. There are also other games like <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2007/11/02/ds-fanboy-review-wordjong/"><em>WordJong</em></a>, <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2007/03/20/latest-sim-city-ds-commercial-erects-buildings/"><em>SimCity DS</em></a>, <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2007/11/06/what-is-the-spectrobes-collectors-edition/"><em>Spectrobes</em></a> and <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2007/12/11/orcs-and-elves-and-a-john-carmack-autograph/"><em>Orcs &amp; Elves</em></a> up for grabs too.<br />

They're offering a $10 gift card with the purchase of any DS Lite system. Nice.<br /><br />Only problem is that their website shows all of the DS Lite units sold out online. That's not a huge problem, however. If you head in-store, you can get the same offer (we called our local store to confirm), so if you find one sitting on the shelf (odds are <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2007/12/14/november-npd-holy-holidays-batman/">against you</a> right now, we're afraid), then you're in luck. Other problem: the offer expires in three days, on the 20th.<p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2007/12/17/best-buy-offering-10-gift-cards-with-purchase-of-ds-lite/">Best Buy offering $10 gift cards with purchase of DS Lite</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Mon, 17 Dec 2007 16:00:00 EST. We've already t<a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2007/11/05/rock-band-impressions-from-a-best-buy-kiosk/">raveled to the land of blue, bleak, and reek</a> to check out <em><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/tag/RockBand/">Rock Band</a></em>, so with the in-store buzz definitely there, we had to think a midnight launch would be coming -- and it is. 75 locations in 32 states open their doors at midnight to arm you with your "rocksenal," which is actually <em>more</em> than were participating in the <em><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/tag/GuitarHeroIII/">Guitar Hero III</a></em> launch.<br /><br />So if you're worried about potentially securing a copy (thanks to EA's boast of confidence regarding their stock), this might be a possible solution for you. And after all that <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2007/11/08/rock-band-dlc-splosion-ccr-radiohead-bowie-and-more/">sweet unannounced, but coming DLC</a> spied from the pages of OXM, how is anyone with a pulse <span style="font-style: italic;">not</span> excited? We have just received an email from Attorney Jack Thompson stating that his 15-year-old son purchased the Mature-rated game <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/tag/BioShock/"><em>BioShock</em></a> from a local Best Buy. Thompson informs us that <em>BioShock</em> is created by "the notorious Take-Two interactive," you may remember them from publishing such ultra-violent games as <em>Grand Theft Auto</em>. Thompson says that in using his son in a sting operation, he's proven "that Take-Two's upcoming releases of hyperviolent and sex-themed <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/tag/manhunt2/"><em>Manhunt 2</em></a> and <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/tag/gtaIV/"><em>Grand Theft Auto IV</em></a> will be widely sold to kids of all ages, despite promises by Take-Two, the Entertainment Software Rating Board (ESRB), and major retailers." No word if Thompson will allow his son to play the copy of <em>BioShock</em> he purchased.<br /><br /><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/tag/jackthompson/">Thompson</a> goes on to say that retailers and the gaming industry are "engaged in a fraudulent and deceptive trade practice across the nation" by claiming to check IDs. This is exacerbated by his son purchasing the M-rated game from the same Best Buy store Thompson sent his son to buy <em>Grand Theft Auto: Vice City</em> at when he was 10-years-old. Thompson is demanding that Best Buy fire the store's manager and the girl with the "piercing through her right eyebrow" who sold his son the game. Thompson finishes by saying, "The entire video game age rating system is a fraud perpetrated upon American families from sea to shining sea." We should keep that in mind the next time we recruit our own child into a crusade and approve of him or her purchasing an M-rated game.<p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2007/09/13/thompson-sends-own-son-on-personal-sting-operation-against-best/">Thompson sends own son on personal sting operation against Best Buy</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Thu, 13 Sep 2007 18:25:00 EST. So, enough setup already ... let's get to it.<br /><br />One of this week's best new release deals is at Circuit City where they're offering <em><a href="http://www.circuitcity.com/ccd/productDetail.do?oid=180911&amp;cm_keycode=85">Stranglehold</a></em> for only $47.99. That's a $12 savings which is quite the deal. We couldn't find any other software deals, but ran across Circuit City's 2-day Labor Day special (Sunday and Monday only) on a <a href="http://circuitcity.shoplocal.com/circuitcity/Default.aspx?action=browsepagedetail&amp;storeid=2397092&amp;rapid=444264&amp;listingid=-2092844437&amp;pretailerid=-99827">Premium 360</a> where they'll throw in a copy of Rockstar's <em>Table Tennis</em> and a wireless controller for free. Nothing amazing, but it's something. Finally, for those of you who want to be guaranteed a HDMI connection on your 360, Best Buy is advertising the "new" <a href="http://bestbuy.shoplocal.com/bestbuy/Default.aspx?action=browsepagedetail&amp;storeid=2413084&amp;rapid=445631&amp;pagenumber=14&amp;listingid=-2092824875">Xbox 360 Premium w/HDMI</a> SKU. It's a very nice gesture that prevents online orderers from getting an old, HDMI-less 360.<br /><br />That's all the noteworthy deals we could find in this week's Sunday ads, but we're sure you've come across other deals online so feel free to share with your fellow fanboys. You know, because sharing is the right thing to do.<p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2007/09/02/stranglehold-for-the-cheap-and-hdmi-360s/">Stranglehold for the cheap and HDMI 360s</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Sun, 02 Sep 2007 10:30:00 EST. Dear Best Buy,<br /><br />We'd like to inform you of an error made on your website regarding the Sony PlayStation Portable. As you can see, the listing for the Location Free Player <a href="http://www.bestbuy.com/site/olspage.jsp?id=pcmcat109600050003&amp;type=category?id=pcmcat109600050003&amp;type=category">on your website</a> suggests that the PSP has a touch screen. However, that is incorrect. Are you, perhaps, confusing it with a <a href="http://nintendo.joystiq.com">different handheld</a>?<br /><br />It's true that through <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2006/10/02/psp-gains-touch-screen-support/">serious modifications</a>, a touch screen can be implemented on the system. But this option is limited to only a small percentage of truly hardcore users of the system. Considering how you're one of the nation's biggest retailers, we thought you might appreciate this correction, and hope that you remind your store's employees that the PSP does not have a touch screen.<br /><br />Thank you,<br />PSP Fanboy<br /><br />[Thanks, Kevin B.!]<p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2007/08/28/dear-best-buy-psp-doesnt-have-a-touch-screen/">Dear Best Buy, PSP doesn't have a touch screen</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Tue, 28 Aug 2007 00:00:00 EST. So, let's just get to it. <em>Stuntman: Ignition</em> releases this week and if you're in the market for the game you'll have to decide between a free 16 page game guide offered by<a href="http://www.circuitcity.com/ccd/productDetail.do?oid=185823&amp;cm_keycode=85"> Circuit City</a> or <a href="http://bestbuy.shoplocal.com/bestbuy/Default.aspx?action=browsepagedetail&amp;storeid=2413084&amp;rapid=441777&amp;pagenumber=12&amp;listingid=-2092866001">Best Buy's</a> exclusive code to unlock the, quote, "game's fastest car". Intense isn't it? Other Circuit City deals include a 12+1 month <em>Halo 3</em> branded <a href="http://www.circuitcity.com/ccd/productDetail.do?oid=179325&amp;cm_keycode=85">Xbox Live subscription</a> for $39.99 and both black and white <a href="http://circuitcity.shoplocal.com/circuitcity/Default.aspx?action=browsepagedetail&amp;storeid=2397092&amp;rapid=440423&amp;pagenumber=11&amp;listingid=-2092875510">wireless controllers</a> at $39.99. If you're not thrilled by those deals, maybe Target's $79.99 <em><a href="http://weeklyad.target.com/target/Default.aspx?action=browsepagedetail&amp;storeid=2395018&amp;rapid=439710&amp;pagenumber=1&amp;listingid=-2092884847&amp;ref=%2ftarget%2fDefault.aspx%3faction%3dbrowsepagespread%26promotioncode%3dTarget-070826%26storeid%3d2395018%26pagenumber%3d1">Guitar Hero II</a></em> bundle will do it for you. The song list for <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/tag/Ubisoft/">Ubisoft</a>'s <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2007/07/15/promotional-consideration-come-as-you-are/"><em>Jam Sessions</em></a> has been revealed, and it's pleasant enough to be worth checking out when you get tired of randomly making noises. There are some great selections, like "<a href="http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=209ArurxVG4">The Man Who Sold the World</a>" and Bob Marley's "<a href="http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=4u2GpQzEu3Y">No Woman No Cry</a>" as well as a lot of stuff that we're too old and lame to know anything about. There are a few songs like Beck's fantastic "<a href="http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=u74om08X25A">Jack-ass</a>" that don't seem to have that much guitar in them, which leads us to question their appropriateness for this game. On the other hand, it's (sheet music providing instructions for playing) a <span style="font-style: italic;">Beck song in a video game.</span> That's awesome.<br /><br />We also have to wonder how Ubisoft decided to categorize covers by artist: for example, "Life Is A Highway" on the card is billed as the Rascal Flatts version rather than the original <a href="http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=nCPbL4yA7ik">Tom Cochrane version</a>, and the aforementioned "The Man Who Sold the World" is billed as Nirvana and not <a href="http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=209ArurxVG4">David Bowie</a>, despite the guitar arrangements being identical in both cases and therefore indistinguishable. Oh, right, marketing. We should learn not to think too deeply about these things.<br /><br />Speaking of marketing, Ubisoft is including a bonus that is either awesome or infuriating, depending on your proximity to a Best Buy. Three exclusive songs will be on copies of the game sold at Best Buy, including Jimi Hendrix's "Wild Thing" (what were we just saying about the covers?). GameStop shoppers will get a preorder bonus that <span style="font-style: italic;">doesn't</span> require a separate pressing of the game: a free subscription to <a href="http://www.google.com/url?sa=t&amp;ct=res&amp;cd=1&amp;url=http%3A%2F%2Fwww.spin.com%2F&amp;ei=l_jLRurYF4i2gQPG5ZzzCQ&amp;usg=AFQjCNEowSNJI0qwykun_2kRrCie3ect8A&amp;sig2=-ah-JiWu50AmWhncIBJ1Bw"><span style="font-style: italic;">Spin </span>magazine</a>. The full song list is available after the break.<p><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2007/08/22/jam-sessions-contains-best-buy-exclusive-songs/" rel="bookmark">Continue reading <em>Jam Sessions contains Best Buy-exclusive songs</em></a></p><p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2007/08/22/jam-sessions-contains-best-buy-exclusive-songs/">Jam Sessions contains Best Buy-exclusive songs</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Wed, 22 Aug 2007 10:40:00 EST. But not the super-hot two-toned Lite we've been drooing over, oh no ... this Lite is <em>all</em> red. Now, we've seen the gorgeous red and black Lite in the <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2007/08/17/brain-age-2-ds-bundle-unboxed-envy-unleashed/">hands of some of our fellows</a>, so we know it exists -- so what's with this one? Could there be another bundle? Another new DS Lite? Or is it simply a mistake on Best Buy's behalf? We snagged a screencap of the image just in case it disappears. Reader thrillho also caught a picture in the <a href="http://picasaweb.google.com/garbagedick/DSGameCase/photo#5100584084314333650">sales flyer</a>, so it's not a one-off. <br /><br />We do so love to start the mornings off with a little gossip, and this pic is as juicy as a ripe strawberry. We rather prefer the red and black model, but we wouldn't say no to an all-red Lite, either.<br /><br />[Thanks, Fashnootin and thrillho!]<p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2007/08/20/rumor-or-error-the-all-red-ds-lite/">Rumor or error: the all-red DS Lite</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Mon, 20 Aug 2007 09:49:00 EST. The first deal that caught our is eye was <a href="http://www.bestbuy.com/site/olspage.jsp?skuId=8336017&amp;type=product&amp;id=1175389261843"><em>All-Pro Football 2K8</em></a> over at Best Buy which has been discounted to a very affordable $39.99, probably due to a little game called <em>Madden 08</em> being released as of late. Also available at Best Buy this week is an offer where if you purchase the Xbox 360 <a href="http://bestbuy.shoplocal.com/bestbuy/Default.aspx?action=browsepagedetail&amp;storeid=2413084&amp;rapid=439734&amp;pagenumber=19&amp;listingid=-2092889508">HD DVD player</a> you'll get the movie <em>300</em> for free on top of <em>King Kong</em> and the five other free movie offer. Finally, we know hordes of people will be purchasing <em>BioShock</em> this week and if you get it at Circuit City you'll save $10. That's right, <em><a href="http://www.circuitcity.com/ccd/productDetail.do?oid=175294">BioShock</a></em> will be available this Tuesday at Circuit City for $49.99. As always, spend wisely, be safe, and feel free to share the deals you've stumbled upon this week.<br /><br /><font color="#ff0000">Update 1:</font> Swapped out the image, because images can be confusing sometimes.<p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2007/08/19/get-bioshock-and-all-pro-football-for-the-cheap/">Get BioShock and All-Pro Football for the cheap [update 1]</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Sun, 19 Aug 2007 12:00:00 EST. According to Zathu, his store got a fresh batch of them, and noticed that they have their own SKU and UPC, and anyone can simply ask their local Best Buy if they have SKU <strong>8493838</strong> in stock. He also notes that they should have a seperate price tag denoting the HDMIness of the console for easy pick'ns. Not always though, as a quick glance at BestBuy.com show some Xbox 360 accessories being sold at <a href="http://xblradio.com/blogcast/?p=595">inflated prices</a>.<br /><br /><a href="http://www.bestbuy.com/site/olspage.jsp?id=pcat17080&amp;type=page&amp;qp=crootcategoryid%23%23-1%23%23-1~~q70726f63657373696e6774696d653a3e313930302d30312d3031~~cabcat0700000%23%230%23%2319r~~cabcat0715000%23%230%23%2384~~cabcat0715001%23%230%23%231s~~nf398%7C%7C4d6963726f736f6674&amp;list=y&amp;nrp=15&amp;sc=gameToySP&amp;sp=%2Bskushortlabel+skuid&amp;usc=abcat0700000">Best Buy's selection</a> of Xbox 360 cables, controller-charging kits and the universal remote have all been marked up by $3 over the <a href="http://www.xbox.com/en-US/hardware/catalog.aspx?s=0&amp;g=0&amp;c=10&amp;p=1">MSRP</a>. Best Buy's price increase does not seem to apply to controllers, hard drives, memory units or the the wireless headset (oddly enough, the wired headset price <em>has</em> been increased). Other retailers continue to match or even beat Microsoft's set price on accessories -- <a href="http://amazon.com/s/ref=nb_ss_gw/002-0120503-1966421?initialSearch=1&amp;url=search-alias%3Daps&amp;field-keywords=xbox+360+accesories&amp;Go.x=0&amp;Go.y=0&amp;Go=Go">Amazon</a> has good deals on the Wi-Fi adapter and play-and-charge kit, while <a href="http://www.circuitcity.com/ssm/Xbox-360-Accessories/sem/rpsm/catOid/-16534/N/20012841+20016483+20016534+40000085/link/ref/rpem/ccd/categorylist.do">Circuit City</a> goes below the MSRP on battery packs and faceplates. <br /><br />Three dollars might not seem like much, but the increase is enough to make us reconsider Best Buy for our gaming needs. Here's hoping the extra money made off <em>Halo 3</em>-incensed dupes makes up for the loss of business.<br /><br />[Via <a href="http://gizmodo.com/gadgets/worst-buy/best-buy-adds-halo-3-tax-to-xbox-peripherals-288586.php">Gizmodo</a>]<p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2007/08/13/best-buy-gouging-on-360-accessory-prices/">Best Buy gouging on 360 accessory prices</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Mon, 13 Aug 2007 14:51:00 EST. Their latest <em>Halo 3</em> pre-order <a href="http://www.bestbuy.com/site/olspage.jsp?id=pcmcat127900050005&amp;type=category&amp;DCMP=rdr0001102">promotion</a> offers up a free $10 Best Buy gift card and free shipping (on online orders) for customers who pre-order the game AND purchase an accessory priced at $29.99 or more. So, you'd more than likely need to be in the market for an extra controller for this deal to make any sense, because going out of your way to buy an accessory simply for a $10 gift card doesn't make much sense. And honestly, we still think Circuit City's 4' tall Master Chief <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2007/05/20/4-master-chief-wall-graphic-free-with-preorder/">wall graphic</a> is the best pre-order offering out there, but if a $10 gift card attracts you then by all means go get 'em tiger!<p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2007/08/09/free-gift-card-with-halo-3-and-accessory-purchase/">Free gift card with Halo 3 and accessory purchase</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Thu, 09 Aug 2007 14:30:00 EST. Hey, it was always a long shot, but at least we get a coupon for our trouble.]<br /><br />If you've been reading the updates to our story on the <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2007/08/06/best-buy-offering-60-rock-band-pre-order-w-accessories/">$60 Rock Band package with included controllers offered by BestBuy.com</a>, you know that the site stopped taking pre-orders some time Monday night and took down the product entirely on Tuesday morning. Well, this morning things started getting really interesting.<br /><br />BestBuy.com re-posted the <a href="http://www.bestbuy.com/site/olspage.jsp?skuId=8368036&amp;productCategoryId=pcmcat94400050019&amp;type=product&amp;tab=4&amp;id=1177718175971">product</a> <a href="http://www.bestbuy.com/site/olspage.jsp?skuId=8402926&amp;productCategoryId=pcmcat124300050013&amp;type=product&amp;tab=4&amp;id=1180742577578">description</a> pages for <em>Rock Band</em> this morning with a few key changes. The product description now clearly states that the drum, guitar and microphone accessories are "sold separately" and "optional" (Optional? We'd like to see them play the game without 'em!). These notes were not on the version available on the site from at least last Thursday through Monday night, as the above scanned printout clearly shows. Pre-orders are no longer being offered for the item, which has the same SKU and Best Buy ID number as the original posting.<br /><br />So what about those of us that pre-ordered before the bait-and-switch. We called Best Buy and talked to a customer service representative who seemed just as confused as we were. First she checked to see if she could simply add the peripherals to the order but, unfortunately, BestBuy.com does not yet have the <em>Rock Band </em>controllers in its system (unlike <a href="http://www.amazon.com/Rock-Band-Xbox-360-Drums/dp/B000TT2D2A/ref=pd_lpo_k2_dp_k2a_1_img/002-0120503-1966421">Amazon</a> and <a href="http://www.gamestop.com/product.asp?product%5Fid=802677">GameStop</a>). She then checked to see if other orders placed on Monday had received any special consideration, but none showed any change from the original order. At one point she tried to argue that the original description may have just meant that the game merely <em>supported</em> the peripherals, but the printout we have clearly states that the peripherals were <strong>included<em> </em></strong>(that one little word is key here).<br /><br />We were then forwarded on to a BestBuy.com floor supervisor, Chris, who we walked through the whole situation once again. Chris asked us to fax the printout we made of the earlier version of the page and said he would forward the matter to their corporate headquarters. Chris said in situations like these the corporate HQ has to decide whether to amend the orders already placed or provide some other form of restitution to those affected.<br /><br />Chris said he expected to have some sort of answer by tomorrow, and you'll be sure to hear about it as soon as we do. In short, don't cancel those pre-orders just yet. Joystiq is on the case!<p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2007/08/08/the-60-rock-band-saga-continues/">The $60 Rock Band saga continues</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Wed, 08 Aug 2007 12:15:00 EST. That doesn't sound like a big deal until you hear about the price each version is listed at: $59.99. That's a lot less than the <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2007/05/09/rock-bands-dubious-300-gamestop-price/">$300 Gamestop estimate</a> that was getting thrown around a while back.<br /><br />We know what you're thinking: This deal is probably just for the game disc, without the special controllers needed to make it work. Au contraire -- the product features clearly state that "<strong>included</strong> drum, guitar and microphone peripherals enable players to perform music together." [emphasis added]. Even if Best Buy realizes their mistake and raises the price, their <a href="http://www.bestbuy.com/site/olspage.jsp?id=cat12076&amp;type=page&amp;faqID=1054508892648">pre-order FAQ</a> states "you will always receive the lower of the two prices."<br /><br />We can't guarantee that Best Buy will actually honor this great deal when the game comes out in November, but it seems to us like they might have to. We recommend putting in the order now, printing out the applicable product features description and receipt, and arguing your case when it comes time for the in-store pick up.<p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2007/08/06/best-buy-offering-60-rock-band-pre-order-w-accessories/">Best Buy offering $60 Rock Band pre-order w/ accessories</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Mon, 06 Aug 2007 19:55:00 EST. The new Xbox 360 shipments are coming in for next week's <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2007/07/31/circuit-city-flyer-shows-xbox-360-price-drop-on-all-systems/">super-ultra-secret price drop</a> weekend. And what we originally thought was just a deal of purchasing an Xbox 360 and getting <em>Table Tennis </em>for free at Circuit City appears to be a little bit deeper. Turns out the game is actually bundled in the packaging and not just an add on.<br /><br />We've contacted our Best Buy and GameStop sources to see if their new shipments come with the game inside as well. We also don't know if this has anything to do with <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2007/08/01/best-buy-xbox-bundle-for-399-and-hd-dvd-for-150/">Best Buy's <em>Top Spin</em> bundle</a>. Hopefully we'll get some answers starting Wednesday (or maybe a little earlier) when the GameStop materials regarding the <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2007/08/02/gamestop-email-microsoft-announcement-on-august-8/">big Microsoft announcement</a> start showing up in stores. We can't help but wonder if this is the Microsoft answer to <em>Wii Sports</em> being packaged in the Wii. Oh well, consumers get a free game with the system and that's not a bad thing at all.<br /><br />[Thanks ToeFurB]<p><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2007/08/04/xbox-360-bundled-with-table-tennis/" rel="bookmark">Continue reading <em>Xbox 360 bundled with Table Tennis</em></a></p><p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2007/08/04/xbox-360-bundled-with-table-tennis/">Xbox 360 bundled with Table Tennis</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Sat, 04 Aug 2007 18:38:00 EST. According to the papers, the <em>Top Spin</em> bundle is going to retail for $399, be introduced on August 12th and include ... well, we aren't sure what it'll include, but we're thinking <em>Top Spin</em> would be a good guess. The arrival of a new bundle at the $399 price point further proves the overall Xbox 360 price cut, but if this bundle only includes <em>Top Spin</em>, then we'd stick with the (then) newly discounted $349 Premium.<br /><br />Best Buy also went discount crazy on the <a href="http://www.bestbuy.com/site/olspage.jsp?skuId=8132095&amp;type=product&amp;id=1158321865239&amp;ref=39&amp;loc=01&amp;srccode=cii_11138&amp;cpncode=09-36291381-2">Xbox 360 HD DVD drive</a> this morning, slashing the price to $149.99 and even including the five free HD DVDs (<a href="http://ak.buy.com/buy_assets/retail/pdfs/07Q3/0801-0930jw_5hddvd_microsoft.pdf">pdf</a>). But sadly, the HD DVD player stock has sold out online. Though, we advise checking with your local Best Buy, because we confirmed with our store and they too have dropped the price to $149 and it includes the <em>King Kong</em> movie and the five free HD DVD offer. We've got some shopping to do!<br /><br />[Thanks <a href="http://www.garethfann.com/">santini</a>]<br /><br /><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2007/08/01/best-buy-xbox-bundle-for-399-and-hd-dvd-for-150/">Read</a> - Xbox 360 Top Spin Bundle $399<br /><a href="http://www.bestbuy.com/site/olspage.jsp?skuId=8132095&amp;type=product&amp;id=1158321865239&amp;ref=39&amp;loc=01&amp;srccode=cii_11138&amp;cpncode=09-36291381-2">Read</a> - Xbox 360 HD DVD player $149

Although really not evidence of the <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2007/07/31/circuit-city-flyer-shows-xbox-360-price-drop-on-all-systems/">Aug. 12 price drop</a>, there are some interesting things going on with the Xbox 360's pricing and attachments at Best Buy. We've received two separate Best Buy scans of a "360 Top Spin Bun" that will go on sale on Aug. 12 for $399 (the same day as the expected price drop). Though we're not positive, a <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2006/01/06/top-spin-2-ships-april-7/"><em>Top Spin 2</em></a> pack-in seems to be the obvious component here (take that <em>Wii Tennis</em>!). <br /><br />Also curious is that Best Buy has <a href="http://www.cheapassgamer.com/forums/showthread.php?t=147006">brought down the price</a> of the HD DVD attachment for the Xbox 360 to $150. It's currently <a href="http://www.bestbuy.com/site/olspage.jsp?skuId=8132095&amp;st=hd+dvd&amp;type=product&amp;id=1158321865239">sold out online</a>, but most major retailers are still pricing the device in the $180 to $200 range. It's not marked as a sale so, unless there is a computer error, the price looks to stay. Retailers plan to get more details on Xbox 360 pricing next Wednesday.<br /><br />[Thanks Anonymous and El Conejo]<p><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2007/08/01/best-buy-xbox-bundle-for-399-and-hd-dvd-for-150/" rel="bookmark">Continue reading <em>Best Buy Xbox bundle for $399 and HD DVD for $150</em></a></p><p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2007/08/01/best-buy-xbox-bundle-for-399-and-hd-dvd-for-150/">Best Buy Xbox bundle for $399 and HD DVD for $150</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Wed, 01 Aug 2007 10:58:00 EST. The tipster supplied sheet shows the Core model with a "deleted" status which means Best Buy has discontinued the item with an "out of stock" date of July 27th. The anonymous tipster also mentioned that the Xbox 360 core preference code is set to "y", which means that the retailer isn't expecting any more stock.<br /><br />So, with our rumor hat firmly secure on our heads, we have to speculate to what this exactly means. The most obvious conclusion would be that Microsoft themselves is discontinuing the Core system. But that isn't the case, because Joystiq has since heard back from Redmond since running the story and Microsoft is stating that the Core is still important to the 360 offerings and isn't going anywhere. So, could this just be a case of Best Buy removing the SKU due to inventory sake or could the removal of the Core hint at the rumored <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2007/07/30/more-proof-toys-r-us-ad-hints-at-360-price-cut/">price cut</a>? You know, using the logic that Best Buy feels a soon to be priced $349 Premium system would sell well enough that there'd be no need for the Core does make sense. No matter what the case is, we don't have any real answer for Best Buy's lack of Core love, but the news does get our heads thinking crazy thoughts.<br /><p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2007/07/30/best-buy-is-axing-the-xbox-360-core/">Best Buy is axing the Xbox 360 Core</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Mon, 30 Jul 2007 15:00:00 EST. However, our local Gamestop in central New York says <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2007/05/17/sgd-07-rainbow-six-vegas-screenshots-are-gorgeous/"><em>Rainbow Six: Vegas</em></a> for PS3 won't be in stores until June 30th, at the <em>earliest</em>. Message boards across this crazy worldwide web are lighting up with tales of Gamestop employees reiterating similar tales, that the shipping date shows June 29th with expected in-store availability for June 30th.<br /><br />How about other retailers? <a href="http://www.bestbuy.com/site/olspage.jsp?skuId=8137704&amp;st=rainbox+six+vegas&amp;type=product&amp;id=1158322693408">Best Buy online</a> shows the game coming in tomorrow (June 27th). As is par for the course, their in-store clerks can only confirm its current absence in store shelves, without any further idea as to when the game will come in. Mega-retailer <a href="http://www.amazon.com/Tom-Clancys-Rainbow-Six-Vegas/dp/B000HGOHWO/ref=pd_bbs_sr_3/103-4290118-0399824?ie=UTF8&amp;s=videogames&amp;qid=1182887850&amp;sr=8-3">Amazon</a> doesn't fare much better, showing its release date as June 26th with an 11-13 day shipping time frame. Yeesh. Sans an Ubisoft developer <a href="http://boards.gamefaqs.com/gfaqs/genmessage.php?board=932242&amp;topic=36329156">connection</a>, it doesn't appear likely that gamers will be able to experience the PS3 reiteration of <em>Rainbow Six: Vegas</em> until later this week. Weekend releases are practically unheard of, but we at least hope this one proves true. Waiting another <em>full week </em>for some hot online <em>Rainbow </em>action? Too much. Now where's that copy of <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2007/06/24/worldwide-playstation-3-releases-for-the-week-of-june-25th/"><em>The Darkness</em></a> ... <br /><br /><em>Thanks to all who sent this in.</em><p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2007/06/26/where-is-rainbow-six-vegas/">Where is Rainbow Six: Vegas?</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Tue, 26 Jun 2007 16:15:00 EST. It's not too much of a deal ... especially because you have to buy a new PSP system. However, Best Buy is now smartly offering an extra 2200mAh battery with the purchase of a new PSP console. The 2200mAh battery contains about 20% more life than the standard battery, which will allow you to squeeze in some more playtime out of your system. With games going to utilize 333MHz soon, an extended life battery doesn't sound like too bad an idea ...<br /><br />[Via <a href="http://www.cheapassgamer.com/forums/showthread.php?t=142424">CAG</a>]<p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2007/06/25/best-buy-offers-extra-battery-with-psp-purchase/">Best Buy offers extra battery with PSP purchase</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Mon, 25 Jun 2007 11:00:00 EST. Anyone in the market for a new HDTV and a brand-spankin' new PS3 will very soon be in the market for a PS3 game and a Blu-ray movie. It just so happens that Best Buy understands all those needs fully, which is why they're offering all four items as part of a nice bundle for this week's deal. <br /><br />The required item for this deal is the HDTV itself, and the 40" 1080p <a href="http://www.engadget.com/2007/06/06/sony-releases-nine-new-bravia-lcds-with-xmb-and-internet-video-l/">Sony LCD TV</a> they're offering is quite an eye-catcher, having received pretty <a href="http://reviews.pricegrabber.com/plasma-lcd-televisions/m/25949446/form_keyword=sony%20kdl40v2500">decent reviews</a> from the users that purchased it. Although the HDTV fetches for <a href="http://electronics.pricegrabber.com/plasma-lcd-televisions/m/25949446/search=sony+kdl40v2500">$1550 - $1700 online</a>, once you factor in the PS3, the game and the Blu-ray movie, it becomes quite a deal. Add it all up and if you're so inclined, head on over to Best Buy and partake. <br /> <br />[Via <a href="http://kotaku.com/gaming/deal/hdtv-pack-includes-free-ps3-269739.php">Kotaku</a>]<p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2007/06/18/best-buy-offers-sweet-ps3-bundle-with-1080p-hdtv/">Best Buy offers sweet PS3 bundle with 1080p HDTV</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Mon, 18 Jun 2007 15:00:00 EST. Just like <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2006/12/27/get-your-ps3-games-on-the-cheap/">before</a>, during the post-holiday rush, next-gen gaming is once again getting a little bit cheaper for select titles. <a href="http://www.metacritic.com/games/platforms/ps3/tonyhawksproject8?q=tony%20hawk's%20project%208"><em>Tony Hawk's Project 8</em></a> and <a href="http://www.metacritic.com/games/platforms/ps3/virtuafighter5?q=virtua%20fighter"><em>Virtua Fighter 5</em></a> are now available at Best Buy for $39.99, $20.00 off the standard price of $59.99. The reviews were rather decent for both, but potential buyers should note the absence of online play in <em>Virtua Fighter 5 </em>and the apparent framerate slowdown in <em>Tony Hawk's Project 8</em>. You can head to your local Best Buy or shop <a href="http://www.bestbuy.com/">online</a> for either of these deals. Act quickly, lest the man that giveth, also taketh away!<p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2007/06/11/best-buy-offers-20-off-select-ps3-titles/">Best Buy offers $20 off select PS3 titles</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Mon, 11 Jun 2007 18:00:00 EST. (Uh, and womanliest of <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/bloggers/alisha-karabinus/">women</a>.). As far as bloggers go, we're as Ford tough as they get. Even in birth, we exited our mothers' wombs uncomplaining, ready for the hardship ahead.<br /><br /> Still, our eyes welled up when we saw this broken and battered Nintendo DS Lite. According to an employee at <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/tag/bestbuy">Best Buy</a>, the handheld was returned after its owner claimed that it had just "stopped working." Customer service must have neglected to give the DS a good look, because we can't imagine any store taking back a product in this condition. The right <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/tag/hinge">hinge</a> has been knocked out of place, every recess is filled and marked with grime, and one of its corners bares the teeth marks of a childish fit.<br /><br />The two <em>VeggieTales</em> <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/search/?q=stickers">stickers</a> marring the Crystal White's once-glossy finish are the worst offenses. Is there any hell that this DS Lite wasn't put through? Even if you were lucky enough to find a used copy, buying it would still cost you about $30 at GameStop. Several stores eventually <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2007/03/04/castlevanias-on-sale-at-amazon/">put the game on sale</a> for $19.99, and <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/tag/konami">Konami</a> released a <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2007/03/10/mankind-ill-needs-a-boxart-such-as-this/">greatest hits version with dreadful boxart</a>, making <em>Dawn of Sorrow</em> available and affordable for everyone to enjoy.<br /><br />The good times don't end there, though. The frugal folks at <a href="http://www.cheapassgamer.com/">CAG</a> noticed a couple of weeks ago that <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/tag/bestbuy">Best Buy</a> has been selling the "Konami's Best" version of the game at an astonishing $9.99. Combining this rock-bottom sale with "$5.00 off" coupons scanned from GamePro brings the price down even further to about $5.00! <br /><br />We usually miss out on these insane deals, failing to get to the store in time before <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/tag/ebay">eBay</a> hounds pick the shelves clean, but we drove to Best Buy anyway to see how we'd fare. We were surprised to find that our store had over a dozen copies, and that the GamePro coupon worked like a charm! Success!<br /><br />Make sure you take advantage of this <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/tag/sale">sale</a> now, as it ends on April 1st, punishing the fools who've missed out. Head past the cut for the "$5.00 off" coupon.<br /><p><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2007/03/27/castlevania-dos-for-five-dollars/" rel="bookmark">Continue reading <em>Castlevania: Dawn of Sorrow for five dollars</em></a></p><p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2007/03/27/castlevania-dos-for-five-dollars/">Castlevania: Dawn of Sorrow for five dollars</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Tue, 27 Mar 2007 12:00:00 EST. You see where we're going with this? Of course, there is one possible caveat. According to the fine print, the coupon doesn't include video game hardware. Now, we're pretty sure that refers to actual consoles, but don't blame us if the guy behind the counter says the guitar counts as hardware.<br /><br />At any rate, you were going to pick up <em>GHII</em> anyway, right? There have been rumors surfacing that Sony is trying to discontinue the 20GB model. In Europe, low demand for the 20GB version caused Sony to <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2007/03/09/gdc-07-uk-retailers-didnt-want-the-20gb/">not offer the cheaper SKU</a>: only 60GB models are available in that territory. America may soon meet the same fate, as Best Buy has stopped ordering 20GB versions of Sony's latest console.<br /><br />Phasing out the 20GB version is a win for both the retailer and Sony: the retailer earns more money, and Sony loses less on each system sold (they lose <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2007/02/28/is-the-20gb-ps3-already-on-its-way-out/">an additional $65</a> for each 20GB sold). Also, consumers seem to prefer the higher-end system. With Best Buy no longer ordering the "value" edition of the system, it won't be long before other major retailers follow suit. Will not offering a $499 version of the console make it less accessible to the masses? Or, does it further solidify Sony's <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2007/03/17/sony-ceo-wii-is-wonderful/">"Mercedes" image</a>?<br /><br />[Via <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2007/03/17/best-buy-done-with-ps3-20gb/">Joystiq</a>]<p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2007/03/18/best-buy-says-bye-bye-to-20gb-ps3/">Best Buy says bye-bye to 20GB PS3</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Sun, 18 Mar 2007 13:00:00 EST. A Best Buy employee sent us a printout from their computer system showing the status of the 20GB model as "discontinued." We confirmed the printout information by contacting three separate stores. This does not mean the 20GB PS3 model's production has been discontinued -- just that Best Buy will no longer carry it.<br /><br />When Joystiq <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2007/03/14/rumor-debunk-no-more-u-s-20gb-ps3-and-euro-backward-compatibil">spoke</a> with Sony's David Karraker earlier this week he told us, "Overwhelmingly, retailers have been requesting the 60GB model, the mix has been about 80 percent 60GB, 20 percent 20GB retailer orders." With Best Buy's decision to no longer carry the unit, a major retailer has walked away from the 20GB table, obviously the <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2007/02/28/is-the-20gb-ps3-already-on-its-way-out/">margins</a> were better on the 60GB model. Sony says they are still producing 20GB models.<p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2007/03/17/best-buy-done-with-ps3-20gb/">Best Buy done with PS3 20GB model</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Sat, 17 Mar 2007 13:30:00 EST. This deal's been making its way through the Internets, so your local store may have been pillaged already. Regardless, you may want to make an attempt at grabbing what you can: at $2, even a not-so-great game like <span style="font-style: italic;">Death Jr</span> starts looking pretty sweet.<br /><br />[Via <a href="http://www.cheapassgamer.com/forums/showthread.php?t=129052">CAG</a>]<p><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2007/02/26/deal-of-the-day-2-games-at-best-buy/" rel="bookmark">Continue reading <em>Deal of the Day: $2 games at Best Buy</em></a></p><p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2007/02/26/deal-of-the-day-2-games-at-best-buy/">Deal of the Day: $2 games at Best Buy</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Mon, 26 Feb 2007 15:00:00 EST. You've got to be wily to get to the goods before the <a href="http://www.fatwallet.com/">FatWallet</a>ers and the <a href="http://www.cheapassgamer.com/">CAG</a>s!<br /><br />There aren't any Wii games on clearance, but there are <span style="font-style: italic;">plenty </span>of <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2007/02/20/radio-allergy-delayed-to-march/"><span style="font-style: italic;">Wii-compatible</span></a> Gamecube games. We've got a list of all the <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/tag/gamecube">Gamecube</a> software on sale after the break. Don't expect to find all of it-- most of it has been out of stock for months or years at most stores, and the price changed to clear out remaining copies. But we hope you <em>do </em>find what you're looking for in abundance. And we hope we can make it to Best Buy soon enough to luck into our own copy of Chibi Robo.<br /><br />[Thanks, ali emamdjomeh!] <br />
